I have a romantic horary.

Two graduate students, one is studying abroad for the next year, writing their dissertation. The other is in the States. They met, and continue to write to each other. Letters as well as e-mail.

Q: With our communication as it stands now, will our relationship grow?

We have two angular significators applying to opposition. Straight shot: no your relationship will not grow. The two of you are separating, pulling apart.

Jupiter in the 1H is angular, and not peregrine, that's good. With being Rx and in fall, however he is simply not in a position to develop the relationship right now. Jupiter is not moving forward toward anything new. This is a bad time for new ventures. Jupiter in Capricorn most likely is lonely. Jupiter is also the 3H Lord, this a bad time for Jupiter to try to pull off anything elaborate. Communication is weak, promising more than it will deliver.

Though Jupiter receives Mercury in exaltation and applies to aspect, Jupiter does not set the agenda for Mercury. The Moon does as the ruler of Cancer and the Moon is in the 2H of money. So Mercury is responding to money issues rather than Jupiter's letters and exhortations.

Mercury is really fast and is the one moving to separate himself. Bad news for the querent.

Everything seemed clear til I thought about that point of fortune in the 7H angular. It means that their treasure is their relationship. So I started looking for secondary indications. Lo and Behold, I see that Jupiter and Mercury are in parallel, less than a degree apart. In addition, Mercury and Jupiter both parallel the POF. All three parallel the ASC-DSC axis! That is a sign, under ordinary circumstances of a relationship that is fortunate and likely to develop into a strong union.

According to Goldstein Jacobson, the parallel is similar to a conjunction and a conjunction among angular planets is a sure sign of perfection.

I'm confounded with how to interpret this. I don't think I should ignore the opposition at all. It is there and glaring across angular houses. But these parallels are striking too because of their weight and number.

I'm thinking that I should consider telling the querent a combination: that right now the two are separating, they are 6000 miles apart. Jupiter knows this but doesn't want it (receives Mercury but in opposition). Yet some kind of romantic union is in store in the future it seems to me. The chart is clearly showing opposition along side parallels.

Querent should let the quesited go on his merry way for now, separate and let the communication lapse with the idea that they will be united in the future?
