One part in the Venus ruled Taurus and the other (with Alcyone) in the Mercury ruled Gemini. If the Moon is with Alcyone tonight, she just left her exaltation. Sun also recently left his exaltation and just entered Taurus afew days ago. Mercury is still in Taurus, just before entering 'his' sign. Venus is just in Aries, short after leaving exaltation. Mars is alright in Aries. Interesting is that if the Moon, Sun and Venus are 'clicked' one sign backwards or if you look from the sidereal zodiac reference, then these are all in their exaltation. I must admit though that, since I feel most for the ideas of Kepler, I don't pay much attention to the signs and their exaltations and rulerships. They are an interesting subject but at least I would prefer a 'smooth' transition from sign to sign, which seems more natural to me than the 'sudden' switches at 0? of each sign. This is complete correct: As to the Moon's occultations we should always differ between geocentric and local position ! She is so near to the earth that we must not neglect her parallax. But with this specification it remains correct to say, that from north-western Europe (Great Britain, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany) there was no occultation of the Pleiades to be seen tonight because there was none. A clear sky is absolutely nessecary. Here in the Netherlands the Sun shines but as it has been hazy too there's little chance. Next challenge could be to look for the reappearance of Mars. He is getting further and further away of the Sun, just like neighbouring Venus. By the way, being fixed on Venus I've totally forgotten to look for Jupiter in the morning, this should be easy . (Dykes, p.309 ff.) makes me want to go back to some of the great posts from Eddy and Margherita on the first page of this thread. They both commented on the heavy rains that we had during the period of the conjunction. Masha?allah writes in his chapter (Dykes p.321) that there will be heavy rains during the period that Venus is under the rays, but if she is then oriental of the Sun (as now); ?it will be the beginning of dryness.? So it will be interesting to monitor how that latter part of that aphorisms hold up to our ongoing observations. So far in Britain, since that period of heavy rains around the conjunction, the weather has mainly been sunny and pleasant. Of course this does not include the recent ?May day? bank holiday, because we have a policy in Britain of not allowing Sunshine on public holidays or during Wimbledon; but otherwise Masha?allah?s aphorism seems to be holding out so far.
