A failed horary (with a solution) - What went wrong? 1 by Dima Gur Hi everyone, A querent has called me last Tuesday about a job interview she was about to have the next day. She asked "will I pass the job interview, and get the job"? 26.3.2024 17:32 Rishon Leziyon, Israel Some background: Querent is a practical engineer, and she's been working in her present company for about 2 years. Last November her department was dismantled and she was transferred into another department which she took some time to get used too. After everything seemed fine, she was suddenly fired on the 19.3.24. This came out of the blue after the company has cut the available positions for her new department. After some fuss in the company, she was asked whether she'd like to interview for another position in the apps department. She said yes. Also the interview was about to be in English, which my querent had confidence issues with. The interview was with the department head, who is a foreign national (from Mexico). I was also informed that two other male candidates were about to be interviewed for the job, along with the querent. Querent said that she had inside information, that she was the top candidate. Next follows the chart and my unsuccessful interpretation of it. If you'd like to skip my delineation, in order to approach the chart in a fresh way, that's okay. Here's the chart: My delineation: Querent is L1 Venus, the company is L10 Moon, the interviewer is Sun in the 7th, the rivals for the job are L7 Mars. 1.) We can see that the Moon is in H1 (the company wants the querent). 2.) L10 is in the domicile of L1 (company likes Querent), but will move on to the detriment of L1 (and the domicile of L7) in nine time units. I interpreted it as 9 days, after which one of the rivals may get the job. In retrospect nine time units seem like a long stretch, plus I can't be sure that the chart communicates 'days'. 3.) L1 and L10 don't complete an aspect, before L10 moves to the next sign. Also, prior to the completion, L10 completes an aspect to L7 (rivals for position, one of which may get the job). 4.) By antiscia L10 and L1 are separating. I thought it means that querent is about to leave the company (the company throwing her to the dogs, so to speak). But in retrospect, I realize that it may have meant that the interview may have been just a formality and that she was already accepted (antiscia is a conjunction - strongest of testimonies). 5.) The Sun, which represents the interviewer is in the detriment of L1 and in the domicile of L7, so I thought that the interviewer may dislike the querent and like one of the rivals. But maybe, the interview was just a formality, so it doesn't matter. 6.) L1's next aspect is to Uranus, which I interpreted as a failure in the interview, breaking up with the company. Damn outers, you never know if you can trust em (especially by sextile) 7.) Some auxiliary testimonies: question was asked under an eclipse which doesn't seem auspicious (fine, some time after the eclipse), part of vocation falls in the 4th of endings, part of success falls in Scorpio and the dispositor is Mars (rivals). And there are a few more things, but these are the big ones. By the way, I decided to go with the time of the question, rather than the time of the interview as you can see. I did so after going through several horary books, in which I saw that virtually everyone uses the question time rather than the event chart. What do you think about the interpretation? How would you approach the chart? Solution: querent was informed, today at the morning hours, that she has got the job. She's supposed to start tomorrow. Re: A failed horary (with a solution) - What went wrong? 2 by AquaStelLea Everything is easier in retrospect, of course. Here's how I would read this horary: Moon and Venus signify the querent. Moon also signifies the job and the course of affairs. Mercury signifies the interviewer. Considerations before judgmetnt: 1. The ascendant is too early, the question was either premature, probably because it came before the interview or some information was still missing. 2. Moon is in Via Combusta, so the result will be somewhat unexpected or maybe the querent is very worried. Anyway, it is not "safe to judge" this horary. No wonder it was difficult to read it. Judgement: 1. Moon L10 is in the 1st house, meaning the querent has the job "in her pocket". But she already knew that, right? 2. Moon applies to oppose Mercury in the 7th. This must be the interviewer. Mercury receives both Moon and Venus into its term., There is also mutual reception between Venus and Mercury, which is good for the querent. Mercury receives Mars (competition) into its detriment (too bad for them). Anyway, the fact that Moon is right on the degree of a recent solar eclipse (14th October 2023) and also with the Dragon's tail is not a good omen. She will get the job, but there's something not quite "fortunate" about it. Quote Sun Mar 31, 2024 5:47 pm
Re: A failed horary (with a solution) - What went wrong? 3 by Dima Gur AquaStelLea hi, About strictures/considerations: You're right about the via combusta. Asc is in the first 3 degrees. But about strictures in general, I work mostly using Frawley's methods, and Frawley usually disregards strictures. Also the via combusta and the early rising degree make sense in terms of the question asked. This is the case as the job proposition came suddenly and out of the blue (fresh / new), and the via combusta as querent was stressed that the interview is to be conducted in English. The rest of the chart also seems to make sense in terms of the situation querent was describing (example: being fired recently with Venus and Moon separating from cnj to malefic points). * A question to you: Do you usually discard charts in which considerations before judgement aren't met? About the judgement: 1. She was informed that this is the case, but still had trepidation before the interview. Hence, the horary. 2. Together with the interviewer (a male of foreign nationality, the department head) in the interview room, there was an HR person - a woman. She may be Mercury (my take, at least). According to logic, the department head (whom I took as the Sun) was the one making the decision whether to hire the querent. But then again it was kind of 'an inside job' so who knows... About the mutual reception. Even if Mercury is the interviewer, the reception is very weak (term and/or face only) and the aspect is an opposition (which can either deny or querent may regret it after). So at least according to the way I see things, that's not strong enough. I agree about the general bad omens, we'll have to see how this thing pans out. P.S. I've sent you a message via the skyscript forum system. If you could reply, that would be great. https://www.gurastro.com Quote Sun Mar 31, 2024 7:20 pm
