I want to bring attention to an event that I am helping to organise at Nottingham (on 23rd July - see below). To our knowledge, this is the first major astrological event held in the East Midlands for quite a number of years. When I was a new student of astrology, I remember attending vibrant groups in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester, but now it seems that these areas, and most of the areas that surround them, have little or no astrological activity.

We are building some local promotion from a very old (and probably out of date) database of contacts from the old Nottingham Astrological Society, but we really need to build a fresh list of contacts for astrologers who might be interested in details of this, and other astrological events we are planning to hold in various locations in the Midlands. We are currently chatting with Benjamin Dykes to get him along for a one day workshop around October time, and if we know that we will have good support from astrologers in the midlands, we can start to plan more events featuring top astrologers with worldwide reputations.

My first ever astrology conference was the AA conference in Nottingham in 1990.

My first time meeting other astrologers (even Kim Farnell, but she doesn't remember it - I was just some Yank Air Force guy who attended an astrology conference) aside from the Hunts Astrology Group in Cambridgesire.

It was also the conference where I first met Nick Campion, Charles Harvey, Brian and Ananda, Olivia Barclay, Lee Lehman, and countless others - including our own Laura Boomer at the Nottingham train station on my way back to Cambridgeshire.

I never really made it off the Uni grounds, however. Too much fun at the conference itself.

I'm sure we could draw a crowd if I showed up (with a case of good wine).

It's a lovely area to have a conference.

Darby and Leicester also hold a fond place in my heart (never mind that I was a U.S. Air Force guy and somehow got young ladies to ask me to "come back home and have the family meet you" on a few occasions).

Ah, well.

Sadly, due to the serious ill health of a close family member of the speaker, this event has had to be cancelled. Anyone who has already booked should receive an email from Angela Cornish today. Angela will also keep those on the list informed of future plans.

We are sad to have to cancel the event at this late stage, but of course, our thoughts are with Per and his family at this time.
