by Janis Valkovskis It just wonder if there is any correlation between the placement of Moon, the lord of hour and the lord of 4th house in prediting who will be the host of the next Eurovision. May be we need to symplify our techniques and to judge by majority of factors, as usually one does when looking for a missing object, and then combine discretion with art. Sensations usually happen when there is a disagreement between ASC sign, its lord and lord of hour. It doesn't matter if it is a football chart, a horse race chart. If there is an agreement, we can expect to win a one with short odds, if there is no agreement, a one with longer odds may be a choice from the region selected as above. In Eurovision 2011 chart all the factors above clearly pointed to SE. Quote Sun May 15, 2011 9:16 am
by Andrew Bevan It just wonder if there is any correlation between the placement of Moon, the lord of hour and the lord of 4th house in prediting who will be the host of the next Eurovision I agree with you Janis. this is an interesting question, and I also think that the Moon in Libra coming off Saturn and the square to Pluto had something to do with the title 'Running Scared' - but I am not quite settled on the story yet. Sometimes I also think the title of a song like this may reflect something about where we are collectively - socially and economically, which gives a few thoughts to chew on... There is also something in the packet here about how the nations from Eastern Europe and Balkan voted Azerbaijan to victory. But the voting was such a mixed bag. The UK were at the top at an early stage. The greatest disapointment for France. Azerbaijan have had a good try at winning for several years now, yet this song was imported from Sweden! http://www.astronor.com Quote Sun May 15, 2011 9:45 am

Or rather, I hate saying something can't be done, to get out of a technical fix. With a twist and a turn it is there or should be examined. We might not have to say that something cannot be predicted, but to look for something unexpected and less obvious - yes. Maybe also lean with Janis' observation the Moon cast her antiscia to the IC, which either hides the result, promotes the outsider or the tables were turned upside down. Or maybe we could re-write the Moon's condition in the 'Fiery Way' and say it it was in the 'Scarey Way'. In that case the title 'Running Scared' would be appropriate. My problem with the chart would be realizing the importance of the Moon and what effect it had on judgement. I was sat with Aries, Taurus or Leo - and my assumption of direction, i.e. SouthWest, was wrong. Unless picking the top favorites are a part of the chart? The winning title 'Running Scared' does also have a bit of being in the dark and 4th house topic about it. Lack of security. When reading a chart it's common to think tht it's always the strongest planet or aspect that is the line of least resistance and that works. But that isn't what turned up here? Maybe people were not conscious of the title 'Running Scared' but voted for a nice song and Azerbaijan? http://www.astronor.com Quote Sun May 15, 2011 12:46 pm

by Andrew Bevan I forgot to credit both Goca and Yuzuru for picking up on 'Popluar' and Sweden! The big suprize to us all may have been Italy, who, ruled by Leo, was right up at the top and came 2nd instead of France in a way. Sometimes these two nations appear to act like a right and a left hand... Estonia came no.24 out of 25!! That must have taken many by suprize, too. As the results came in, I think we once again were reminded of sectional voting, ie voting for friends and neighbours, as a part of the game. http://www.astronor.com Quote Sun May 15, 2011 1:45 pm

