above post when I noted your reply.

I'm basically a beginner in traditional Western astrology, so I hope
that your good forum's highly learned and experienced astrologers
may correct me if I am wrong. However, I have also noted that fixed
stars and asteroids are quite important in analysing a chart, particularly
those pertaining to events and medical astrology.

I use Anne Wright's fixed stars pages extensively, and sometimes
Rob Tillett's, though I am not familiar with Bernadette Brady's
approach of Parans.

As for asteroids, I have a very high respect for the late Zipporah
Dobyns, whose website was where I learned about Libitina, Hela,
Persephone, Proserpina and Orcus, all of which I would consider
to have malefic effects in the class of Pluto, Saturn, Neptune
and Uranus.

I also think that Cerberus (1865), the mythical guard dog at the gates
of Hades, is one of the asteroid equivalents of Pluto, and have noted
its malefic influences in several event and health charts.

The same could also be said with asteroid Lilith (1181), though
Zip Dobyns associates it more with psychological sexual issues.

Hades (h41) is a fictitious asteroid used mainly by Uranian astrologers,
but I have also noted its malefic influences on both events and health.
Hades is, of course, the Greek synonym for Pluto.

In the recent disastrous train crash in Chatsworth, California on
12 September 2008, for instance, Hades at 28*30' Gemini was
in exact opposition with Pluto at 28*30' Sagittarius. This opposition
also appears to have played a part in the Bishkek and Perm plane
crashes in Russia, and that in Madrid, Spain, at around the same time.

Another malefic asteroid I tend to look out for is Typhon (42355),
the mythical 100-headed serpentine monster.


Using these asteroid and stars aspects in Obama's natal, tertiary
progressed and inauguration (based on the second oath-taking at
7.35 pm) charts, I believe he is a high-risk candidate for the so-called
Tecumseh legend.

Thank you for your thoughts and opinion, as much as I find the content of you view as rather disturbing. What to do about it? How to turn it all around?? I must also express that I do not share your opinion. Taking over a bankrupt US seems to be a curse enough.

I think I should point out that the Tecumseh curse has very little, if anything at all, to do with the position of the asteroids. This phenomena is more correctly associated the successive conjunctions between the superior planets Jupiter and Saturn through the element of earth, which sequence was completed with the triple-conjunction bewteen the two planets in 1980-1981. If anyone else wants to add something on this subject, please feel welcome - but we might start a new thread.

If your fears are related to tertiary progressions then these may be defined both by quality and in time. Maybe we could relate some of these to the political challanges that are likely to confront Obama? At the time of writing he hasn't been president for a week, yet, and in my opinion he has already done quite a bit. Or at least 'tried' to make a change. When I find violence and crises in a chart, I still find it difficult to discern between the doctor and the patient. The doctor may have a chart that shows many detriments, or planets in their detriments or fall. However, these planets may appear in their lesser dignities, which indicates that a person is placed in the midst of trouble with a mission and for a good cause.

Fixed Stars are ancient and traditional, the Asteroids are very modern so an interesting Mix of choices to look at. I have not found the asteroids to be as useful (personal perspective here, not a judgement) in charts unless they hit a specific angle or planet head on, as I have fixed stars.

While I certainly worry about the president, racism is a violent thing very often, I have high hopes that he will be just fine. but asside from that, Astrologically I think starting out with general indicators and only picking up on the more escoteric after you've fleshed out a chart is more likely to give you a clear picture. if you add in all the fixed stars and asteroids you wouldnt' be able to see the chart through the stars. I like Ann Wrights info pages, but please do read Diane Rosenberg and Bernadette Brady.
