You have all been busy on the Forum this week. Do you all live in front of a computer :D All very interesting and plenty to catch up on.

I've the little matter of our local group astrological conference today, so a quick posting for todays game at 17.15 BST.

I should also be getting JF books today, so this will be last incorrect prediction

Portsmouth v Newcastle

So do I understand this game is not radical by triplicity. I need to keep up with the different types of radicality and if this may have any bearing on the result. The ascendant ruler is in the sign ruled by the Lord of the Hour.

I'm still unclear whether you all consider if there are 3 or 4 types of radicality to consider.

POF conj IC. POS conj MC, but not as close. Moon applying to Sun, in LOH sign! L1 applying by square to L7.

DRAW

Portsmouth - Newcastle, 16.15 GMT
Odds: 2,15 3,25 3,30
Asc 25VI39 MC 24GE23 Moon 21CN55 POF 24SG46
The match is played on the Dy of Saturn and in the Hr of Mars. I fail to see how the chart is radical and start to move my thinking away from the favourite by odds, Portsmouth. Mercury, L1, is combust. POF is trine the Sun but sits on the IC and this fortune may be transmitted to the underdogs. PoF disposed by Jupiter, L7. Jupiter is in the terms of Mars, LHr. The Moon, who is in Raya Yoga with Mars, translates the light of Jupiter to the Sun, who also is located in the dignities of the lord of the hour by domicile and term. Mars has essentially dignities on the des by both tripl.,face and term.

Portsmouth are elevated at the moment in view of their FA Cup final. However, things seems to be working out for Newcastle, too, who are underdogs in todays game. I will go for Newcastle.

Someone check my calculations. I should have a little sign at the bottom that reads 'without liability.'

Your calculations are impeccable, Andrew :)

Type 2 radical-tends to a draw.
Interesting idea here. Can you elaborate on this please?
Hope you'll have a good time at the conference :)

Liverpool-Blackburn 13/4, 13:30 LOH:Mars
Here's Moon opp POF again. The chart is radical. Liverpool are odds on faves. The Moon opp POF didn't work on the Chelsea-Fenebache chart where Chelsea were odds on. Will this one work? Anti-Saturn(Blackbutn) is on the MC deg, though separating.

 Hope the conference goes/went well today, John.

Portsmouth/Newcastle
I originally went for a draw here but now I'm wondering if Portsmouth might win. Newcastle have been doing better lately, but against inferior opposition. Portsmouth are a much tougher proposition.

Mercury (L1) is moving into combustion, but I have seen teams win even when their significator is combust. One's eye is drawn to POF conj IC and although this testimony hasn't been consistently effective in the past, coupled with the fact that the chart isn't radical, I'll stick with the draw.

Liverpool-Blackburn, 12.30 GMT
Odds: 1,50 3,75 7,00
Asc 16LE27 MC 0TA35 Moon 3LE23 POF 25SC53
The game starts on the Dy of the Sun and in the Hr of Mars.
The chart is radical by Mars' agreement with the sign on the ascendant and with the powers of the Sun. The lord of the Dy, Hr and Asc all agree. The Moon does oppose antiPOF, but POF is in the 4th and tied up with Algol by opposition... This feels like a double negative (?)

My vote goes with Liverpool!

Gem, I think that what John is referring to when he says "Type 2 radical tends to a draw" is Andrew's observation re hour ruler and Asc ruler being located in the same triplicity in the chart. (Actually they're not in this chart, but anyway....that's the principle behind it.)

55
hour ruler and Asc ruler being located in the same triplicity in the chart
Is this an indication for draw? What are Types 3 + 4?(I can guess what Type 1 is :D ).

I see incorrect details in my post above :bl

I've made up my mind about Portsmouth/NC. The chart isn't radical but the AC ruler is received by the LOH. Portmouth's win!

Radical - I am not quite sure of the order John is refering to. I can always provide a list according to how I evaluate the various combinations. Some observations of late caused me to want to reshuffle the order in a rather irrational manner.

I do wish we could be specific in what we mean. If we quote a testimony we should refer to it by name. Without the details I cannot make up or down as what is going on. I am afraid that the more abreviations and short cuts we use, the more internal our conversation gets and the harder it will become to attract new participants. Maybe Ficina and I should agree upon an acceptable list of abbreviations and provide a reference list under a separate thread.

See his list of 3 practical issues on page 1 of this thread - which appear to be suggestions, judging by the number of question marks :)
John said: I'm still unclear whether you all consider if there are 3 or 4 types of radicality to consider.
I'm only guessing here but John is presumably referring to the discussion on the Radicality thread. I listed 3 or 4 types at the top of page 2, and these are the same ones that Deb lists in her paper which she posted a link to.
Gem said: I've made up my mind about Portsmouth/NC. The chart isn't radical but the AC ruler is received by the LOH. Portmouth's win!
That's an interesting one! OK then, how about hour ruler and Desc ruler in M/R by exaltation? 8) This is beginning to feel more like chess than football. Your move! Seriously though, I can easily see Portsmouth winning. Although I finally went for the draw, I was very much in two minds about it.

What a delightful match it was between Leeds and Carlisle!!
I had picked Leeds to win and put it into two multiple bets. The Carlisle opened by taking the lead. It seems to have been a battle royal until Leeds got it 3-2. Mercury, Lord of hour, joining to the Sun, L1, in the 10th. Venus, L4, so close to the MC might explain why it got so tight. Radicality proven by the lord of hour and lord of ascendant being in the same triplicity - also goin in direction of a draw, but the conjunction tilts it in direction of the favourite.

God, Ficina, you really have an exceptional memory :-| You seem to remember everything in JF's book as well :) I sometimes suspect you're a Virgo, not Sag, as you always seem to be so togerther, organied, efficient and clear headed...(rare phenomenon among football fans).

I must say Andrew's tone above doesn't help; it'll put off existing members.
OK then, how about hour ruler and Desc ruler in M/R by exaltation?
I'd say M/R by exaltatioon is tenuous :-T though magnanimously I'll point out (before you point it out to me), that I see DC ruler is also received by the LOD, Saturn.

Just read Andrew's latest post. Well done :' Leeds 3- 2 Carlise

Thank you for the compliments, Gem :) Virgo?? No chance! I check stuff so often in JF's book that eventually it sinks in.

Don't worry about Andrew, he's just having a whinge. If we don't understand someone else's abbreviations, we can easily ask :)

:lala This one could run and run....

Oh yeah, well done, Andrew, on Leeds prediction :'
