I am aware that astrologers like Morin used Lunar Return charts extensively. However, I was wondering historically how old this technique is? Does anyone know what the earliest sources for this technique are?

I don't know the answer to this, but I would be very interested to learn it, if anyone knows. My hunch (which could be wrong) is that it seems likely to have originated in the early modern period, when influential astrological authors were turning away from 'artificial' procedures like profections (including monthly profections) and towards predictive methods more founded in observable natural phenomena.
