Linda Goodman (1925-1995) was America's first New Age celebrity. She was the author of the first book about astrology, Sun Signs, to make it onto the New York Times Best Sellers list in 1968, and her second book, Love Signs, set a record for the largest advance of $2.3 million. While Goodman was teaching the world how to search the skies for clarity, she was involved in her own mysterious pursuit. In 1973, Goodman's daughter Sally was found dead at the age of 21 on December 10, 1973. Police declared the death a suicide, but Goodman believed the body found on the scene was a double and that the CIA had kidnapped her daughter. For the next two decades, Goodman depleted her sizeable fortune, hiring investigators and traveling the country chasing down leads. She may have had a column in McCall's Magazine and Steve McQueen's number in her Rolodex, but she was lambasted by the press, who regularly depicted her search as the product of irrational denial. Despite her literary success, she was branded a madwoman.

Although Goodman never revealed her year of birth, swearing even her father to silence, it emerged posthumously that she was born in 1925. According to data collector Frank C. Clifford, Linda was born on April 9, 1925 in Morgantown, West Virginia at 6:05 a.m.

Ouranos

What a strange story Ouranos, I remember her books but don't recall the tale of her daughter. If the birth time is accurate the Neptune retro in the 5th partile trine the Sun exalted in Aries conjunct Venus in the 12th opposing her Moon is descriptive. Poor woman.

You mention that her SA ASC had come to radical Mars, Ouranos. I suppose that, in general, Mars being in a Mercury-ruled sign the 2nd speaks to her earnings through writing, astrology, and the honors she received via the NYT bestsellers list (Mars exalted ruler of 10). But Mars is extreme, and rules the 8th (anxieties, deaths) and the ASC (the native) here. Check out how Jupiter is in its fall and lies in contra-antiscia to Mars; perhaps the SA direction triggered the harsher side of Mars in the 2nd(with some fallen Jupiter flavor): her burning through her fortune on a misplaced campaign or exaggerated mission -- Jupiter rules the 9th (beliefs) and 12th (sorrows & self-deception). The 12th is also the derived 8th from the 5th.

Then there's the exalted Sun, which Jane mentions, - I'd add to what she already said: the Sun rules the 5th, is disposited by Mars, and is rising off the ASC into the 12th as it applies a square to Jupiter.

Man - Wow. That is a really sad story. I had no idea.
