1.) Always am flabbergasted when I have a horary with the following condition:
Planet A perfects an aspect to planet C first, by degrees (time units).
Planet B perfect an aspect to planet C first, by real time / ephemeris time.
I'm rather certain that the first condition (by degrees) would be the proper way of looking at things from a textbook / tradition point of view.
Alas, this is sometimes difficult for me, as the chart is supposed to shows events which happen by a certain chronological sequence.
When you adopt such an approach the second point of view suddenly becomes enticing.
What do you lean to, when such a situation presents itself and when all three planets are major significators in the question.
(say it was a relationship question of Joe (planet A) wants to win over Sally (planet C), and Tom (planet B) barges in all of a sudden)

2.) Had a few horary relationship questions, in two of which L1 and L7 were separating (by opposition, no less).
I used traditional orb definitions, according to Deb's table of orbs, in order to predict how much time will pass till the relationship will fall apart.
Say The moon was in 6-deg Virgo and Saturn was in 1-deg Pisces; delineated as possible final-breakup in 5.5 time units (was weeks if you have to ask).
That's because the orb between the two is 10.5 degrees.
Do you ever use orbs in such a way in horary or natal? (I know this is the horary forum, but please be forgiving).

In 'Timing in Horary Astrology', Ema Kurent says...
'In timing, disregard sign boundaries. Disregard the so-called »frustrations«. If something is bound to happen and the only question is »when«, just take the Moon (or an angle) and bring it to the nearest angle or the aspect with a significator. That’s the simplest and most reliable thing to do. So simple, but so difficult because our textbooks do not encourage us to be bold.'

'Logic tells us, and my experience has confirmed that, very often, the chart factors to use in such cases are not planets but the points which mark the rotation of the earth upon its axis, and the main 4 are, as we know, the ascendant, descendant, MC and IC.'
This is one approach.

Alphee Lavoie uses a combination of symbolic and ephemeris time.
Let's say you find out that there is 4 units between the significators. You test it with 4 days, 4 weeks, 4 months and you look up in the ephemeris and check if the significators are showing up something in these time units.
In this approach, one system validates the other.

Another indicator in terms of time unit is the change of direction from one of the significator in the ephemeris. From R to D or from D to R. They show up a change in the matter inquired about.
I have found this approach to be consistently reliable.

And there is nothing wrong in telling your client about the possible scenarios. And why not use the birth chart of your client and see if something shows up with the time unit and ephemeris.
But it is one of the most difficult question to answer.

How do you use the angles in horary timing then? Just significators reaching angles by conjunction? Or by some other aspect? Do you also check primary motion (diurnal motion)?

Yes, I sometimes give scenarios when I'm not sure, and also I cross reference with the natal.
