Hi Janis,

Very interesting analysis. You may be right about the eclipse but it would seem a criminal shame to ignore it considering it is happening during the final! :lala

Nice symbolic logic linking silver and the Moon to Argentina. Having said that I dont see the Moon ever entering into conjunction with Sun without being debilitated. Its combust and therefore very weakened even if it is in its own sign. However, I know there is a school of thought that believes it is protected from harm as the domicile lord. Another link to Argentina and Cancer is the 1822 chart (declaration of independence) where the Sun , Venus and Mercury are found in that sign.

I wouldn't generally give that much focus that the 10th house from the 11th myself. What I note is that the dispositor of the part of Fortune is Saturn in Virgo. The lot of exaltation is in Capricorn and disposited by Saturn in Virgo too. This was a hellenistic technique calculated from the 11th whole sign house from part of fortune.
I believe that Germany or England will the team to play against Argentina in the final.

Very interesting. The lot of exaltation in Capricorn and prominence to Saturn makes me think you might have a point. Germany has always had a strong Capricorn element too in every chart since 1871. As you note the ASC ruler Saturn is in Virgo as is the domicile Lord of the MC. In the Unification chart for Germany (1990) the MC is at 10'37 Aries putting it on the exact antiscia of the MC ruler (Mars) in the chart for the final! That seems a powerful link to me.

I have been using another technique to analyse this chart that strongly emphasizes Virgo too. I will discuss that later. Of course that could be Brazil too as its linked to that sign.

I dont assign outer planets rulerships to signs myself. Uranus exaltation ruler of Scorpio! Well you learn something new every day. :)
Tradional rulers of Scorpio Mars and Saturn of Acquarius both in Virgo casting antiscas to Aries (Germany or England). It should suffice for Germany or England to play in the final. If there were no eclipse, I would say that Germany or England would gain the gold. The Sun ruling Aries by exaltation in Cancer ruled by Jupiter exaltation disposed in Aries (mutual reception by exaltation). The eclipse is going to make the Sun, the exalted lord of Aries (Germany or England), totally powerless. It means that Germany or England will most probably not win.
Fascinating. I agree there is an antiscia links to Jupiter in Aries through Saturn in Virgo. Good point about the Sun as exaltation Lord. I hadn't thought of that.
I am inclined to think that Germany will play
That seems quite plausible to me.

Another national chart that seems to resonate well is Spain. The MC ,Mercury and the Sun in the Spanish national chart (1975) conjunct the MC for the final. The chart has the same signs on the angles ( Aquarius Rising). Transiting Saturn (the ascendant ruler) will be forming a tight sextile to the radical Spanish Sun during the final. Jupiter is also in Aries in that chart. Moreover, the traditional chart used for Spain (1479) also has Aquarius rising and a late Scorpio MC.

So I can see strong links to Spain , Argentina, Brazil and maybe Germany.

mmm thats still 4 countries and I haven't even checked Portugal... :???:

A delineation method used by Stephen Birchfield for the UK general election is to look at the Dorothean triplicity rulers of the MC. The method was suggested for an Aries Ingress chart I but plan to adapt it to the event chart for the final. Both the domicile and night triplicity ruler (Mars) falls in Virgo. The Moon is the participating triplicity ruler and placed in Cancer. We are therefore looking for countries associated with these signs. I would suggest Virgo is probably Brazil while Cancer is Argentina. The Moon's strength in its sign of domicile rulership is countered by debility of combustion. On that basis I judge the angular Mars in Virgo indicates more likely success for Brazil.

However, I thought I might experiment with another method to determine the teams in the final. As far back as Ptolemy directions have been associated with signs of the zodiac. I haven't tried this method before but I thought I might try it out here.

The chart MC (Scorpio) and luminaries (Cancer) fall in water signs which indicates a northerly direction. On the other hand both the Ascendant ruler and MC ruler falls in an earth sign indicating the South. I take this to indicate a Northern hemisphere team will play a southern hemisphere team in the final. The likeliest outcome is therefore a European vs a South American team. The testimony of MC ruler, ASC ruler and POF dispositor all in Virgo indicates a southern hemisphere team winning. Realistically, that looks like either Argentina or Brazil. Traditionally it is Brazil rather than Argentina that is symbolised by Virgo. So I tend to favour Brazil. Of the European teams Spain seems to me best linked to the chart for the final.

So using the triplicity ruler method I come up with a likely Brazil vs Argentina final. On the other hand using the directional approach I have come up with Brazil vs Spain final or possibily Argentina vs Spain. I haven't checked out out if these scenarios are at all likely in terms of the way the groups are organised. I am going to check out more finals to see if either of these methods actually work in practice!

