It is really emotionally difficult for me to interpret the following horary with objective detachment because I was so attached to my beautiful six year old tabby cat named Maui. Could other folks look at this, and gently let me know what you think?

Question: Is Maui still alive and healthy and happy? (I am not asking if I can get her back. I know I can't.)

The horary was cast on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 12:01 pm in Gaithersburg, MD on www.alabe.com.

Background: Maui was the bestest, most loving, most favorite cat I ever had. I took her out to California with me and could not find a place to live that would allow me have her at a price that I could afford. Cat rescues in the area were totally overwhelmed, and I could not bear to take Maui to the pound (if they don't get adopted, they are put down).

So I took her to a farm outside of San Diego in the desert to stay with a lady who had five other cats. It was a beautiful place, and I knew the lady would treat Maui well. Unfortunately, Maui quarreled with her cats, and ran off.

It has me worried sick for a long time, because the southwestern desert is full of cat-eating coyotes, and Maui grew up on an Ohio farm with no prior coyote experience.

7th house cusp is Pisces:
Jupiter (10 degrees) is in Sag in the 4th house - this is Maui. It is strong in its own sign. It indicates a wonderful cat, and also a beautiful place on the earth. This is where I left Maui.

Sun (querent) is separating from Jupiter (quesited - Maui):
The Sun is separating from an opposition with Jupiter (I know I won't be getting Maui back, as this aspect makes clear).

The Moon (5 degrees Sag) is also in the 4th house (her natural house), in a wide conjunction with Jupiter. The Moon could also signify Maui. I think this is where Maui started out, happy on the San Diego farm.

Maui was captured and sent to the pound:
What makes me sick at heart about this horary is that the Lord of the 6th (Saturn) is in the 12th, suggesting Maui is under the Bonds of restraint, or prehaps in prison, under the command of some (cat) Officer.

What happened to Maui? Is she dead?
Now, I'm trying to see if Maui was sold (adopted) or is now dead. I am using John Gadbury: On Thefts, Fugitives & Strays. I don't feel sure of myself - don't have a sense if she is adopted or dead. Could other folks please take a look at this, and let me know what you think?

And one more correction:

The Sun is approaching an opposition with Jupiter (not separating from an opposition).

First of all I haven?t looked at the chart, so don?t take anything I say as skirting around a judgement.

Traditional texts raise the issue of radicality for questions that generate such a late ascendant. As you say, there?s nothing that you expect to be able to do about this, and you ask for gentle responses to a situation that could be more unpleasant than you really want to think about. Its like saying ?give me the full and honest truth, but make sure it?s what I want to hear?.

There has to be a clear intention for the question, and you have to be asking it of your own free will, with a genuine motivation for wanting to know the truth. If not, when there is a sense of hesitation or confusion about what you want to know, or how much of it you want to know, that?s when these radicality issues occur. The traditional guideline is that it may not be the best idea to judge such a chart.

You know I was thinking with the Asc aligned with Regulus, in the Sign of the Cat, that perhaps it was an indication of cats fortune...

A late ascendant also an indication of being too late to do anything about the situation?

In any case I understand your upset, it is a joke in our family that my dying words will be "here kitty kitty" in the wilds of Africa... I generally retort that there are plenty of lions in CA, I dont have to go to Africa to be some kitty's snack.

Cats are natural desert animals, so even if she was raised in Ohio, she has a good chance of finding herself a nice comfy place to live. Ca, isn't exactly sparse when it comes to people who like animals. Hugs,

I never even considered the late degree on the ascendent. I have not had much luck downloading Lilly's CA from mithras93.tripod, and I haven't had a chance to order the book yet either. (Of course, I don't even know if this is covered in Lilly, it's just a hunch.) Thanks for bringing this up.

This could not be a better description of my California sojourn. This horary was right on the mark about me. I wish it could have pegged Maui as easily.
