Hi everyone,

As I currently live in Israel, and publish a weekly horoscope column in Hebrew, I'm often faced with the following question:
Will there be an escalation in Israel's northern front?

Some background:
Israel's IDF is currently engaged in military activity both in the south, in Gaza, and in the north, against Hezbollah.
At the present moment, military action in Gaza is more active than in the northern front. This is the case as ground forces are involved in the south, but not in the north.

My question is as follows:
Are you familiar with any technique which ascertains direction of attack, escalation or military activity at a war which is ongoing?

- I've browsed through Dykes' translation of Theophilus, but wasn't able to find anything on this topic.
- Also thought of just using the angles as direction indicators and the signs, just like we do in horary astrology (MC-S, IC-N, AC-E, DC-W + proper meanings for zodiac signs as to directions). In something like new moon charts, ingress charts and such.

What do you think?

Why don't you just cast a horary chart for this question, using Eben Ezra's rules for reading war horaries?

The one on Theophilus will address your question on ascertaining direction in war charts.
Vasilios Takos translates from the original text and brings interpretations I have not seen elsewhere.
And Wade Caves as always brings an in-depth perspective interesting to watch.

The book is available online and you can use the word search to find any reference to war in the Book of interrogations.

If you fail to find it, I suggest you consult the renown Bulgarian Traditional Astrologer Lyuben Meshnikov (not sure I spelled his name correctly). If I recall well, he posted (on Facebook) several horary charts concerning wars with quotes from Ibn Ezra, a few years ago. He might even have an account on this forum.
