Hi, I‘m new here, English is not my first language but I hope to be able to get my ideas across.

One of my astrological interests is medical astrology. I wonder how to set up the time for a decumbiture if I want to treat myself and the disease is chronic and it‘s beginnings are lost in past times.

I could not succeed using the forum‘s search.
Does anybody have an idea how to handle this problem?

Hi there - a decumbiture chart is generally cast for the beginning of an acute illness - literally the time the 'patient' takes to their bed. I don't think you could cast a decumbiture for a chronic illness, where the onset of the illness is unknown. You might cast a chart for the first time you consulted a medical practitioner about your symptoms, but this wouldn't be a decumbiture chart as such.

You might want to seek out Classical Medical Astrology - Healing with the Elements by Oscar Hofman, who trained with John Frawley. When a decumbiture time cannot be known, he recommends casting a horary chart for the question: What is wrong with me? The book goes into detail about what to look for in that particular context. Even though English is not your first language, I think from reading your post that you'll be able to follow Hofman/s logic and ideas just fine.

I do not agree that a decumbiture can only be done for acute diseases. There are several examples for chronical problems. In this article Dylan Warren-Davis writes:

The infectious acute fevers with their very defined time of onset that were commonplace in Culpeper's day, have been replaced by chronic illness of a much more insidious and imperceptible onset.

And he treats charts made up for first consulations as regular decumbitures with success.
The problem is, treating myself doesn’t give a first consulation time to me.

I know this book and did a horary about my relativ harmless chronical diseases. I followed the suggestions for help of plants and did digesting and purging with some good effect. But some symptoms remain and I wanted the clearer and more detailed informations of a decumbiture.
