by granny_skot A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake rocked southern Taiwan on Thursday morning causing buildings to sway hundreds of miles (kilometers) to the north. Local news reports said at least one person was injured. The quake was centered in the county of Kaohsiung, and struck at a depth of about 3.1 miles (5 kilometers). Kaohsiung is about 249 miles (400 kilometers) south of the capital Taipei. it was posted 6pm Pacific time, by AP, I'm not certain what time that is Taiwan time, and I suspect an additional 30 minutes took place between quake and initial posting. 38 by Andrew Bevan I am not sure how to connect the these quakes, Granny, but if you want to check the chart, here are the details: Source USGS: Region: TAIWAN Geographic coordinates: 22.900N, 120.909E Magnitude: 6.4 Mw Depth: 35 km Universal Time (UTC): 4 Mar 2010 00:18:53 Time near the Epicenter: 4 Mar 2010 08:18:53 Quakes that occur at 35 km appear to be of an intermediate depth. 10km depth is very close to surface and have the greatest potential of causing damage. There has been a large number of after-quakes in Chile the last week, in fact, over 30 quakes with size 5,5 Richter or larger. I have never before received so many reports of so many afterquakes of such magnitude as in the case of this particular earthquake in Chile. Most of the afterquakes are occuring 35km below the earth's surface, but the afterquake of 3 March that measured 5,6 Richter occured only 20 km below ground level. Tomorrow is 5 March and we will have to observe how mother Earth responds to the Moon's square to her position in the initial quake on 27 February. http://www.astronor.com Quote Thu Mar 04, 2010 7:35 am
by dr. farr Don't forget the February 26, 2010 Ryukyu 7.0 mag quake (just hours prior to the Chile quake, see my posting above), at a depth of 22 km. Quote Thu Mar 04, 2010 9:01 am
by Andrew Bevan Don't forget the February 26, 2010 Ryukyu 7.0 mag quake (just hours prior to the Chile quake, see my posting above), at a depth of 22 km. As requested: Source USGS: Region: RYUKYU ISLANDS, JAPAN Geographic coordinates: 25.965N, 128.443E Magnitude: 7.0 Mw Depth: 22 km Universal Time (UTC): 26 Feb 2010 20:31:26 Time near the Epicenter: 27 Feb 2010 05:31:26 That is in Japan. What triggered it? What is your link? http://www.astronor.com Quote Thu Mar 04, 2010 9:28 am
by Andrew Bevan I think that in view of the major earthquake hitting Chile on 27 February and the numerous powerful afterquakes of about 5-6 Richter in the area afterwards, the question at present is whether such quakes may increase in size and tension as the Moon passes through the fixed sign of Scorpio, and if such a quake does occur how close this phenomena comes to the Moon's square to it's own position that is exact in the 19th degree of Scorpio (i.e. to 18LE25) at about 10-11 a.m GMT tomorrow. Other powerful global earthquakes occuring close to this time can be related to the Chile earthquake by this aspect. http://www.astronor.com Quote Thu Mar 04, 2010 9:46 am
by granny_skot Possibly its a difference of reporting, but I dont recall quakes of magnitude 6 or greater happening this close together in multiple global locations. I say 6 or greater, because over 6 is plausible serious damage, and there are always quakes happening all over the planet, but not usually big enough to get our attention, so I"m wondering at the severity and number right now. also of course every quake nudges its plate which nudges the one its touching so... some grumbling to be expected. and this Pluto Saturn square also seems to me to suggest quake activity in general... anyway, Just keeping track because it seems to me to be escalating. 44 by dr. farr In my anticipated (eventual) astro-analysis of quakes since 1990, I plan to include only quakes of 7 mag and higher (in the USGS statistics there are on average only 18 of these in the world on an annual basis) PS: the largest (scientifically) recorded earthquake in the 20th century-mag. 9.5!-occured May 22, 1960 (19:14 UT) near Temuco, Chile (just south of Concepcion); 2 days later there followed a massive volcanic eruption at Puyehue (lasting for many weeks). The Tenuco quake was preceded by a 7.9 mag. foreshock (at Concepcion) on May 21st. From an astrological point of view, could the 7.0 mag Ryukyu quake, just hours before the Chile quake, have been a "foreshock" of the latter?? 45 by granny_skot Did you note the number of quakes of 6 or greater on that first list that were in chile? And so you suggest it is the reporting, and not the frequency that is different, interesting. Granny Quote Fri Mar 05, 2010 4:30 am

One way of apporoaching the problem is by mapping all the large scale earthquakes, as you suggest. Maybe there is a way of relating these phenomena. Another way is by focusing on more specific details or areas. The big quakes are the events, but cracks often start in the small in the same way that eclipse series (saros cycles) begin with partial eclipses before moving into the total phase and then ending in a series of partial eclipses at the opposite pole. Large scale quakes occur more frequently in specific areas. In that respect smaller quakes occuring in areas that are not so frequently visited by such events may sometimes appear more interesting. For instance, if anyone wanted to map the history of earthquakes in the UK that study might be quite intriguing. Then there is the question whether these phenomena can be related to tensions in human affairs. I briefly mentioned under a previous thread how earthquakes sometimes occured quite unexpectedly simultaniously with political shifts or national referendums. The tension in the air is often at its height just before a storm. These relationships are interesting. Lastly, the Richter scale is most commonly used for measuring earthquake intensity but this doesn't account for the depth of the epicentre. Often earthquakes are buried with such secrecy that they have little effect at surface level. In comparison there is the Mercalli Scale, that doesn't seem to be much in use nowadays but that measures earthquakes according to actual damage. This scale deals more with appearances - which is very mcuh in line with the astrological doctrine. I wish to encourage your work and think there are several interesting approaches and angles that could be taken into consideration as you are cataloging such vast amounts of data. http://www.astronor.com Quote Fri Mar 05, 2010 9:26 am
by Andrew Bevan The 2nd largest earthquake and afterquake in Chile since 27 February was just reported only 1 hour ahead of the Moon perfecting her square and in agreement with my prediction. Source USGS: Region: OFFSHORE BIO-BIO, CHILE Geographic coordinates: 36.709S, 73.444W Magnitude: 6.3 M Depth: 35 km Universal Time (UTC): 5 Mar 2010 09:19:36 Time near the Epicenter: 5 Mar 2010 06:19:36 This afterquake is only surpassed by the one on 27 February that measured 6,9 Richter and that occured only one hour after the main quake. The case I was trying to prove would have been more obvious if the quake had been closer to 7 Richter, but the Moon is yet within the tension area for hours to come. It is unlikely that any such event should occur with the tension just being released by a 6,3 Richter earthquake.
