the idea framed differently might be - what are the security needs of all the countries concerned? has this been answered? it appears the answer is no and this from a number of different countries point of view... is there a way for an acceptance of everyone's security needs being met? and for this to happen, conversations have to happen too... i seems to me some are not listening to what the others have to say.. obviously it is my viewpoint that war = money.. there is a lot of money to be made in all of this, but at the cost of innocent people's lives.. back to nato chart...

apparently the treaty went into effect 24th aug 1949... i was using 2 charts for nato- one for the date april 4th 1949, and one for aug 24th 1949 when the treaty became a reality.. it seems the astro community is mostly using the aug 24th chart, so i will do likewise... just a quick note on the chart i left a week or so ago for nato ... morinus does not pick up on dst or no dst and today while working on the chart on solar fire, in happened to notice that the chart i was using on morinus was wrong and 1 hour out due the dst... bottom line - i am still working with sidereal zodiac here and will post in this framework..

details of the chart - 1142 am daylight savings time, washington dc. aug 24th 1949.. ascendant 9 libra 54'20" and midheaven 15 cancer 33'58' all according to morinus software..

i think it's helpful to bring one of, if not the main protagonist, in the dynamic facing europe and the world today... nato was brought into being a bit less then 2 years after the cia came into being..

dasa periods... this is an indian astrology tool which i am still learning to integrate into my astrological understanding.. it is a timing device essentially... i am using vimsottari dasa, the most popular dasa system in use, but there are other systems.. in fact, dr k s charak recommends using a few for futher confirmation...

dasa period at present is the very end of the jupiter dasa period which started june 1st 2008 and ends with jupiter/rahu..

jupiter/rahu began jan 7 2022 and ends with saturn dasa june 1st 2024..

what is interesting here is how the jupiter dasa started in 2008 which was the year that nato pursued its expansionist ideology to include a number of other countries including ukraine, into the nato sphere of influence...

apparently one reads the strength or weakness of the dasa based off the natal position of the planet, in this case - jupiter and its relationship with the other planets, especially when considering the bhutki planet for the various time periods.. the bhutki period is the 2nd planet that shares the time frame with the dasa lord, in this case - jupiter..

another way to get more insight into how jupiter dasa period would unfold is to consider the navamsa chart and its position in this chart... unfortunately morinus doesn't do divisional charts, but looking at solar fire i see that jupiter is again in capricorn, the sign of its fall.. my take is jupiter energy in nato 2 chart doesn't work in a positive and productive way given this set up.. jupiter is at 0 degree capricorn 16'.. perhaps it has some shadbala strength by being close to its sign sag... i also don't have an indian software program which would generate its shadbala score for me... jupiter is the handle of the bucket chart here though, so it retains a greater role in the roll the chart would play symbolically... jupiter is in an out of sign opposition to mars and it is also in an out of sign square to the rka -rahu ketu axis.. all of this is not helpful and would reflect on the jupiter dasa period..

i think the jupiter/rahu combo for this time frame is a mixed bag as i see it.. rahu likes to start things and it seems this is indeed one way of looking at what is happening here in terms of the expansion of relationships of countries being considered for nato membership..

i don't buy into the concept of nato being a purely defensive alliance... however, i suppose when confronted with a mars transit, or a solar arc direction involving mars, it could always be projected onto the other... that is what it looks like to me here.. projection works not just on an individual basis, but also on a national and international level... i have never made a good freudian analyst and never really tried. i will leave that to the professionals... here are the outstanding solar arc directions at present..

i would like the images to be bigger for others to see better... below is the solar hybrid eclipse for april 20th 2023.. this happens to land on the decendant of the nato chart... i am unable to do biwheels on morinus and am not yet able to transfer images from my laptop with solarfire onto this computer.. hopefully i can get this rectified in the next few months... data for the chart below is april 20th 2023, 0:12:19 washington dc. so you can look at the chart if interested... i am not sure why it is called a solar hybrid eclipse..

here are some thoughts on the solar returns for 2021.. i will look at the solar return 2022 in another post..

the chart still in operation is the first one with moon in cancer rising in the ascendant... it is a leo profection year.. leo rules the 11th house in the natal chart.. this is about friendships, humanitarian organizations, non governmental organizations - ngos perhaps, and visions for the future perhaps... the natal chart has sun in leo, so one would think this would highlight the great strengths associated with the suns placement natally.. perhaps it is offset some being in the same sign as saturn, but overall i think it is placed well.. one can bring in the idea of the 2 lights being besieged by pluto-saturn.. i am not sure about that...

