by Andrew Bevan I've been out travelling today, so I am not updated on the recent posts but will check on this later. However, I do have som thoughts on yesterday's Spain - Netherlands match. Obviously, I went the wrong way on this (and was lucky to make money on a Spain-bet). But my gravest mistake was the interpretation of the Moon in Capricorn that applied to the oppostion on Mercury retrograde in Cancer. I thought that Mercury retrograde weekened the Netherlands and that the Moon in Capricorn opposed their success, but in fact there was a mutual application between Mercury and his dispositor, the Moon - albeit by oppostion. The opposition may have indicated success for the underdog, or success for Mercury - however with difficulty. It is very difficult so see these aspects and have a clear mind and sound conviction on how they will act out. This knowledge can only be gained by experience. http://www.astronor.com Quote Sat Jun 14, 2014 7:58 pm
by ModWasp The 'old 'L1 for the favs, L7, for the underdog' method seems to be working a treat - my only mistake in the Uruguay vs Costa Rica game tonight was that i didn't lump on when the underdogs conceded the first goal and shot out to 33/1. I did back them at 7/1 before the game though. Is that something people ever look at in football charts? It certainly seemed appropriate last night. There are several approaches but the luminaries and the fortunes may in a general way indicate the favourites. Back to the Spain-Netherlands match; interesting to see that the Lord of the Hour, Saturn, was in a cadent house, namely the 12th. http://www.astronor.com Quote Sat Jun 14, 2014 9:10 pm
by Andrew Bevan I'd like to compare the game between England and Italy with the opening match between Brazil and Croatia. In the Brazil-Croatia game Mercury, L10+LHr, was sextile the Midheaven through signs of Long Ascension. Brazil scored an own goal before turning the match to their advantage. This evening between England and Italy Jupiter, L1, is sextile the MC through signs of Long Ascension, and the similarity might be worth watching. Mercury, LHr, is in the same sign as Jupiter, L1, but Jupiter is also Lord of the 4th and his association to Pisces may be stronger than to Sagittarius from his position in Cancer, as we already have seen an example of in the Spain - Netherlands match. The 4th house tends to bury the result. I think it is difficult to decide who is the asc and desc in this match, and I am prepared to sit back and just watch how things play out. Naturally, I hope for a good game for England! http://www.astronor.com Quote Sat Jun 14, 2014 9:38 pm
by Janis Valkovskis The 'old 'L1 for the favs, L7, for the underdog' method seems to be working a treat Well, if it worked how will you explain that peregrine 8th house retro Mercury won exalted Jupiter. Yesterday, it made sense because Mercury was receiving the opposition from the Moon, its dispositor. In this chart there is no reason to believe that the method worked. I am sure Frawley, the author of the method, would have gone for the favourite. Uruguay's upset was quite unexpected. Even if my association Costa Rica with Gemini is correct (Sun, the lord of hour and the 10th, in Gemini with the POF), regarding which I made some notes), does not explain the upset. All considered, in my opinion, it is not enough for a huge underdog to take all 3 points with only the lord of hour being in his natural sign and with the opponent's significator being aversion to ASC, the POF and lord of hour and being joined to none who renders her light to ASC. The Moon's application to a malefic not being a significator although generally is a slight indication for the underdog, it is usually not enough for 3 points. Costa Rica played in white (Moon). Moon's application to her dispositor is a strong testimony but sextile is weak and it is perfected from a cadent place which is also weak in effect. The Moon's application to a planet in her fall is also a slight indication against the favourite. I think draw would be enough considering the testimonies I see in the chart. Perhaps, the difference in soccer level is not so big and the bookies overrated Uruguay and underrated Costa Rica. Then I could agree that negative testimonies of Venus taken together explain the outcome. I am wondering about the quality of the time of games played at 16:00 local time. Currently both Jupiter and Mercury, lords of ASC - DSC, are aversion to the rising sign. Tomorrow we will have the opportunity to check it again. The games are played in the Southern hemisphere. So signs of long ascension are reverse but near the Equator it does not matter. Quote Sat Jun 14, 2014 10:24 pm

