Which derived house would rule a godson ? 1 by Zosma Would this be the fifth house or the fifth from the ninth, The fifth from the ninth falls in the first house ruled by Virgo in my nativity & it was during a stationary mercury over my IC which has a cosmic cross overlayed on the angles , that our paths crossed again as he helped me in the process of moving home . During which he found a crucifix & asked if I need it, which made me reflect on the Cosmic Grand Cross (maybe it was Alan Oaken that named it a cosmic cross) Mercury in the nativity is in Pisces combust the Sun & part of the grand cross formation . The symbolism of Godson finding a lost cross of the Son of God as Mercury crosses the IC natal cross formation dwelt with me, Or maybe I am as lost as my Ascendant ruler & another house rules the Godson? Re: Which derived house would rule a godson ? 2 by Ouranos Normally, a grandson or grandaughter is the child (5th) from your son or daughter (5th). So the 9th House. But maybe I am mixing up the terminology here. What is your relationship with the parent of this child? Once you establish your relationship, the 5th from that house. Interesting story zosma! Re: Which derived house would rule a godson ? 3 by Zosma Hi Ouranos A little fallen Mercury in Pisces confusion, A God son is like I am the God father, this is Catholic tradition I was the spiritual father at his baptism an according to that tradition had a responsibility towards his spiritual growth in that tradition, hence his finding a crucifix & asking if I need it had a jolting of my moral responsibility towards him, Mercury stationed in Sagittarius the sign of distant relatives & father. Indeed my progressed Sun is in the ninth house exactly over Hades, my father passed away so the theme of fathering is being churned in my unconscious & it is interesting that today is the winter solstice so the Sun is being reborn at this time. The godson is my brothers son that would place him in my seventh house where mercury is less than 5 degrees from the cusp. Quote Sat Dec 21, 2024 11:17 pm

Re: Which derived house would rule a godson ? 5 by pjef I also have this question. In the Roman Catholic tradition, a Godson is a male infant that a man (as Godfather) and a woman (as Godmother) stand by with a priest, with the child, and the child's parents, in the sacramental ritual of baptism. I was told this by my mother: If anything happens to the parents, the Godparents have taken the responsility to see to the child's upbringing and welfare. If the parents are able to fulfill their duty, the Godparents' duty is to make sure that the child is raised in the Roman Catholic church, receiving the sacraments, living a Christian life, etc., i.e., seeing to the SPIRITUAL welfare of the child until it's grown. The relationship to the birth parents does not factor in, really. My Godmother was my Mother's maid of honor at her wedding, and my Godfather was my Mother's brother, who had known my Father and introduced him to my Mother. (Originally it would have been my Father's best man at the wedding, but he was out of the country on a fishing trip.) I am a Godmother to a young man whose mother was a single Mother that I helped out after the baby was born. We were friends. I think that the spiritual component is what's important, and the fact that you are a substitute for the parent, either physically or spiritually or both, for that child, as pledged during the sacramental rite of baptism. I have usually wanted the ninth house to enter into this designation somehow. Perhaps the 5th from the 9th?? WIth a Godmother being the 10th from the 9th, and Godfather, the 4th from the 9th? Thoughts ???? Quote Thu Jan 02, 2025 8:01 pm
Re: Which derived house would rule a godson ? 6 by Zosma hi pjef You explained the Godson catholic concept so well filling in the gaps to my knowledge it was all in the past but yes I remember it well now. I am thinking myself as Catholic but not Roman Catholic. Covid taught me to not trust any authority but look to my heart for guidance if I was Roman Catholic I could not study astrology. So yes I thought 5th from the 9th too as that would point to mercury in my chart & stationing mercury over my cross in the 4th gave the Godson incident with the cross. I think Frawley wrote about the fire triplicity houses being Father Son & holy spirit /so the first house is the holy Spirit this is when we breath our first breath & gain life So God breathed life into us , The 5th is the son & the 9th is God the father, there is also a concept that the planets are angelic forces intiatiting the will of the Creatori.e the three wise men being led by stars to the nativity,so I assume that Mercury as the planet representing the holy spirit in my chart was at least reminding me to pray for him as his parents have lost their faith & he too is a lost soul(mymercury combusted in Pisces on the cross) Quote Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:27 pm
