I just found out that Mexico has abolished daylight savings time for every region in 2023!

So any Mexican charts for this summer are wrong if your software is not updated. If Mexican Daylight Time or CDT is showing for current charts this is wrong and you will have to switch the time zone to CST (+6) manually.

Check and make sure your astrology app is updated. You can always do a direct atlas query at astro.com too.

Solar Fire which uses the ACS Atlas is updated but at least for me when I went to check for updates from within the program under 'Help" it showed no updates were available. I had to go to their Software Updates & Documentation page at https://alabe.com/downloads/default.asp#stand89 to download this update. This worked fine.

Sri Jyoti Star 9 has updated.

Sirius 4, I am not sure, I have a query into astrolabe software about that. I was unable to access any update within the program.

I don't know about other programs if they have updated this change or not. The older program version you use these sorts of errors will compound.

wow! kudos to mexico for being ahead of the curve here... i know saskatchewan - province in canada doesn't do dst, and i believe there are some states in the usa that don't do dst either... i know where i live in b.c. - they have talked about changing it and going with the cascadia area in unison - washington, oregon and california - but it has been held up in making this a reality...

Hawaii and Arizona don't observe DST in the US. There are many western states that want to do away with time change too but instead of standard time have passed measures to stay on daylight saving time permanently — a move that some have called "lock the clock." For some states, they're willing to go forward with it as long as a few of their neighbors do the same. In fact, Colorado has passed the law for permanent DST it's just waiting on Congress because none of these laws can take effect until there is a federal appeal of the congressional Uniform Time Act of 1966 that mandates the country use daylight saving time. What it doesn't allow is for states to permanently establish daylight saving time.

It's nice to have the extra daylight in the summer, but mostly I just wish they would choose one and do away with the time change.

The reality is that Congress needs to repeal the law in order for the U.S. to stop using daylight saving time. They can't even do this one simple piece of legislation which for decades research has shown that changing the clocks twice a year is detrimental on so many accounts. Legislators are too busy name calling across the aisle I guess to actually get something pragmatic done.

the lock the clock idea is a great idea, as opposed to what we have now... i just wish they'd completely get rid of dst, and am not as thrilled about the concept of permanent dst, but it would be better then what we have now.... change is so very slow, isn't it?? someone comes along with this brilliant idea to mess with the time and everyone goes along with it.. clearly the world is not a democratic place!

Hey All: Sirius 4 has an update for the recent change in Mexico moving to only standard time and other minor stuff.

You will have to contact their customer support at cosmicpatternsoftware@gmail.com. or through their website as it is not available through the programs internal updater.

It's a shame the internal updater is no longer active but due to theft the link is available only through email in order to make it more difficult for illegal users of the program. I had my request for the update fulfilled in less than 36 hours on a weekend which I felt was pretty prompt.

BTW... remember to include your customer number and address in any correspondence with Cosmic Patterns as this will speed the process up. They are very fastidious about verification and will not give you the goods until this is done.

Astrolog 7.60 has this update for Mexico in its time change tables. Any download of Astrolog 7.60 (which was released in April of this year) will automatically know that Mexico is always in standard time starting in 2023.

Astrolog uses the public domain TZ database for time zone and Daylight Saving time information, and therefore any changes in TZ will be reflected in the next version of Astrolog. Since Astrolog is free, its time change tables can be viewed online for free too, and a human readable list of all time zone areas in the world and when they change (up through 2027) can be seen at: https://www.astrolog.org/ftp/atlas/timezone.txt
