Vedic astrologer Joni Patry has not always been correct in her predictions, but she was in the minority group of astrologers who predicted a Trump win for this election. Except for Indian dashas (planetary timing periods) her methods involved only simple transits, easily understandable for both sidereal and tropical astrologers. Indian astrology doesn't use all the complex systems of progressions that have developed in the west. Here are her partial comments posted today, November 7:

I based this win on the transiting planets, particularly the transits of Jupiter and Venus.

In Vedic Astrology, we also use the planetary cycles called the dashas. A Dasha is a planetary period in Vedic Astrology that influences every aspect of life and different factors determine the quality of a Dasha.

Put simply, the stars were perfectly aligned for Trump to win. This was truly one of the most powerful planetary aspects that I've seen indicating a win. Through my research, here's what I discovered:

Donald Trump is in the dasha of Jupiter and Venus therefore the transits of these two planets take precedence over all the other planets.

The transit of Jupiter Is always important because Jupiter is the planet of expansion, opportunities and luck. At the time of the election Transiting Jupiter was in his 10th house of career, purpose, and elevation of social standing.

Transiting Jupiter was conjunct his natal Rahu [Moon's north node], Sun and opposed his natal Moon.

Transiting Jupiter is aspecting his natal Jupiter (trine) in his 2nd house and it rules his 5th house of Poova Punya (past life good karma).

Then transiting Venus was exactly on his natal Moon on election day and aspecting his natal Sun in the 10th house the day after election day indicating great joy and happiness.

Remember, he is in Jupiter and Venus dasha and both transiting Jupiter and Venus are opposed each other -Venus on his natal Moon opposed his natal Sun.

Lastly Trump's natal Jupiter sits at 24 degrees Virgo which is exactly the degree of the natal Saturn in the USA chart in the 10th house. This connects Trump with the government of the U.S. as the 10th house in mundane astrology rules the government. This is important because the aspect of transiting Jupiter aspects natal Saturn in the USA chart as well as natal Jupiter in Trump's chart.

it is worthwhile to consider and reexamine the approaches of others... ken bowser also predicted a trump win and although i do believe he uses some western type techniques, he still offers some insights such as mundane aspects, that are not common among astrologers..

lets see what comes out in the next 74 or how many days before the inauguration....

One advantage of my lists is that I can verify astrologer's predictive track record. Joni Patry predicted a Clinton win in 2016 and a Trump win in 2020. If she had got this election wrong she would have been a three time loser!

Edith Hathaway did the same in 2016 and 2020.

Both have been been accused of being pro-Trump and in the case of Edith Hathaway she is very upfront about this making her desire for a Trump win very explicit in her astrological delineation.

Overall, this election was a very poor outing for Vedic astrology. To the extent it brings into question the validity of using natal techniques like Vimshottari dashas at all to predict a major mundane event with global ramifications like a Presidential election.

Very interesting, Mark!! I think overall so-called Vedic astrologers have a poor understanding of the American political situation and public pulse of the people. In that respect Ken Bowser gets the gold star for prediction as he uses a sidereal zodiac with western techniques, and is fully tuned in to political subtleties in the United States.

As for Edith Hathaway, in your list you have commented on her (to me very strange) political opinions which I had never heard of before. Watching one of her videos, Joni Patry seems to think that Trump is the savior who in the future will expose all kinds of corruption to give the U.S. a clean slate. She has gone off on her own away from the Vedic contingent and formed her own "University of Vedic Astrology." I think she identifies with Trump's (sidereal) Leo where her own Jupiter, Moon and Pluto are located. Yes, even her hair is very Leonian.

that list of yours is very handy!! it sort of reminds me of the studies the french couple did with their work - collecting data and realizing that there were certain patterns that did or didn't make sense with the astrological theories or jargon on a number of issues, but primarily house systems and placement of key planets in key sectors... well, obviously it is no where near as elaborate, but still it is cool you've done this work and collected a body of information which lends itself to the types of conclusions you are making here... thanks for sharing it!

