Recently I calculated an election chart for submitting proposal for a public art project. It was for the outdoor sculpture for the new Civic Administration building.

I am new to horary, and the time frame was tight so I chose to elect by the Moon. I placed Asc on a benefic fixed star Sirius and Venus Lord 5 is conjunct Asc as well. Since the project is for the government building so the government is my potential employer for this project I asigned 10th house to the other party. In my chart Moon is in aplying trine to Jupiter lord 10 and 6. Today, just as the transiting Moon is aproaching to meet Jupiter I got a rejection letter

Where did I go wrong?

I thought, if I made a mistake in asigning the rulers, and even if the Saturn is the one I should be looking for, still the Moon in election chart will conjunct Saturn, after trine with Jupiter, so I thought maybe some translation of light would occur and the answer would still be positive

This election chart also corresponds nicely with my natal chart... so I am puzzled and sad...

Jupiter, ruler 10 is strong but retrograde, is this very bad or what? Also, I have found out that the Jury convened on June 14th, and decided on who is on the short list just as the Mercury was turning retrograde and just before the new Moon.
Mercury is cazimi today, but retrograde, I don't know if it has any relevance to my chart...


Any thoughts?

Simple: You assumed guaranteed success through the right tricks. Your proposal wasn?t what they were looking for, or just wasn?t good enough.

Electional work may help find the best times to improve the chances for what we want to happen. That doesn?t mean that what we want will happen. That?s astro-greed.

Does your natal chart indicate the potential for such high-profile success, and does it point to this period as a likely time for it to happen?

Hi Kirk, thank you for your response and in a way you are right, I was hoping for a success, maybe too much. At this point I was hoping to be on a shortlist... but not only because of an election.

As a matter of fact, my natal chart does have potential for this kind of success, and this would not be the first time for my work (for public art) to be chosen. It is a very realistic possibility, and already part of my life.
Especially now when transiting Saturn in (natal 7th) and transiting Jupiter in (natal 10th) are both making a trine to natal Saturn, ruler of my chart.

Here are some things to consider:

Moon, signifying you, is peregrine in Leo and heading into conjunction with Saturn (ruler of 7) in detriment in Leo. Moon against Saturn always seems rather unfair, but such a Saturn has plenty of power to cause problems for a so-so peregrine Moon. Detriment doesn?t weaken Saturn but gives it the power to act harmfully. The Moon?s ruler and almuten, Sun, is also peregrine. So you haven?t given yourself much strength in this chart in facing surly competition.

That nasty Saturn rules the 7 house signifying competitors. Mars ties with Saturn as 7th house almuten, and Mars is powerful at home in Aries, sitting pretty in the 10th house of success and honors, and sextile the Sun to boot. Your Moon, by contrast, is hidden away beneath the earth ? the opposite position from where one usually wants to be when seeking acclaim, success or honors.

I?m not sure about this one ? does the Moon?s trine to Jupiter as ruler of 10 actually get passed on to the competition because of translation of light from Jupiter to Saturn?

ThAnks again, you've pointed out some basic things I overlooked, for example that 7th is a competition ... but I actually thought that being in sign of detriment will weaken the Saturn but overlooked that Sun and Saturn are in mutual reception by triplicity (interesting thing is also the fact that majority of other artists in this competition are much older than me, Saturn?) , ... Also, as you say, I shouldn't have placed poor Moon below horizon, this being a public and visual matter... but Moon is trine Jupiter, ruler 10, I placed my hopes in Jupiter... and Venus.
Obviously I made a bad chart and probably what I proposed was not what they were looking for
