Hello everyone,

After the publication of his book the Babylonian Astrolabe in 2013, Rumen Kolev has again made astrological history.

He went to Egypt this year in search of the "lost books of Hermes", as he calls them. He found some of them. They are in manuscripts in the libraries, in Arabic.

That is amazing news that should be known far and wide by the astrological community, especially by those who practise any form of Ancient Western Astrology.

Just like Valens went to Egypt in search of knowledge and eventually was able to get it, 1,800 years later history is repeating itself. I sincerely hope that these manuscripts will, if not reveal secrets, then elaborate on some of the key and complex astrological areas.

Hi Paul,

Are you asking about "the lost books of Hermes", or in general?

If about the former, not yet, because he is still in Egypt and has not begun translating.

If about the latter, Rumen has translated works of Hermes (On the Fixed Stars), Luca Gaurico, Regiomontanus, etc. They are available also in English. He always publishes the original source text on the next page, so readers can view his translation as well as the Latin or Greek text.

I meant specifically the "lost books", I wasn't sure if the youtube videos were to promote a new book for example. If not, I'll try to just sit down and watch them.

The youtube videos are meant to inform people interested in Ancient Astrology about Rumen's project for locating "the lost books of Hermes" as he calls it.

I have watched both videos. If you are short on time, I suggest the first one. The second one is way more technical, and he also translates from Arabic there.

Zagata, have you got a c.v. for Rumen Kolev? I'm just curious, what his is education? Especially such that he could translate Arabic, presumably a medieval form. I've looked at his web site, and I haven't been able to learn much about his educational and employment background.

Zatata, could you perhaps translate only the first paragraph for us? I could make out Rumen's birth date and also "PHD" and UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles).

Too bad, I don't read the Cyrillic alphabet, let alone Bulgarian.
