Hello Everyone,

A friend of mine called me asking me if I could do a Horary asking if someone would win the Mega Millions tonight (as it has not been won for quite some time and up to about $300 million I think), and if I could tell from what state the win would take place.

I told them I would give it a shot, but that it would hardly be feasible to figure out from which of states we would find our winner. Data: 8/31/07 7:22 pm Manhattan, NY Asc 6 Pisces.

This seemed like a rather fun Horary to place up for discussion and learning. Here are my thoughts on the matter.

In questions regarding a lotto win we use the 11th house ruler as significator of the winnings. It is pennies from Heaven, and in this sense, it is the money from the government, 2nd of the 10th. Saturn as ruler of the 11th signifies the winnings. It being at 29.48 Leo is tightly conj. Regulus! How fitting for Mega-Millions. In this case, less significant is the symbolism of Saturn being in its detriment. The chart wants us to recognize Regulus here.

Asking about ?someone? we would look to Lord 7. If Lord 7 was applying to Lord 11. In this case Mercury Lord 7 is in the 7th, and exalted. However it does not contact Lord 11. More often than not this would suggest a no. The South Node will often add problems if conj. a significator or house cusp. Although, in some instances with the North Node tightly on the ascendant, as it is here, we are often provided with a positive outcome of what the querent is looking for. And my friend was definitely looking for a win by someone.

Is there something else that could show a win?

Yes. The Moon is a general significator of the people, and the timing of events within a question. It is applying closely trine to Saturn. The Moon is currently moving fast, so its strength to perfect the event quickly is increased. This may very well be the win. My first thought was that the 3 degrees applying to Saturn could mean that the lotto is not won for 3 more weeks. But then I realized that the lotto was going to be drawn approximately 3 hours after the question was asked. So in this case we have a feasible timing to fit the chart timing to reality.

Moon is also applying by antisica to Saturn in approximately 3 degrees. So this unit of 3 is obviously very important. The event is to happen soon. Weeks is beginning to no longer to make much sense. Especially when we see that the Moon ending its current sign is a good indication of the situation at hand coming to a close.

Interestingly, in focusing on the Moon, we see that right after the Moon hits Saturn it will turn into Taurus. In other words, as soon as the money is reached by this significator it will become exalted. Exactly the kind of change we would expect to see when someone wins the lotto. That is a state of exaltation indeed! Rather neat symbolism,,especially if the judgment is accurate..

At any rate, I think it makes the most sense to judge that someone does indeed win the Mega Lotto tonight. And if someone does not, well, we have an interesting chart to learn from when they do.

My thought about location would be this. With the Moon placed in the east in Aries. It seems to me that the winner would most likely be from the eastern side of the United States. One of the Arian pioneering sort of states, perhaps New York, perhaps Florida.

It will be an interesting thing to look at after the fact to see if we can figure out the approximate location in the States once the outcome is revealed.

Note: I am placing this post at 9 pm New York time, about 1 hour or so before the drawing, so I realize this is not giving you each much time to respond beforehand, but either way, this is a fun one.

I have to make an adjustment.

Looking it up on Yahoo. I found an article listing the states involved in Mega Millions, which they report is up to $330 million.

Involved state are:

California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia, Washington, Michigan.

So I must remove Florida from previous post, as they are not involved.

Besides New York, as a very eastern state, I will have to include New Jersey as my other choice. Because I am thinking, if the querent is calling me from New York, and she is Pisces, the Moon is in Aries, one sign over. We can take this literally to mean one state over. So this could quite feasibly that the winner comes from New Jersey. Or again New York, because New York fits the symbolism as well.

Okay, Here are the results: Indeed the Mega-Millions was won as judged.

Interestingly, there were several winners. 1 winner from each of the following states:

1) Maryland
2) Virginia
3) Texas
4) New Jersey

Indeed New Jersey was one of the places as I was surmising in the judgment. Fascinating.

*Oh and I do apologize, in my previous post I left out ?Texas? which was one of the participating states. That?s what happens when Horary write-ups are done after a certain hour of the night.

Funny enough, when I initially drew up the chart one of my first instincts was that I thought that it was possible that there would be multiple winners when I saw that the 7th cusp was in a mutable sign, with lord 7 in a mutable sign. This made a pretty clear statement of more than one winner. However, since a request for that information was not in the initial query from my friend I decided to leave that point out. In retrospect I probably should have put it in. It is amazing though just how clearly this chart fits the situation at hand. It is what draws us to Horary again and again.

So now that it is done, let?s take it a step further. Once we decided that there might be multiple winners, how would we go about identifying the other winners?

Well, since we know that Saturn is the Winnings, note, amazingly, that 4 planets behold Saturn!!! Literally a description that 4 winners would behold the winnings!! Moon trines it, Jupiter Beholds it via a trine, Venus is conj it by being in the same sign, and Mars beholds it via sextile. Amazing Amazing stuff eh?

Let?s look at how we could have figured out who wins it in retrospect using this idea.

The Moon is indeed New Jersey because it borders the location of the querent, it being the next sign over from the Ascendant (New York). Mars must be Maryland as it is the next closest state from New Jersey (that is on the list of participating states), then Virgina must be given to Venus because it is relatively close to the border of Maryland as we see Venus 2 signs away from Mars. Jupiter must represent Texas quite simply as the largest planet for the largest state. But it is also shown in being such a far distance away from all of the other states. We would not give Jupiter to California, which is also far, because Jupiter fits too perfectly the image of Texas?s great size, and Jupiter?s location is at the southernmost point of the chart, and Jupiter is a southern most state as opposed to California.

It is utterly fantastic how once we reach beyond the boundaries, and stretch our imagination into the chart, we see how it is indeed signifying all of the answers we could ever wish to have. I love it. What a fun Horary to review?.!!

you might want to repost this thread in the speculation forum as they will be very interested in it as well. Mega Millions is also played in California. I believe there are seven states that participate, I'll see if I can't find that info for you, Granny

well you have to peck and hunt for them so here is a list all together. =)

California, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Ohio, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia, Maryland and Washington.

I think Mass is the northern most and Texas the Southern most (I think the tip of Texas is further south than the tip of CA? Wa would be western most and easternmost? new york or New Jersey? I do believe, have to do a check on that, but I think that's correct. good think Alaskas not on the list, it gets to be eastern, western and Northern Most, obnoxious state! (yes that is humor, my step brother lives there and i like to tease him about it)

Well Mass would be the most northern, NY is up there as well. Well, as a part of the harmony of things Alaska was of course not in the Horary. Otherwise we would have a very strange looking chart!

Texas is indeed much more southern at its deepest south than California.

Thankful and amazingly, the chart pieces it all together with such a beautiful touch of Astro- geography.