by Janis Valkovskis I feel compelled to say something about techniques we have been using to predict a winner. Goca suggested the one borrowed from Frawley to let all still and move the 10th cusp until it meets a planet by an aspect. This obviously is a derivative of Addey' s method how to predict a winner in a horse race. The method suggests using all kind of aspects, including minor ones. In this case the first aspect was a semisextile to Moon in Libra. Then comes the toughest part of the task how to associate lyrics and other components with that planet. With the benefit of handsight I am always smart. When you open a horary page in Solar Fire Gold (a software I use), in the very front of your eyes on the top of the page (left side) there are traditional considerations you should take into account when judging a horary. There were only two but very important notes - the Moon is very fast and she is in Via Combusta. I disregarded it but instead went for Rockefeller street which in my opinion had an association with Saturn from whom the Moon had seperated last. If we take into account the above considerations, it well describes the winning entry - Running scared. The Moon is extremely swift (14:51 per day which is far above her middle motion 13:10) in a moveable sign (running) just seperated from Saturn and run into Via Combusta (scared). Moveable signs are the swiftest signs (they give the shortest unit in context if we time a horary). Moveable signs were strongly emphasized in this chart which litterally may import running. The Moon is in Libra which has much to deal with relationship questions. Her rulling the intercepted Cancer in the 8th (I use Placidus houses for an event chart) is also descriptive of unmotivated fears. The astrological symbol of Libra is two scales which may import balance of male and female (duo). The 11th house is a house of hopes and wishes. This running appeared to have a happy end. If we use the technique I suggested which is quite similar as ones applied when looking for a missing object, we would find out that the majority of factors direct our view to South Earth. Let' s start with the Moon. It is in the Eastern quarter of heaven (12th - 10th houses). The 11th house gives as a refinment E SE. The Moon is applying next to Jupiter, who is the lord of 4th and placed in Aries (East). Jupiter is about to enter Taurus which might give a refinment to South East. He is placed in the Western quarter (a irregularity from the rulling trend). Venus the lady of hour is in Aries a degree from entering into Taurus. It also directs hour view to SE. As I mentioned, the rulership over both luminaries is the strongest testimony for a victory in a contest chart (football chart). If Azerbaijan is ruled by Taurus (which might be indeed the fact), then Venus rulership over the Moon and the Sun was the decisive factor, and we did not need to look for any supporting testimonies. 47 by Andrew Bevan Janis, you make a lot of good points in your recent post. I like the bit about the swift Moon separating from Saturn and being placed in the Via Combust (the Fiery or 'Scarey' Way). Goca, if I understand you correctly, maybe you actually are suggesting that the Moon in the Via Combust opens up for an underdog? The underdog option became obvious to me when Janis pointed out that the Moon cast her antiscia to the IC. I think the swift Moon has to be compared and seen in contrast with the slow Mercury, who was breaking away from being tied up in his 2nd station (Untie these Hands - Blue), yet I do not mind giving priority to the Moon in judgement. Yuzuru and Paul have an interesting point about Popular (Sweden), which I believe is correctly associated with the Moon. Just to point out that Sweden is traditionally associated with Aquarius, it is interesting that the Moon separates from Saturn in a masculine sign - with reference to Aquarius rather than Capricorn. And the exaltation of Saturn is cast by trine from Aquarius to Libra. Aquarius is intercepted in the 3rd house and it was a Swedish guy who wrote Running Scared. Bills does associate Azerbaijan to Taurus since Azerbaijan was previously a part of the USSR. Back to something Janis said that when both lights are disposed by the same planet, then this dispositor represents the winner. The MC's application to the Sun in Taurus could be significant, yet I am still wondering whether Azerbaijan could be more properly connected to the Moon in Libra - and it is interesting that Venus is in Aries. We can always do a backtrack and looking at the charts for 2009 & 2010 for clues. One reader sent me a jab because my 'prediction' was wrong. Well, I would be the first to admit that my bet didn't pay off (yet my Eurovision account is still way up ahead the last 3 years in terms of returns), but that is completely ignoring having seen how this contest unfolded from the beginning to the end with a formation of favorites and what has been learnt by undertaking the study. The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest is decided by a popular vote and this makes it an interesting expression and measure of a collective and cultural midpoint. I think it could of an important clue to social development - although it may seem like a circus. I am sure we will be back again next year! http://www.astronor.com Quote Tue May 17, 2011 4:20 pm
by Janis Valkovskis Yesterday I was thumbing through The Book of World Horoscopes by Nicholas Campion (revised edition) and found on page 465, where he is listing countries' rulerships with reference to Raphael's Mundane Astrology and other authorities, that the Caucasus is ruled by Taurus. The South Caucasus comprises Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan. Also from the map on page 464, where we can trace how Lilly, according to Campion, assigned the rulerships, it appears that Azerbaijan is ruled by Taurus as part of the Caucasus which is under rulership of Taurus. Lilly himself mentions that Armenia is ruled by Gemini. If it is so, the lights being disposed by Venus, who happened to have rulership over the hour, is a testimony in itself, and we scarcely need look for a more convincing one. But there are 2 signs ruled by Venus, Taurus and Libra, should we give preference to her masculine or fenimine domicle? Then I advice to look where the Moon, her dispositor, the ruler of the hour and the cusp of the 4th and its ruler are and judge by majority of testimonies. The techique is the same as if we were looking for a missing object. Start with the Moon; she happened to be in Eastern Quarter of Heaven but a little bit leaning to South (11th house). She is in Libra, an airy sign. This describes the quality of the place (country), for example, mountains. The Moon's placement in this or other quarter of heaven indicates the direction (E, S, W, N), the sign she is in the quality of the place. She's applying by opposition to Venus, who is the lady hour and her dispositor, placed in Aries, an Eastern sign, about to enter into her fenimine domicile Taurus. The cusp of the 4th happened to be in Pisces. This also describes the place but not direction (the 4th is always North). Pisces indicate to the closiness of water (the Caspian Sea). Pisces and Jupiter rules oil. Azerbaijan is rich of oil. Jupiter the ruler of the 4th is in Aries, an Eastern sign. These all direct hour view to East. I am convinced that the extra swift Moon just seperated from R Saturn and run into Via Combusta had much to do with the winning entry "Running scared". The success of J.Frawley's method to move the 10th cusp until its meets a planet by an aspect lies in the perfect understanding of the symbolism of the planet which we need to reveal. In this case, we did not need to rack our brains how the planets are associated with lyrics but to stand by the more convincing testimony (the lights disposed by Venus) which one alone gave the correct result.
