To the best of my knowledge, the traditional technique corresponding to Solar Arcs Direction is Primary Direction, and they represent divergent approaches.

However, in my recent practical chart analysis, I've found that Solar Arcs direction can also "reflect" certain events. This has left me both delighted and frustrated because I also want to adhere to a particular system. But my idol, William Lilly, has also said to trust one's true experiences. The three outer planets aren't part of the traditional astrology system, yet in practical experience, they do have their influence.

I only have Noel Tyl's book, "Solar Arcs - Astrology's Most Successful Predictive System," at hand.

I feel that Solar Arcs wasn't something he invented or discovered, right?

So, who discovered and invented Solar Arcs direction? When? What were the earliest articles or books published on this topic?

The basic concept of the technique of Solar Arc Directions is probably as old as the known history of astrology. It appears that this technique evolved from the Primary Directions technique which was first described in the Tetrabiblos.

In the book you mentioned by Noel Tyl, he says...
'during the first half of the seventeenth century, Johannes Kepler [who had been an assistant to Tycho Brahe and was court mathematician, astrologer, and astronomer to the emperor Rudolph II, king of Rumania and Hunqarvi recognized that planets moved with variable speeds in elliptical orbits and invented some ten minor aspects. He is said to have considered that the number of davs after birth that the Sun took to reach a natal planet was equivalent to the number of years of the native's life that would elapse before the indicated influence would manifest itself. This is a reference contemporaneous with the work of Maginus and Naibod, preparing the way for Secondary Progressions and eventually pure Solar Arc theory.)

Peter Gadek in 'History of the Astrological Technique of SA Directions' also says that the technique evolved from the Primary Directions but it really took off in the 19th century.