I just quoted according to the technical term. According to Culpepper this effect is based upon the friendship and enemity between the rulers of the signs. Good point, though. Thank you for pointing it out! http://www.astronor.com Quote Sat Jun 14, 2014 10:56 pm

by Andrew Bevan England - Italy 1-2 Difficult to say too much about this game. England were favourites by odds. Maybe the angular Sun on the descendant was better for Leo ruled Italy. Both teams scored. England put up a strong performance. The British have reason to be proud and they still stand a fair chance. http://www.astronor.com Quote Sun Jun 15, 2014 7:58 am
by Andrew Bevan France - Honduras 3-0 Going for a 0-1 and 0-2 handicap worked well here. The Sun was L10 and trine the Moon's north node. Jupiter, L1, was elevated and the Moon, LHr, was inconjunct Mercury, L7. Argentina - Bosnia Herzegovina The handicap should be tried here, too. Mars is LHr and almuten of the Ascendant. He is culminating in the Midheaven with the Moon's north node, and in Libra, the sign associated with Argentina. --------------------------------------------------------- Argentina won 2-1, but the handicap failed! I don't know why. The favourites often offer a poor price, yet their victory is marginal. However, it is the 3 points that is important as far as the contest is concerned. http://www.astronor.com Quote Sun Jun 15, 2014 9:45 pm
by Janis Valkovskis There is always a fly in the ointment with a malefic ruling the hour even if the chart appears radical from a traditional perspective which was not the case by disagreement with the nature of the sign and its ruler unless we count exaltation. Radicality by exaltation might be a hint to overvaluing. In general, the ruler of hour and its condition, apart from any other considerations, tends to show the strength of a favourite, in particular if it is a big one. Malefic as a ruler of hour, unless it is the significator of the favourite, tends someway to harm the favourite. You appeared to have judged Mars in Libra as a favourable indication for Libra signified Argentina. I think it is rather an affliction considering that Venus currently is in the 8th from her masculine domicile. I did not included in my preliminary analysis the consideration regarding the conflict between the ruler of day and the ruler of hour. In other examples I did. Here I did not consider the conflict enough strong for an upset. Agreement (disagreement, receptions, anti receptions) between those is worth monitoring and being included in the judgment. 71 by jventura Hi there, hope I still can join the discussion! Today there are three matches, but there is one in particular which I'm interested in: Germany - Portugal (2014/06/16 13h UTC-3 12S58 38W31) As for odds (bwin), Germany is clearly the favorite with 1.90 and Portugal with 4.10 (draw is 3.70) Here is the Chart: Hour/Day of Moon As for predictions, I follow something similar to Lilly's "battle" delineation. In this case, I take the Asc for the team which will make the kickoff and the descendent for the other team. For the Asc team (which will be assigned to the one which will do the Kickoff), it is signified by a very strong Venus in Taurus in the 8th. It is slightly debilitated by being in the 8th, but it is in sextil with Jupiter (a benefic) which is traditionally a signal of strength. The north-node in the Asc may mean that things will be unstable for the Asc team. As for the Desc team, it is ruled by a debilitated Mars in the 12th house and in the the sign of the Asc. Mars, as I can see, hasn't any considerable accidental dignities which could be of great help. Even more, the south node in the Desc house may also contribute to instability of the Desc Team. The lunar nodes will give some instability to both teams and both rulers in malefic houses can turn this into a very hard game for both teams, so a draw is not entirely out of question. However, my prediction with this technique is that the in the end, the team which will do the kickoff (and which will get the Asc) is essentially the strongest and has the most probability of winning. I'll post the outcome after the game.. Quote Mon Jun 16, 2014 11:16 am
by jventura Hi again, the game has just finished. The kickoff went for Germany which, signified by the Ascendent, won the match. Both teams were quite unremarkable, none did play good football, which I greatly attribute to the fact that the rulers of both teams were in malefic houses, and to the lunar nodes on both the Asc and Desc. In the end, the Ascendent was ruled by Venus which had much greater dignity in Taurus than the Descendent ruled by a debilited Mars in Libra. So, Germany did win the match by 4-0, and I, despite being Portuguese, won 20? on bwin.. Quote Mon Jun 16, 2014 6:04 pm
