Hi,

I'm not sure what exactly you're asking here. My own understanding is that planets and signs rule specific body parts. Right/left side is just too general to be ruled by any one planet or sign.

However, I do have some helpful info for you! Masculine signs (fire/air) show the right side of the body, and feminine signs the left (water/earth). This is after you've worked out the body part.

E.g. to work out birthmark from Asc ruler

12 Aquarius rises

Saturn rules Aquarius

Saturn at 09 Sagittarius in the 10th house

Sagittarius rules the thighs

09 degrees is about a third down the thigh (30 degrees in a sign)

10th house is above the horizon so the mark is on the front or visible side of the body part

Ruler of Sagittarius is Jupiter

Jupiter is in Pisces

--> the left thigh, on the front, or easily visible, a third of the way down.

Hope this helps

Keren

Wow, Kerenhappuch, you're good. I can see daddy Job gave you a very nice inheritance. Ok. Mars rules the face but in my case, Sun rules asc. So do I look to Mars and his partner or to Sun and his partner?

That's where my specific interest is right now. My left cheek has been getting hollow during the last year. Only my left cheek which may be connected to an arm injury 2 years ago. The only time my cheeks have looked hollow in my life is when I am on the thin side which I am not. I have at least 10 excess pounds right now. I have something going on my my ulnar and median nerves so perhaps this is connected.

I am female so I need to determine which planet rules the left cheek. Would I then determine Mars' natural partner which would be Venus for the other side? Or do I work from the ascendant?

If asc., then Sun rules Leo. Sun 11Virgo (1/3 in) in 2nd. Virgo rules intestines so 1/3 down? Below the horizon would be back or hidden from view. Mercury (ruler) is at 23 Virgo, same house, 3/4 into the small intestine. Sunken cheeks are a sign of starvation or poor assimilation, definately bringing Mercury.

Now you said left side for the location of the birthmark. Is that because of Pisces being on the eastern side of the chart? I would have thought that would be right side of the chart.

If I look at Sun being in house of neck, that might make sense, especially if connected to the arm problems. The nerves connect to the spinal chord at the neck, I believe. Mercury rules the nerves in general. I have a small spur on the 5th cervical (for several years) which is about the same distance down the neck as Mercury is into Virgo. Sun rules spine also.

If I look to Sun's partner for the opposite cheek, then in my case, being a female. Sun would rule my left cheek, Moon my right. I don't look very sunny lately.

Thank you so much for putting me on to this line of thought. Much to thinkj about. Any corrections to my path?

PS: how did you happen to pick your moniker? The name's meaning along with the story fasinates me.

Your post was a little too technical for me I'm afraid! You're not a Virgo by any chance?! Oh wait... I see that you are :)

So, what is your actual question here? Are you asking how to spot the culprit planet in your chart which shows your cheeks looking thin? Or are you just intrigued and trying to work out why it would be one side and not the other? Generally trying to find the imagery in the chart?

Generally, a strong Mercurial influence tends to give slimness tending to boniness.

Generally speaking, a problem would be caused by an afflicted planet - without the chart to look at I can't say what afflictions are present. For example, this Sun in Virgo - does it make any aspects? And is Mercury direct or retrograde? Don't forget a very strong planet (ie plenty of essential dignity) can be just as harmful as a weak one - usually causing an excess of something.

I'm no medical astrologer. I believe there's a lady in Scotland who specialises in that field - Jane Ridder-Patrick. I think she does courses too. I can't vouch for her though as I've never had a consultation from her. Maybe you could Google her and see if she's got a book you might find useful.

As to my name, I was named Keren by my (ex)Jewish father. I use the full version for my astrology/tarot work. I tried to come up with a more ethereal-sounding pseudonym but nothing felt right. Keren I am and Keren I will stay!

You have a beautiful name. Keren is a vessel, a horn or perhaps rays shooting out. Keren-happuch is a horn of cosmetic or rays of color eminating forth, like the aura perhaps.

Thanks for your reply. I checked out your site, nice. Sorry my post was hard to understand. I don't know how to work out the details in order to synthesis it all, any other way. I'd like to learn how to track down problems in the chart to find their underlying mental, emotional, spiritual cause, the root.

Here's my chart:

After some more pondering, I think I need to look at the Sun as ruling the head and face of my chart. Being a female, Sun would rule the left cheek and Saturn the right. Sun is nearly half way through Virgo, ruling the intestine and assimilation of nutrients. Sun is in the 2nd house of values so this would emphasize the value of the food I eat or the ability to assimilate the good stuff taken in. Sun is in the Capricorn duad and decan of Virgo showing a slowing down and/or limited capacity to assimilate or that there is not enough of something, perhaps. Since it is in the 2nd quadrant, dividing the sign into 7.5* segments, that would lend a Sagittarius quality to my Sun. With Jupiter in Cancer, ruling opposite Capricorn, I wonder if the nutrient is Calcium. With the two small spurs on my neck, I must not be assimilating Calcium properly, it is misplaced. But that doesn't feel quite right or complete. So I'll look at Mercury, dispositor of Sun.

Mercury is also in the 2nd, values of the face, Taurus decan, Gemini duad and quadrant. Gemini brings in the arms 10th brings in my job, 11th house brings the income from that but is also naturally ruled by Uranus who is associated with unexpected accidents. Looking back to the Solar Returns, both that were in effect when the accident occured at work, Mercury was in hard aspect. The next year, Mercury was void of course, this year Venus is void of course. Venus rules my 3rd. The work comp insurance doctors have done a ridiculous job of assessing my problem. One of the doctors did an EMG and didn't even cover the area of the left arm where my pain was, although he did cover that area on the right side. I'll have to ponder some more. I'm going to figure this out. :brows
