In every case there were directions by OA involving either the radix or profected 8th, L8 or planets in the 8th and the radix or profected 1st, L1 or planets in the first. In most there was also a direction involving the Lot of Death or its ruler and if there was not one by OA there was one in the maiora. There was also, in nearly every case, a direction between two directed planets. This approach, instead of turning the degrees of the planets into OA and taking the difference in degrees as years, moves the whole chart in the primary direction by subtracting the required number of years from the OA and then turning the resulting OA back into zodiacal longitude. Instead of doing this for one planet or another all the planets, houses, and lots are moved the same number of years and then compared to locate partile aspects (no need for “orbs”). All that is needed is the radix and a set of tables for the various “climes” or latitudes and it works fine as long as you convert the planet OA back to longitude using their own poles. The cusps also have their own poles; the Lots and nodes are moved using the birth latitude as the pole. I hope to work through a number of birth charts, as further examples, covering 10 or so events in each chart, focused only the OA directions with reference to the profected chart at the time of the event and only include the maiora if the event is not clear from the directions. There are a few calculations that are required before the planets and house cusps can be directed. Step 1 – Calculate Oblique Ascensions of the House Cusps To find the OA of each house add 30° to each house starting from the RAMC. JFK Event: August 2, 1943 PT-109 torpedoed and sunk 79 by janegca The PT-109 boat Kennedy was assigned to during WWII was torpedoed and sunk, Kennedy survived the event despite suffering a life-long injury to his back. By all accounts he displayed a great deal of bravery, swimming out to nearby shipping lanes and waiting hours to hail a passing ship that eventually appeared and rescued what was left of the crew. Given the emphasis on family (4th), siblings (3rd), the 8th, and lot of Death of Siblings, in connection with the two malefics plus Pluto, and Uranus the indications are for an event that will harm a brother. Ironically, the death of Joe Kennedy also meant that Jack would inherit (8th) the role his father had had in mind for him; it was Joe who old Joe Kennedy was originally grooming to one day be President and that role would end up putting JFK's life in peril. Note that the directed 9th is moving in step with directed Pluto through the 8th house. JFK Event: October 1947 Diagnosed with Addison's Disease while in London 81 by janegca While in London Kennedy was diagnosed with Addison Disease. On his sea voyage back to the States he was so ill he was administered Last Rites. The profection was in the 7th, Aries. The directed Sun was also at 19 Aries so the profected cusp is 19 Aries with the Sun usurping/sharing with Mars as the LoY. The Age Arc was approx. 30º21'. The 12th (prof. 6Th, illness), Mars (ruling the prof. 1st and 8th), the SAN, and Travel are all at critical degrees; an indication the year will involve an event connected with travel, illness, 8th house matters (possibly death) that will affect the native's life, possibly long-term as the SAN (which Valen's and Dorotheus both say is connected with a person's rank and success in life) is sextile Mars, ruler of the profected Ascendant. 2. The directed Asc (the person) is conjunct the 12th (profected 6th, illness, disease) and inconjunct the lot of Death (unmitigated, so a true aversion, indicating the disease could well be harmful to the life) while the directed 12th is conjunct directed Travel (he was travelling in London when he was diagnosed). 3. Directed Venus, ruler of the radix Asc, is square radix Saturn in the profected 4th (end of matter) and ruler of the radix 4th. JFK had been ill and in and out of hospital a number of times without knowing what his illness was; the emphasis on the 4th here may be indicating he will find out the real cause now). 4. Directed Saturn is conjunct the South Node in the profected 3rd (news, communication) with Pluto while directed Pluto is involved in a conjunction with radix Mercury (communication, doctors) and a directed square with the Moon (body) which, in the radix, is conjunct the 12th (the profected 6th). So bad news about an illness affecting his body and life, reinforced by the directed Moon sextile the Sun (life) conjunct the profected Ascendant. Also need to consider that the profected 3rd is the radix 9th of long journeys and religion and ruled by Mercury who is sextile the Sun; possibly indicating the reciting of the last rites (Mercury). There are other unfortunate indications here involving the 3rd (siblings), Pluto and Saturn as will be seen in the next event which occurred, under slightly changed circumstances, just before JFK's 31st birthday in 1948. The 11th is the 9th (journey) from the 3rd (siblings) and holds the Moon, ruler of the 10th which is the 8th (death) from the 3rd (siblings) with the Sun (an 8th house planet ruling the 11th, siblings 9th) sextile Neptune (journeys, planes) and trine the radix 3rd (siblings). With that we find Venus (sisters) connected with the Lot of Death (which it rules), square radix Saturn while directed Saturn is with the South Node in the profected 3rd (siblings) and sextile the Lot of the Death of Siblings. So possibly an unfortunate event involving siblings, death, females, connected with risk and travel. None of which looks good for any of JFK's sisters. While Venus is also the ruler of the radix Asc, at the time of the event, neither the radix Asc nor the profected Asc were involved in aspects. In the prior event, which involved Kennedy himself, the directed Asc was inconjunct Death and conjunct the 12th, the profected Asc (7th) was conjunct the Sun which opposed the radix Asc along with Venus (L1) being square Saturn. And, the SAN is no longer critical. Without the involvement of the Ascendant's and with Venus' connections, by direction and profection, to the 3rd, sisters are indicated. Mercury, ruler of the 9th (religion, contracts) is critical. The 9th is usually active if a legal or religious wedding takes place. 2. The directed MC (actions) is sextile Venus (L1) and square Mars (L7, marriage). 3. Directed Venus (L1) is semi-sextile directed Mars (L7) (mitigated by the two signs being of equal-ascension so having the power of a conjunction) 4. The Ascendant is square the radix lot of Marriage Contracts while the directed lot of Marriage Contracts is in opposition to directed Pluto, a 9th house planet. The lot of Marriage is inconjunct Uranus in the profected 5th (romance). The wedding was unusual, at the time, for its size, there was a very large wedding party and over a 1,000 guests. That the marriage would be 'famous' or in the public eye is shown by the directed Sun at the bendings of (square) the radix nodal axis. 5. An indication of the marriage being important to his success in life is the directed SAN sextile radix Uranus in the 4th (profected 5th). The classic Venus-Mars contacts are there and the 9th (indication of a legal marriage) is active as are two marriage lots with the emphasis on Marriage Contracts although the Venus-Mars contacts and 5th house influence would indicate there was at least affection and the marriage was not solely a contractual arrangement. The directed 3rd (Sagittarius in the radix) is square (mitigated with its strength doubled) the Moon. Sagittarius contains the radix lot of Children (24 SA) and the radix Moon is in the 11th (hopes). In the profected chart, Sagittarius is on the 11th (hopes) and the Moon is in the 7th, marriage. The directed 2nd (Scorpio in the radix) is sextile the Moon with Scorpio on the profected 10th (honour, reputation). Although this could be related to Kennedy winning the Pulitzer Prize earlier in the year (haven't looked closely at the May directions). 2. The directed Asc is trine radix Mars, ruler of the 7th (marriage). 3. Directed Neptune is conjunct the lot of Daughters (19 CA) which falls in the profected 5th (children). 4. Jupiter is sextile (mitigated so with the strength of a trine) Mercury, ruler of the profected 5th (children) 5. The directed lot of Marriage is conjunct the radix lot of Daughters. Indications are for an event involving his wife (Moon), marriage (7th), children (5th) and the possibility of a daughter. There are other, more dire looking aspects, but I focused on the strongest: the two conjunctions, the doubled sextile and square. Switched to using Petr's custom tri-wheel chart, much easier to read.
