The Alexandria iBase Project is a donation-based initiative set up in 2020 with the aim of preserving precious astrological texts and the personal papers of notable astrologers.

The developers are at Phase One of the project – building the AIP AstroCat into a library catalogue of astrological works in private collections and developing a resource of digital astro-texts available in the public domain. Very recently the AIP announced the addition of a ‘Special Collections’ section, a work in progress for which the first collection offers digital editions of Mercury Hour, a US-based magazine first published in 1974. Their promotion explains:

“It's a really fun collection, a look into the astrological thinking of the time. The articles, comments, and letters to the editor were all submitted by working astrologers of the day”.

Additions are still being made, but you can check out what is currently available at special-collections.alexandriaibase.org.

thanks! that is interesting... scanned one of the editions from 1980.. it would be nice if there was a page index on the individual links, but i was able to eventually find the title i was looking for..

The recent Skyscript newsletter included a horary from the 1995 Impractical Astrologer "rag mag" - I loved it. And now, looking through these issues of the Mercury Hour, I'm finding lots of humor. Like the page below (from the April 1977 edition). Oh man, I wish there was still this lightheartedness more often in the "community" nowadays. It's great. :)

Oh, I agree - self-deprecating humour can be so healing for reminding us not to take everything so seriously. And I chuckle at how much whoever wrote those questions must have chuckled when setting them