However, maybe whole approach of profiling countries from the finals chart is misguided on its own. More research required I think. :???:

Very interesting prediction, Goca. It also fits the pattern that it's South America's turn to win!
Janis wrote:Argentina usually starts not very convincingly gaining confidence with the course of the tournament, it may come second in the group.
Argentina are odds-on faves to win their group so it would be a big upset if they came second. Their first match against Nigeria (2nd faves) on Saturday will be key. Interestingly there is a Moon/Sun conjunction in this chart!

In Nevada,USA where sports betting is legal, we always had the Home team listed second, away team first.but I'm gathering that's not the case here... I'd like to get my Color schemes straightened out before I prepare charts.
Hi Pat, yes the 'home' team is listed first and will wear their home colours. In international games I think (although I'm not entirely sure) that the 'away' team automatically wear their away kit - unless there is a colour clash with the 'home' team of course. (This is the reverse of what happens in domestic games!) Good luck with it! I will be very interested to see your game analyses/predictions if you care to post them here. As well as using the fave/underdog method, I shall also be assessing games from a team colours point of view, as I'm sure Goca will be too. It's particularly valuable for games being played at the same time.

I think Mercury in the 7th house will favour Mexico. Moon is also placed in the 7th house. Mexico may win the opening match. But I am confused in the France V Uruguay match. Kindly share your views.

Very interesting observations, Mark. I'm glad someone has mentioned Spain at last, particularly in view of the fact that they are faves to win the whole thing!

If they have a clear run through, then Brazil/Spain and Brazil/Argentina are very likely. You can see this from the odds:

Argentina/Spain is much farther down the list. There would have to be one or two upsets in the earlier rounds for this scenario to occur, e.g. Argentina coming second in their group as Janis has suggested.

I supported Spain in Euro 2008 (which they won) and will be supporting them again this time (along with England of course). The Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Aries suggests "now for something completely different". The WC being played on African soil for the first time could be the "something completely different", but it might also indicate a country that hasn't won before, e.g. Spain :)

Hello Ficina,

Thanks. I still have a lot of charts to check to see whether these approaches have any practical merit.

I am so out of it I didn't even realise Spain were favourites! Still that would rather break up the pattern of rotatating Latin American/European champions that has operated since 1962. Equally, no all South American final since 1950! As you state with Uranus in Aries and the Uranus-Jupiter conjunction (plus the Saturn -Uranus opposition) it maybe does mean its time to shake up the old patterns. I have decided not to look at odds for now. I think its just likely to influence my judgement on the outcome. Although, as I plan to place a bet tomorrow I suppose I better take a peek beforehand.

If we look acc dignities for Sa, Uruguay (dark blue/black kit) =7, for France -11, this is advantage for Uruguay. We see also Ve, lord of 10th on cusp 7 house, so Uruguay control France team. Moon, ruler of France is at same degree as Nodes. Any planets in the same degree as the Moon's nodes indicate some sort of catastrophe, a casualty - that is sign that the match is out of the France;s hands. So, in my opinion Uruguay will win.

Just a question, what if it is France that play in blue and also Uruguay play in light blue whereas France do actually play in dark blue.

According to this site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uruguay_na ... tball_team
home sport kit for Uruguay is blue/black.

According to this site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France_nat ... tball_team
away sport kit for France is blue/white.

As Sa, ruler of ASC is connected with black, and as Moon is no connected with black, that means ASC is Uruguay. Moon is conneced with white and blue, Can is connected with white/blue, Cap and Sa is no conneceted with white, so DSC is France.

When you decide what color to asign for one team you must look simultaneously that another color fits with another team. Yes, here is complicated , both rulers are in mutable sign, indicating kits with 2 colors. Here Moon in Ge, sure is no way connected with black, and that is difference in color among these 2 teams. I think France will wear white/blue sport kit because of broadcasting so watchers can easy recognize "who is who".

In my reply to Pat re team colours, I said I thought 'away' teams automatically wear their away colours. Turns out I was wrong. According to FIFA regulations:

"As far as possible, each team shall wear its official [home] colours... If the two teams? colours and the referees? colour might cause confusion, in principle, team A in the official match schedule will be entitled to wear its official team kit and team B will use its reserve [away] team kit or, if necessary, both teams may have to wear a combination of their official and reserve team kits. FIFA will endeavour to ensure that each team wears its official team kit at least once during the tournament."
