Will my husband do his PhD here?

1
Dear members,

I am a first time poster but long time lurker. I have been practicing astrology since 2007, but horary only just recently. I am always confused when turning charts and when asking third party questions such as this one. So, my husband is actively applying to PhD program for Fall 2024 intake, both in the US and UK. The US is very competitive; we are not feeling hopeful about those prospects. These days we are looking forward to relocating to the UK to do a PhD there. Just recently my husband came across a Phd program in Birmingham that really caught his interest.

I asked the question and I asked will anything come from applying to this particular University? Will he be accepted, will they offer him something, will he be rejected? (He is currently writing a research proposal to send). I asked this question on January 7, 2024 at 8:40 PM in the city of Mexico City, MX. Ruler of ASC is 20 LEO. Now, I take my husband as the 7th house, as Saturn in Pisces. Right off the bat, I see he is not in a good state, he is peregine, however, I am optimistic as he is going to sextile Jupiter, which is located in the 9th house. My doubt is whether to take the 9th house ruler or radical 9th? If I take the 9th house ruler, we get Mars in the sign of Capricorn, in the 5th. Mars in Capricorn is in exaltation and in the dignity of Saturn. This is good news, right? Then Mars does apply sextile to Saturn by one degree, again good news. However, if we take the radical 9th, we get Venus, no applying aspect, rather a separating square . We can't say they have mutual reception because they are not in aspect. Moon will square Saturn, then conjunct Venus. I feel the moon conjunction Venus is more telling here, moon and Saturn seem very incompatible planets. Also, the conjunct between Moon and Venus perhaps there will be some contact. Though moon and Venus are both in the dignity of Jupiter and Jupiter is in the 9th, I can't help but think my husband really wants to study there. I also think that the fact ruler of the 7th is in the 7th, he will stay where he is, not moving anywhere, I find his position very telling. So, while there are positive aspects perhaps nothing will come out this situation? Perhaps it is a money situation, seeing that his radical 2nd house is in the sign of Jupiter , perhaps relocation and phd fees may be too expensive?
Thanks for looking at my chart and hope more experienced astrologers can guide me to the right direction.

Hello Moon4,

The MO will conjunct VE L9 in Sag of higher education and foreign countries and Almuten of SA. I would say yes, go for Birmingham. Both MO and VE Angular.
The midpoint ME/SA (of departure) = PL (move away, sorrow of parting, financial issues to consider)
SA applies to Apollon at 6 Sco 17 (exact on Jan 30th) and this combination talks about education and success through patience.

Good luck and let us know how it unfolds for you,
Ouranos
Blessings!

Thank you so much and sorry for replying so late. I saw your message and I felt very excited.
When I casted my chart I felt it was very positive but I feel that in horary just one negative aspect can spoil the chart.

I am not sure what Apollon is. I did look it up on a blog by the Uranian astrologer and it looks very fascinating. I will definitely learn more about midpoints.
You mentioned Jan 30th. Okay, well first he must contact professors then apparently the two talk about potential research, and then he may or not get accepted. I think it works different than in the US.
I will encourage my husband. I will update the forum.

Thankyou for you analysis.

I wanted to update the forum.
My husband received a decision from another university just this past week. He has until the end of the month to make his decision. However, my husband is very pleased with the phd offer as it is fully funded while the one I asked about (posted here) is not fully funded, so it looks like my husband will take that offer instead.
So this chart is very positive but nothing came out of it. The Phd acceptance is in Canada so wonder if foreign country here maybe means he will go to another country to do his phd? Just trying to work this out.

Hello Moon 4,

Just a quick update on the second offer your husband received.
The first offer is the 9th House, the second offer is the 9th from the 9th (radical 5th)
The radical 5th has the Sun in it, ruling your husband. Leo rising shows this offer is very important (Sun) to him.
And it trines Uranus just behind the 10th House.
Watch the transit of Jupiter mid-April when it reaches Uranus in trine to the Sun for a possible outcome and decision.

Best to you,
Ouranos
Blessings!

Hi Moon4

Did your husband finalize this university in Canada? Did you also hear from the other university in Birmingham about which you asked originally?

Yes the chart looked positive indeed. So can you please clarify for us what question you actually had in mind while making this horary? Did you really mean to ask if your husband will study in Birmingham or will the university in Birmingham accept his application? Or perhaps "will he study abroad?"

Thanks 🙂

Hello. I wish I had seen this message before. For some reason I did not get notifications.

To answer your question: my husband turned down the PhD position in Canada. He was accepted in March and turned it down officially in July. He did accept but after much consideration he declined the offer. My husband has not applied to the university in Birmingham because he is currently in talks with another university in Edinburgh. I think he really likes the program in Edinburgh.
I am glad the chart is positive because he is indeed looking to study abroad.

I don't think we have seen the end of this horary chart.
Next Wednesday my husband has an interview with this university at Birmingham. It is funny because he did for several months forgot about this uni and moved on but he recently sent a research proposal and the professor liked it and invited him for an interview. Maybe this university seems promising. We will see what happens.
I will update the forum.
Thank you for responding everybody.