Predicting the USA Elections with Triplicities

In the course on Mundane Astrology by Lee Lehman at Kepler College, she mentioned that predicting the results of elections is something that does not yield consistent results. Due to the limited amount of data available, statistical clarity on its efficacy is still inconclusive. Still, it is beneficial for astrologers to hone their craft.
Among the purposes of astrology is its ability to predict, and astrologers should predict, if only to deepen their understanding of the concepts that they believe in.
It is for this reason that using Traditional, or the older system of astrology, can be helpful in this endeavor. However, even modern practitioners of this system have not achieved consistent results.
For a complex system like astrology, we can say that it is in the doing that we learn—it's a challenge for every practitioner to try their hand at such a task as predicting an election, especially that of the USA.
As a Filipino astrologer in Asia, gathering birth data with documented times of birth is not the norm. I have attempted to predict elections three times, using different methods, but I have only been correct once out of three. Bias and lack of data may have been my Achilles' heel. It is for these reasons that I am experimenting with the Aries Ingress chart in this exercise.
Lehman challenges her students to think differently. She points out that Arabic astrologers used the Aries Ingress chart to describe the accession of the "King," but the chart can also describe the circumstances that preceded it.
This way of looking at the ingress chart becomes very useful in political scenarios in the USA prior to the November 2024 Presidential elections. How can we see both President Biden backing off from the race and the beginning of the reign of the new "king," which is roughly equivalent to the new president's term?
I propose that we use the triplicity rulers to divide the time period that an Aries Ingress chart is in effect. This technique, shared by Sharon Knight, was used in natal charts. Twelve can be divided into four months, each period ruled by one of the triplicity rulers. The sequence varies depending on whether it is a day or night chart.
Let's try this technique with ingress charts.
The Aries Ingress chart computed for Washington yields a Scorpio ascendant.
It is a fixed sign; hence it is usable within 12 months.
According to Knight:
"When looking at mundane charts, generally the rising sign and its ruler stand for the people, the indicator of the 10th sign and MC is the current king, and the 4th sign or IC is the opposition party."
For this purpose, we can look at the 10th house and its triplicity rulers to see the state of the incumbent president and his party, the Democrats. The 10th house is Leo, a fire sign. It is worthwhile noting that there was a certain fall from power when President Biden backed out of the race. The shift in the triplicity rulers might have indicated such a change.
The Aries 2024 Ingress is a night-time chart. The triplicity rulers of Fire are the following:
Jupiter, Sun & Saturn
Using the whole sign house system, we can see a shift in the triplicity rulers. The first third of the solar year is ruled by angular Jupiter, it was well and good, in the 7th house. There was a focus on the country’s trading partners and even enemies. But then, the shift came, in the second third of the solar year, it was Sun’s turn to be the ruler. Though dignified in the Aries, it became cadent in the 6th house, there is still the prestige, but the Sun weakened here, Biden’s inability to function well because of his health (and age) became an issue. Using derivative houses, this Sun falls on 9th of the 10th. This again is a cadent house, limiting his ability to function as the leader. The last third of the year is ruled by Saturn, this falls on the 8th from the 10th, a symbolic death or loss of power to forge on took place.
The contender in the presidential race is the Republican, Donald Trump. He is represented by the 4th house and its rulers.
The triplicity rulers of the Air in a night chart are the following:
Mercury, Saturn, & Jupiter
Using the whole sign house system, we can see the reverse of the pattern. Mercury, its first triplicity ruler, is weak to begin with, being in the 6th house of the chart. But Mercury 17 degrees away from the Sun, makes it more noticeable. In the second third of the solar year, we see Saturn, having more energy, support and freedom at its disposal. Saturn itself is the ruler of the 4th house, representing the opposition party. Saturn is configured in a beautiful trine with Venus, the Ascendant and the Lot of Fortune. Though Saturn is the malefic out of sect, it is empowered by dignified Venus, which is the functional benefic at nighttime. The last third, wherein the inauguration takes place, will put Jupiter at an angle. Jupiter has a mutual reception with Venus. Aside from being the benefic of the sect, Venus is one of the triplicity rulers of the ascendant during election time. The ascendant rules the voters.
Using the triplicity rulers seems to be a good way of dividing the election year into time periods wherein we can see how political trends go. Based on the analysis above, it seems that the Aries Ingress chart favors the opposition party, the Republicans and it supports the main theme of the Aries Ingress chart itself.
With Ascendant rising, the people are represented by Mars. Mars in the 4th house, can indicate that people are siding with the opposition party. Seeing the close opposition between Mars and the MC, the people were not happy with how Biden led the country. The same can be said of the incoming regime but that is another story to unfold.

I do need to be clear that to appear on my list a prediction must be made by the astrologer in person in public on Facebook, in an astrology forum, article, public presentation, blog or You Tube video. And obviously the prediction needs to be issued before the polls opened in the USA.
