The querent asked if he should give up his business and get a job, which houses should I look into?

This question covers two areas. To choose between his business as a self employed and being a salary worker. The querent wants to know which choice is the best for him, in order to do that, I should look into the strength of these two choices but how should I assigned the 10th house?
I found an example that uses 10th house for the business and 6th house for the job. Is this right?

"Either/Or" questions, or "should I" are notoriously difficult to sort out. It is far better to look at one part and seek to clarify that.

In this instance, as the querent is self-employed, he is really asking about his current job. This would imply he has doubts - either about the viability of the business or his enjoyment of it.

I would be looking at his relationship with the business. In orther words, are the significators (L1 and Moon for him and L10 for the business) dignified and applying? Are the significators about to change sign, triplicity or term? Are they moving into fall, detriment, exhaltation? Or out of them?

When you've found out how strong the querent and the business are, you can look at how they relate to each other. If business is strong and querent isn't or is about to move into significant debility, it may indicate the querent really doesn't like being self-employed and needs to re-think what he wants.

The benefit in this question is not so much a "stay or go" outcome - but identifying the real issues and providing the querent with information with which to make choices.

And no, if you've already set a chart you don't need another one.

I could be wrong and hopefully others will give an opinion, however I tend to think trying to find this sort of comparison in a chart leads to scrambled brains for the novice horary astrologer (which I still am).

Look at it this way: If the querent has good prospects in his current career and finds it satisfying while providing a good income - why would he want to change??? If the current career is none or only some of these things and the querent unsettled - then there is good reason to consider other alternatives, however they don't necessarily have to be considered until and unless the querent has the desire and motivation to change his current situation. He may be asking out of simple boredom, in which case the chart is likely to be muddy anyway.

In other words giving consideration to the thought that "I want to move - not because the grass may be greener on the other side of the fence - but because it's yellow on my side".

It's about trying to encourage the querent to make a informed decision based on what can be seen in the chart about their current situation. This can include a desire to change, recognised or not.

A "should I" question is rarely the real question, perhaps you need to talk with the querent a bit more?

I've really just tried to give you another option for reading the chart since his income is going to come from his occupation whether he is self-employed or salaried.