Re: A failed horary (with a solution) - What went wrong? 4 by AquaStelLea Do you usually discard charts in which considerations before judgement aren't met? No, I see the "considerations" as things to consider like "extra information" or "warnings" not as "restrictions" Even if Mercury is the interviewer, the reception is very weak (term and/or face only) and the aspect is an opposition (which can either deny or querent may regret it after) Maybe Mercury is the interview rather than the interviewer, and the opposition just meant it was a difficult one (foreign language?) as Venus receives Mercury into her detriment. Anyway, the final "positive" outcome was due to the fact that Moon L10 is in the 1st house, so the aspects don't really matter here, as she already had the job in her pocket. In many "will I get the job?" horaries , L10 being in the 1st will mean "the querent gets the job", while L10 in the 7th means "the competition gets the job". Sometimes placements, rather than applying aspects, are enough for a positive/negative outcome. Quote Sun Mar 31, 2024 8:02 pm
Re: A failed horary (with a solution) - What went wrong? 5 by Dima Gur Okay, fair game. I'm here to hear different opinions. In my original post above I've raised a few more possibilities as to the eventual outcome of the case, but that may be besides the point. Again, if you could reply to the private message, that would be great. https://www.gurastro.com Quote Sun Mar 31, 2024 8:05 pm
Re: A failed horary (with a solution) - What went wrong? 6 by Ouranos Hello Dima Gur, Suggestion to horary practitioners: Always read the chart after the event! Much easier! Just a few comments * Moon (co-ruler and L10) in the 1st - The job comes to her without much effort. * Venus L1 Exalted in Pisces sextile Jupiter/Uranus in the 8th - Follow the money. * Mars L7 (interviewer) trine the cusp of the 10th. This last point is where I might disagree with your analysis when you assigned the 7th to the other candidates. Why? Did she asked about the other candidates? The question is about her career and the position she is being offered. As she said '"will I pass the job interview, and get the job". Don't worry about the others, concentrate on her, unless she ask. For sure, if she doesn't get the job, someone else will. * Moon last opposition Mercury L9 (intercepted) and L12 in 7th (I highly recommend her not to travel abroad. Stay home). On a final note, strictures against judgment do not give the final answer, they describe the emotional state of the person. In this case, the Moon in Via Combusta says she is not confident about getting the job. Thank you for sharing Dima! Always a pleasure. Best well. Ouranos Blessings! Quote Sun Mar 31, 2024 8:47 pm
Re: A failed horary (with a solution) - What went wrong 7 by janegca Hi Dima…. My 2 cents, I’m not much practiced in horaries anymore. I looked first at Venus as significator of the querent. She’s in the 6th of work, exalted (she was a favourite). Venus is separating from Saturn (she’d recently lost work) and was trine the 10th so looks like the job is attainable. Next checked the Moon as co-significator, she rules the 10th and is in the 1st, so the job looks as though it will fall in her lap but the Moon is with the South node, not good; is separating from Venus and cannot see her (inconjuct 6th). I took this to be a clear “no” and didn’t look any further. Why? Okay, so querent mentioned during the phone conversation that two other candidates were interviewing for the job together with her. As the chart is supposed to show the entire situation (in theory at least), and J. Frawley uses L7 as possible rival candidates (who were males btw - Mars), I thought it made sense. And then I assigned the Sun as the interviewer (a planet near cusp of 7th, dignified, may show authority). Also L1 was entering the Sun's rays and she mentioned her trepidation of the interviewer, as he is an English speaker. Maybe you're right though, and I emphasize things which are of less consequence. Thanks for replying Ouranos Your insights are always welcomed. janegca janegca wrote:I’m not much practiced in horaries anymore. Re: A failed horary (with a solution) - What went wrong? 9 by Ouranos Okay, so querent mentioned during the phone conversation that two other candidates were interviewing for the job together with her. As the chart is supposed to show the entire situation (in theory at least), and J. Frawley uses L7 as possible rival candidates (who were males btw - Mars), I thought it made sense. I understand why and how you made use of the 7th for the other candidates. And it would make sense in a question when there is a choice, like who wins me or my opponent. Otherwise, the 7th is the interviewer. At least, that is my approach not to create a combo with the other candidates and the interviewer in the same house if it is not a choice question. The best horary answer is binary. Yes or No. Please send your check $$$ to... As astrologers, we can get lost easily if we try to answer too many related questions like what did the querent had for lunch before asking the question. I like to remind myself when trying to answer the question "Did he/she ask about it?" If no, I come back to the question as formulated. And when questioning the querent, our role is to corner him to understand all the components... until you ask the most pressing one - So, what is your question? In a quizz game, that would be the final answer and you work from there. Notice here that one of he most difficult question to answer is 'Does he love me?' Yes or No but how much does he love me? A dilemma that can get you running in circle. Best to you, Ouranos Blessings! Quote Tue Apr 02, 2024 12:38 am

Re: A failed horary (with a solution) - What went wrong? 11 by Serene Hello and thanks for the chart. I follow Frawley mostly so Moon , the job's Sig falling in H1 as others also pointed out is a strong testimony when combined with the positive reception of Venus , the querent by Mars, the interviewer (Mars in exaltation of Venus). Yes the separation by antiscia though large in orb could also mean that the decision was already made internally before the interview. Best to all Quote Tue Apr 09, 2024 5:06 pm
