I have a question: does anyone have any charts that ask "When will something occur" in which the Moon is VOC? Does timing between the significators apply then, even if the Moon is VOC?

Also, what if the only aspects between the signficators have passed? According the McEvers, one may use past aspects ONLY in this instance to assess timing: does anyone have charts that prove this out?

Obviously the timing of an event is only applicable when we have already established that the event will happen. I don' think VOC necessarily suggests an event won't happen (assuming there is an applying aspect between the main significators) but it may suggest that it will not happen in the way that one might hope and perhaps even that it would be better if this event doesn't happen. I would be very hesitant to judge the timing of an event where the Moon is VOC, partly because I couldn't be confident of the way the event will play out, if at all.

As for timing, I don't have the March/McEvers book with me but when they suggest using separating aspects to time events I would imagine they are talking about timing how long in the past this event occurred. If the significators are separating then the event has already happened.

If they are saying that a future event, clearly being expressed in the chart (e.g. applying aspect between main significators) can be timed by looking at the known timing of a relevant past event shown in the chart then, yes, it can be done.

John Frawley talks about timing future events using the known timing of a past event but, as he points out, this is when the chart clearly shows that the event enquired about will take place. You might like to read his article on timing events if you haven't already.

However, your original question asked 'what if the only aspects between the signficators have passed?' If there is no future event being shown in the chart then no amount of timing of past events is going to show the timing of a non-existent future event.

Thank you Sue, that makes a lot of sense to me... but then that darn McEvers book has me all disoriented.

So if I have chart that asks "when" and the Moon is Void or there is no applying aspect between the significators, I guess there's no way of interpreting it... I'll just wait and see.

I would say the interpretation is that the event won't happen. We should probably never ask a 'when' question before we ask a 'will' question unless we know for absolute certain that the event will take place.
