I can speak of myself as I have an exact Mercury /Neptune trine, with Mercury my Ascendant ruler in Pisces on the desc & Neptune in the third
in Scorpio.
Probably early life love of music / studyied playing guitar & piano , on reflection I should have been more serious with it, because lucky breaks would open up in these directions as is the nature of the trine.
One sibling is also musical. Imagination very strong & otherworldly connections in day to day life. Strong intuition drawn to occult /Astrology
In my system of Astrology I use Neptune as co ruler of Pisces & Sagittarius
Which rule my 7th & 4th houses. So I have a soul twin as a partner & trust 100% her ability to connect to spiritual realms & give practical answers in day to day problems. i.e her ability find lost items is uncanny.
Neptune in the third short journeys to the sea played an important role in my life. The connection to daily meditation & prayer which was initiated when Neptune conjoined my Mercury by transit.
Neptune rules the fourth house & it was towards the later stages of my life that I found out who my true father was & the deception of it all. but was thankful as is the case of the trine to be adopted with love.
Neptune tends to idealize , My step son completed his ideal house build when Neptune conjoined his fourth house ruler of Mercury in Pisces.

thanks for your ideas. I think that not every example that you wrote about is neptune mercury. When neptune in transit was on my natale mercury I got more money from my boss. Salary increase.

obviously you can't successfully do this cookie cutter astrology and get much of anywhere, but at the risk of trying, i will comment..

when i read your post yesterday i immediately thought of a friend i have who i see frequently.. i have a day chart for him - but no specific birth time.. he is born late january 1952 - january 27th to be specific.... i hadn't really looked at his chart and when i did, realized that he has a close mercury-neptune contact.. he was the first person i thought of who would be likely to have this aspect, but this was before i knew this - an intuition on my part i suppose..

so, why did i think of him and why does he happen to have a close square between these 2 planets and what for the life of me does it mean?? mercury is one side of the mind, with the moon being the other side.. i don't think you can look at them separately without missing something without consideration of the other... he seems swayed easily into any utopian or idealistic viewpoint or angle, especially one that will further his music career... he doesn't dig below the surface and is content to stay on the surface... he sucks up the msm like a vacuum cleaner, but thinks he has arrived at his observations and conclusions with much independent thought of his own, lol.... well - he is not the only one!!

he's a good songwriter and lyricist, and perhaps some of this comes out of the mercury-neptune square..

he generally seems like he is going in at least 15 different directions all at once... he is a likable, social guy... he is not a good judge of character - his own or others... his idealism towards others seems based on collective stereotypes...if you fit the collective stereotype of what is acceptable - you pass!!

The year of my Neptune transit over Mercury, I was promoted and ran my first half marathon. Both suit Mercury, music and art don't. This is evident in other constellations. My opinion.

another thought i had on this square in his chart - flaky and fickle.... good mass psychology promotional ideas though... something about lacking a strong saturn in the mental sphere contribute to this.... in fact, i would say a lack of clarity defines any mercury-neptune contacts, but especially the hard aspects... thus confusion in terms of communication are much more likely..

with the term "my astrological school" I mean the astrological school that I original learned astrology. But I do not want to discuss astrological schools here but the "spirit" of neptune mercure.

I think a lot of astrologers interpret each aspect as though it is very evident in their character a lot of planets and their aspect describe things around them
Example my progressed moon accurate describes things happening to my step son as the moon rules my 11 th house so 5th from seventh . So my mercury trine Neptune describes my brother especially as Neptune is in third
He lives over the waters in USA & has been very successful

What would it mean if a person had a square from Neptune to Mercury and an Aszendent in a mutable sign, i.e. Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces? Because then the rulers of house 1 and house 7 would be square to each other.
