UK General Election Call Chart 1 by Mark As the polls closed on Thursday July 4th in the United Kingdom I posted the chart for the time Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called a General Election. I have decided to share that analysis here as Skyscript is a better place to save astrology worth preserving for future study. I remember the late Australian astrologer Ed Tamplin writing about the usefulness of election call charts. He advocated both using election call and opening of poll charts. While I did post a short FB post back in May predicting the overwhelming victory of the Labour party using the opening of poll chart I actually think the election call chart is particularly instructive. My analysis was hardly exhaustive but I think the chart is very clear on the eventual outcome. I am therefore sharing the election call chart and my comments on Facebook here. For countries where the election date is not fixed like the United Kingdom and Australia this seems a worthwhile technique to use for future elections. Especially, considering the fact that with the increasing prevalence of postal voting the election day is arguably no longer necessarily the beginning of the political contest. So with the UK polls just closing in the UK I thought I would take look at the chart for the the announcement of The General Election. I should state I don’t hope to impress anyone with my powers of astrological prognostication. Unless the polls are about to make a gigantic historic error the possibility of a Labour party majority and indeed landslide victory now seems highly likely. I did put out a short piece predicting a significant Labour victory well over a month ago based on the opening of poll chart But I cant really claim any kudos for that. My interest here is rather examine the astrological weather around this election campaign. After 14 years in power the so called ‘’writing on the wall’’ has been self evident for the Conservative party for a long time. The Conservatives have been consistently 20% or more behind the Labour party since the time of the Covid partygate scandals and this was exacerbated by the disastrous short lived Premiership of Liz Truss whose policies effectively crashed the UK economy in a matter of days in office. In his 18 months in power Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has consistently failed to reverse the significant loss in Conservative party support. Generally, you expect to see a narrowing of the gap between the parties during a General election campaign but that has not happened in this election. In fact Sunak has arguably run one of the most ill fated General Election campaigns in British Electoral history. From the announcement of the General Election on May 22nd (5pm BST, London) in a downfall of rain Sunak’s campaign has seen one mishap after another. Particular highlights have included the controversy over his early departure from the Normandy Landing commemoration to a more recent scandal over Conservative party members (including MPs) involved in a betting on the date of the election. As if the Conservatives did not face a bit enough threat from the Labour party and Liberal Democrats the entry of Nigel Farage into the contest and his assumption of the leadership of the newly formed Reform party has opened up a split on the right of centre of vote which is seriously depleting the Conservatives chances of holding on to numerous seats. Its being widely predicted the Conservatives are facing their worst election in terms of seats in Westminster since records began. So does the astrology mirror this? First of all we find cardinal angles in the chart with the MC about to imminently change sign. Cardinal signs tend to indicate rapid change and fast movement. The MC representing the government is in Cancer ruled by a debilitated Moon in fall in Scorpio. The Moon is applying to an opposition with Uranus which illustrates the numerous shocks the Conservatives have faced in this election. Since Sunak initiated this election he can also be seen as represented by the ASC in Libra and its ruler Venus. Superficially, Venus looks strong in terms of essential dignity falling in its domicile of Taurus and conjunct Jupiter However, its power to act is weak here by accidental dignity and it falls in the unfortunate 8th house. One might literally see this symbolizing the demise of Sunak’s government. The political opposition represented by Aries and ruled by Mars is very strong here.. Not only is Mars in its sign of domicile rulership it is also strong by being angular and conjunct the NN. The DESC degree is on the exaltation degree of the Sun. Looking at the Moon as the general significator for the public we see Mars dispositing it. However, the Moon in fall in Scorpio arguably also reflects the public mood in the UK. There doesn’t seem to be much optimism or enthusiasm around this election with a lot of voter apathy and disaffection for all the parties. This represents quite a contrast to the general buoyant mood before other previous historic Labour landslides such as 1945 or 1997.