anyway.. what i do is consider this placement as having bearing on the year in question given it is a leo profection year... what is happening with the sun in the 2021 solar return chart? it is in the 2nd house of money.. have natos finances gotten a boost? i would say they have.. they have the perfect reason to ramp up spending on nato here..

as for how to interpret the chart using the solar return, my approach is to put emphasis on the planets in the angles.. they are moon in cancer in the ascendant, and saturn in capricorn in the descendant.. perhaps to a great extent venus rising is also an important consideration here too.. however it is tangled up in the square to the rka and uranus, and in an opposition to saturn, so maybe not so much, or it is a mixed bag... what i tend to think is that the way the planets are set up in the natal chart have bearing on these planets in the solar return chart... the moon and saturn are in a conjunction in the natal chart, also in the 11th house.. on the surface the 2 planets in the angles - moon and saturn - seems positive, but factoring in the natal chart, perhaps not so much... moon-saturn conjunctions are always kind of yukky, no matter what... in this chart moon and saturn rule the 1st and 7th houses.. perhaps one country wants everyone to be unified and some other countries are not feeling unified in their position on all of the decisions being made by nato..

at the same time there is this drive for greater membership - including finland, sweden and who knows who else into the nato fold.. maybe this is the strong lunar energy of cancer moon rising wanting to herd all the family, or expand the family here.. not sure.. f

when you do the biwheel with natal on the inside and solar return on the outside, one can see this cancer moon at 15 cancer right on the same degree of natos midheaven, so the theme seems very important to me.. now, apparently i have been reading charts wrong all these years, and one is supposed to put the solar return chart on the inside and the natal on the outside! a little birdie told me this and i haven't quite figured it out... so, i continue on in my befuddled manner..

thats it for today on the solar return, still in operation for at present.. i will try to comment on the one coming up in august of this year in my next installment... meanwhile i note the eclipse chart i shared at the bottom of the post above will be close to the ascendant axis in the nato chart.. usually eclipses hitting very close to the ascendant axis are very important.. not sure how this plays out, but will try to talk about it in one of these posts...

this years solar return for aug 2023 coincides with an important eclipse which happens to land within about 5 degrees of the ascendant axis in this chart for nato..

the profection year is virgo - mercury .. mercury in the solar return chart for 2023 lands in the 12th house, in an out of sign opposition to neptune, but a nice trine to jupiter in the sr 8th house.. virgo rising in the profection chart puts it in the 12th house to the nato chart which has libra rising so a lot of 12th house type energy as i read it... mars is way behind the ascendant degree, but in the same sign as the ascendant - virgo... this puts mars in the 12th house of the nato chart.. mars rules the 3/8 houses in the sr chart..

i think the big dynamic is saturns opposition to the sun ( but not according to my understanding of solar return planets in angles being most significant)... sun rules the 12th of the sr chart, so perhaps a number of hidden difficulties plague natos moving forward in a constructive way in the coming year..

the closest planet to the angles of the sr chart in terms of degrees is pluto in an out of sign conjunction with the ic.. perhaps nato is cooking up a lot of insidious things for russia in its attempt to take down russia thru the war in ukraine.. hard to know how successful they will be.. the responsibility for the nordstream pipeline has still not been acknowledged by anyone, and perhaps it never will be, but is definitely a nefarious or worse act that reflects some of the dynamics at play in the present... one way to think about it is, who wins or loses from such an act? perhaps i will do a chart for this event later..

the big thing though is the nodal axis in the sr chart being about 6 degrees off the rising sr ascendant, and the south node in the nato chart being very close to exact this sr ascendant degree.. an important year is indicated based on my read of this... i like judith hills description of eclipses landing on sensitive points or planets in a persons chart... north node or rahu - power surge // south node or ketu - power outage.... if the term power outage is an accurate reflection, then nato will suffer some type of power outage in the next year if using the 2023 solar return is any indication... that is my take at present..

i'd like to add some relevant info on nato here that is probably going un noticed... my take is that nato is in a war with russia right now.. by nato, i am mostly thinking usa-uk, but it does include the others as well under their leadership.... it seems during an interview with a Ukrainian TV station the Oleksii Reznikov, the defense minister of Ukraine, answered that the Ukraine has "already become a de facto member of the NATO alliance." see the youtube video and use the translation feature.. the quote above comes at about 1'25' into the video.. the quote below is some of what he has said happens from about 11:05 onward.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Oqi0oIprFg
