Trial Advocacy Competition

1
I've been selected as a finalist in the trial advocacy competition at justice school. There are six of us competing on thursday and I would very much like to win. I am the only woman competing, and some of the men are rather arrogant and underhanded. So I drew a chart asking "Will I win the competition?" at 6:11 am, December 11, Newport RI.

I got some positive indicators, and some negative indicators. First off, my significator is jupiter (L1, Sagittarius) I took that as a positive sign, as jupiter rules law and is a benefic and is strengthened by being in sag, it's also VERY TIGHTLY conjunct mercury which rules both the tenth (honors and prestige) and the seventh (legal disputes and debate) AND It's conjunct mars, ruler of the fifth contests and competitions. HOWEVER, it's in the 12th, not necessarily a good place to be from what I've read. However, I am somewhat of "the underdog" in this competition. Could this placement be less detrimental and more indicative of the fact that I am not the one people are focusing on? I am myself the "hidden enemy" right now?

The moon is also in the ninth house, signifying my focus on the law, but it's making a seperating square from my significator and its conjunctions. Is this square a problem? The next aspect it will make is a square to the ascendant, and then an opposition to uranus in the third.

The only other nice thing I noticed is that both the sun (lord 9) and venus are in the first house. Perhaps I will have the assertiveness and charm to pull through on this (it's mostly a speaking contest)

Anyone have any thoughts? I'll let you know friday if you're right

Hi,

What degree is the Asc? As in, how far is Jupiter into the 12th house?

Lord 1 is very strong, and Lord 7 in the sign of Lord 1 is very positive.

However, being in the 12th indicates you will not get the chance to display your talents (essentially strong, accidentally weak)... and 12th house emphasis certainly puts the emphasis on underhand things going on.

Is this an exam-style thing or more of a fun competition? Major success/prestige is 10th house, fun is 5th. We want to see the appropriate significator going to aspect Lord 1.

Lord 5: Does Mars reach Lord 1 or Lord 7 first? This would show victory going to you (1) or your competitors (7).

the ascendant is at 7'45 Sag, and Jupiter is at 3'49 Sag, so it's only 4 degrees away from the first house. Mars will hit jupiter first in six minutes, and them mercury (L7) a degree later. The competition is part of class, but it's a funsy type thing. The winner gets a little plaque, but it's not like we get a better job or a raise for it. It's just a nice thing to say you won.

I've had a closer look at the chart and my opinion is the following:

The Moon being ruled by Lord 7 (your competitors) and the presence of Lord 7 on the Asc. shows you are in awe of your competitors and feeling under pressure from them.

However, you are clearly the stronger candidate, as Jupiter in Sag has bucketloads of essential dignity. Lord 7 being in your sign is also very positive as it is in detriment and lacking in essential dignity, showing your competitors are weaker than you.

Having said the above, Mercury is closer to the Asc and so is accidentally stronger.

Also, the Moon separates from squaring Lord 7 and goes to trine the Sun, natural ruler of honours and achievements, a possible indication of your competitors winning.

However, this is contradicted by Lord 5 approaching conjunction to Lord 1, showing your winning!

The Moon shows the "course of events", so I would put greater emphasis on her movements. But on the other hand, Mars perfects his conjunction to Jupiter before the Moon perfects with the Sun...

Overall I see that you are by far the strongest candidate, but that you may not to get to show this off in the competition. As with all competitions, there is an element of chance involved. It's not just about who's best qualified to win!

Don't let the other folk intimidate you. You are a very strong candidate :)

Good luck!

Good luck for even being in the competition! (I remember my moot court competitions as one of the best parts of law school!)

However, with Jupiter being so close and within five degrees of the First House, could it not be read as being in that house? And as your ruler its so strong, I take that as a strong sign that you will win.

What degree is the Moon in? Is it in Libra? (If it's conjunct Spica... then I'd say you're a shoe-in).

Maybe the 12-house emphasis means you're the "come from behind winner"? Or is your topic something to do with prisoners (perhaps at Guantanamo Bay)?

I saw the chart just now and I noticed that your competitors are ruled by Mercury, ruler of the 7th. I'd say with Mercury in Sag. in its detriment, bodes well for you. Also, their ruler, Mercury, is about to conjunct your 1st house, meaning they are under your sway, and so are the judges, also ruled by Mercury.

I say you're going to win.

Keep us posted.

the case is a date rape and illegal alcohol consumption fact pattern, so maybe that's the 12th house stuff?

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I will of course post the results asap
