Today marks the 15th birthday of the Jones Quintuplets, American siblings born on January 16th at 12:10 PM in Austin, TX (Astrodatabank). Multiple births present a unique puzzle for astrologers who work with nativities to consider. I’ve heard it mentioned that in naturally occurring births, an astrologer might be able to use rectification in order to see minor changes to the ASC (decans, aspect orbs, etc.), but in a scenario such as this, where the C-section was the likely procedure – what then consulting astrologers? If these 5 simultaneously booked with you for natal/annual assessments, how would you proceed?

My partner of six years is a twin, birthed naturally. He and his brother were born 4 minutes apart (according to hospital records). They just so happened to be born with three planets tightly conjoined angles, and in the 4-minute span between their coming into this world, one planet set below the DESC, while the two others moved closer to being exact on the MC/IC axis. Since we met, I’ve been observing their charts year after year. The similarities in events related to time lords are definitely there, but their personalities are distinctly different, which, I think, contributes to variances in outcomes. The twin with Venus above the DESC is notably more outgoing, while the one with Venus just below is more reserved. Also, both have had very different outcomes to similar opportunities, which I guess brings up the factor of encounter for consideration – which twin is interacting with what person or organization, and how does the unique chemistry of the astrology involved push or pull in different directions? There’s a lot to consider, but I think these sorts of scenarios are a good reminder that natal astrology has its limits (as far as planetary combination delineations pertaining to shared personality traits and predictions about success/frustration in specific areas of life).

But I digress; back to the Jones Quintuplets and their birth chart, it’s interesting:
The time given an A rating by Astrodatabank has an anarectic degree ASC – further complicating attempts at a 5-person natal reading, or maybe simplifying things as the group may be divided up between those with Mars as ASC ruler, those with Venus. (Or, for those who work in sidereal - how does the ASC (,etc.) differ? Does that add any insight?)

As for the chart as an event, it’s interesting that Mars (surgeries) collects light from both Venus (uterus) and the Moon (belly); Mercury (multiplicities) and Jupiter (childbearing) apply to one another; the Moon is at the bendings, with the south node (a point of release?) on the cusp of the 5th (children).

it would be very interesting to get the mothers birth data to understand this more fully.. it seems to me this would be a major event in her life and the fathers perhaps.. it reminds me of modern science, technology and how freak events like this are a result of our understanding of how to manipulate life at present.. "you can't have babies? try this.." sort of approach which is popular today in the medical realm..

it is a mystery how twins born at the same time can lead very different lives.. how does astrology account for it? there would be a very small time difference.. perhaps midpoints to the angles could explain some of this... after that - i am not sure..

what is most interesting to me is mercury as ruler of the 3rd - siblings - in conjunction with rahu and jupiter - both with the general meaning of an abundance or more... next is the saturn in leo in the 5th - the issue of having children might be seen as problematical in the childrens birth giving ability based off this chart.. in fact saturn is in an interesting set up here as it is in the 8th from the sun using solar houses and the 12 th from the moon using lunar houses.. at the same time the venus-uranus conjunction implies something unusual or unorthodox, and perhaps as it is in the 11th - the 11th has some association with having children as well as i understand it..

mars as ruler of the ascendant/8th and in a conjunction to the midheaven degree is also interesting and implies some sort of recognition - perhaps associated with being born at the same time as 4 others from the same mom??
