valens method of profection

Hi
Valens says profection begins in next sign when both fortuna and spirit are in same sign. What if they are 4 signs apart? Like fortuna in Cancer and Spirit in Aries?

I believe Valens is talking about aphesis, not profection. Someone may correct me if I am wrong.
Fortuna or spirit are released from their respective signs. Only if they are conjunct that you have the special case.

No. That I know of, only in the special case when both fortuna and spirit are in the same sign, then Spirit releases from the next sign.
Example: fortuna in cancer, spirit in taurus, fortuna releases from cancer, spirit from taurus.
Fortuna and spirit in cancer, then fortuna releases from cancer, spirit from leo.
