Will R. win the boxing match? 1 by renkaex Hi I'm a beginner and I apologize for asking a simple question to most of you, but I'm split on an answer to this horary question. I'd like to ask if my friend will win the boxing match. Can anyone help me guide through it? My friend is represented by Mercury Rx in 10th house approaching Venus and North Node. His opponent is Jupiter being in 12th approaching the cusp of the 1st house. Taking a first look at the chart I thought that having Mercury in 10th, conjunct Venus Rx and having Jupiter in his sign and close to the cusp will be a win for my friend. However, Mercury Rx will never reach retrograde Venus because it will go direct before making an exact contact. Mercury is in its fall in Pisces, and Jupiter is in detriment in Gemini. Moon applies to a sextile to Sun. Jupiter (the opponent) is on the cusp of the 1st ruled by Mercury but it's NOT in the 1st house. John Frawley in his Horary textbook says: "A significator on the cusp of, rather than inside, the enemy's house, however, is in an exceptionally powerful position. Planet in a house is controlled by that house; planet on a house controls that house". Could you help me sort it out? Re: Will R. win the boxing match? 2 by Georgius Who asked this question? Is this friend a boy-friend in terms of a lasting partnership like a husband or just a friend as the 11th house shows? Is the question: „Will we win?“ Quote Wed Apr 02, 2025 8:10 pm

Re: Will R. win the boxing match? 5 by Tanit3333 Jupiter (the opponent) is on the cusp of the 1st ruled by Mercury I can't speak for Frawley, since I don't use his modern methods, but a planet more than 5 degrees from a cusp is not in that house, according to most traditional astrologers. They are 9 arc secs from a 5 degree orb. Therefore, they are in the 12th house. I doubt even Frawley would say a planet more than 5 degrees away from a cusp is conjunct that cusp. Mercury is in its fall in Pisces Mercury is peregrine, in fall, in detriment and retro. I find the chart confusing because you state he asked but the Moon applies to Sun in the 11th house of friendship, exalted. This would favor a friend. It can also point to wishes fulfilled. Sun in Aries is an extremely successful planet in the right house. Sun prohibits the Moon from aspecting Jupiter. PoF is also favoring the Sun. I suspect this is what Georgius was also picking up on. Mercury is severely debilitated and I don't trust charts where the querent is retrograde (unless there is good reason to explain it). Quote Thu Apr 03, 2025 2:14 am

But Jupiter is on the cusp! The cusp is within its orb. According to Frawley this is a point for the winning of the opponent because Jupiter is the significator of the combatant. He controls the house of the friend, a very strong testimony! Saturn is located in the 10th, the house of the winning of the querent. Saturn is peregrine so it weakens this house. Another point for the opponent. Mercury is under sunbeams. A small affliction, not worth another point of demerit. But its retrograde too: not that good. About three points for the opponent. Mecury, your friend, is in the 10th his winning house. A point for him. The NN is there: another point. An exalted Venus is conjunct: a third point for him. Mars in Cancer has triplicity dignity. It trines Mercury: a fourth point for him. Your friend has a little bit more testimonies for winning perhaps but I don’t think that it is clear enough. Maybe it will be a tight win. But I suppose that it will be a draw if this is possible in this sport. I do not know if it is clever to tell him. Maybe it weakens him further. Quote Thu Apr 03, 2025 8:34 am

It's unclear, confusing (to me at least), it seems like the match can go both ways. I think that the querent (my friend) is in a position where he is weakened, has no opportunities, he is on a verge of his limits. And his opponent (not super strong himself, but stronger than the querent) has him in the corner. That's how I see the chart. But - I think there is a possibility of maybe mere luck or a point where he can win. Not sure if there can be a draw in this sport. Thank you for your analysis, it helped me a lot! This is all so fascinating! Quote Thu Apr 03, 2025 7:14 pm

Re: Will R. win the boxing match? 10 by Tanit3333 That’s true even for Frawley. But Jupiter is on the cusp! A planet would have to be 16 degrees 23 arc seconds Gemini to 26 degrees 23 arc seconds Gemini to be on the cusp. Jupiter is 16 degrees 14 arc seconds, which is 9 arc seconds from being on the ascendant. When you go outside of the 5 degree orb, which is already fairly generous, things get ambiguous at best. I would call Jupiter in the 12th. Quote Thu Apr 03, 2025 8:44 pm
Re: Will R. win the boxing match? 11 by Georgius As far as I know Bonatti used 7° for angular houses. At least Solar Fire has this default configuration in the almuten editor. Anyway. There are traditional astrologers who use not 5° as a rule but 1/6 of the degrees of the house. This 12th house spans over 34°51', so 1/6 is approximately 5°49'. I said Jupiter is on the cusp and not in the house. But I agree that this is not very solid as the whole chart is not. Interestingly Jupiter is also lord of the hour. Maybe this question if Jupiter is on the AC or not is crucial for the delineation. Without him the testimonies for the win of the friend predominate more clearly. Renkaex, please tell us of the outcome again! Quote Fri Apr 04, 2025 7:08 am
