Horary : Will I be admitted to the greek university ?

1
Hi all,

Background of the question:
I?d like to enroll in a master program offered by a greek university. Problem is: the program is not yet accredited by the ministry, but the university keeps saying: call back next week, we are expecting the ministries? letter every day....

So I asked: Will I be admitted to the program ? I know that this is 2 questions in one: will the program take place, and: will they accept my application, but that only occurred to me after I asked...

Chart:
3.8.08, 12:06 EET, 52N19 8E22

Asz 15? Libra (on my natal venus + ph saturn-> radical)

I can see 2 answers here: 1. Answer no, because :

The university is house 9 (gemini). In that case I don?t see a connection between mercury (university) and venus (me). Venus will soon enter virgo, sign of it?s fall in house 11 (hopes dashed). Moon conjoins saturn in half a degree (saturn rules 4-> end of the matter).
But: I?d really love to study there. This relation is not reflected in receptions between mercury and venus (or asz). And: As moon conjoins saturn in half a degree, I had expected an immediate information that I dont have a chance, but I keep calling and calling and still no end of the matter....(timing problem).

2. Answer Yes, because:

The university is foreign, so I take house 5 (9 of 9) (Aquarius, ruled by saturn). This seems to fit more, as Asz is ruled by Saturn (Almuten), this reflects my relation to this program (based on receptions).
Mond conjoins saturn (university) soon -> Yes (but this leaves the timing problem as above).

I oscillate between these two interpretations and can?t decide...maybe someone has an idea on the chart...thanks...

Hello leywand and all the members of this forum. :D

I am a VERY new student of horary astrology but I am very excited to be a member of this community and learn from the best.

Leywand I took a look at your chart and will attempt an interpretation, but please take everything I will say with a grain (or more!) of salt.

You are represented by Venus, the University by Mercury. Unfortunately, I have to agree with your first interpretation, that the answer will be no, for the reasons you offered. Assigning the fifth house ruler to the university does not seem right to me, despite the descriptive ruler Saturn, unless the real reason you want to go there is fifth house related; sunbathing, ouzo drinking? (joking). If I understand correctly, your logic behind this turning is that you give the radical 9th ruler to Greece (foreign country) and then the 9th from the 9th to the university. Even if we assume that this approach is the more descriptive in terms of receptions (Saturn is in the triplicity and term of Venus), we cannot avoid the fact that Venus is in Saturn?s detriment and Saturn is in Venus? fall, and without essential dignities, so I am not sure the translation of light by the Moon would be very beneficial.
You mentioned that when you asked this question, at the back of your mind you were wondering if the programme will go ahead in the first place.
Looking at the condition of Mercury, we find it placed in the turned second house, burned by its ruler Sun. Could this indicate that fiscal problems will force the school to cut down on the number of admissions or scrape off the programme all together?

Sorry I could not offer a more positive look, the experts will be able to give you a more reliable interpretation.
(I apologize for any errors in my language, my English is far from perfect ).

Hi Aphrodite,

thanks for taking a look at the chart.
I am a VERY new student of horary astrology
If so, then you already know a lot :' How do you learn horary ?

I appreciated your analysis, and if I wasn?t asking about myself, I guess I?d judge as you did. I still hope you are wrong, though... :)

Concerning house 5 or 9:

Just found out that J. Frawley uses the 6th house to denote a foreign president (king) -> 10th from the 9th house. So the 5th house might well be used for a foreign university, I guess.
(I admit that Ouzo and sunbathing are part of my plan there...you caught me..)
Even if we assume that this approach is the more descriptive in terms of receptions (Saturn is in the triplicity and term of Venus)
I took the Ascendant being in saturns (lord 5) dignities to signify my urgent wish to study there....I?d LOVE to study there...no other significators represent such a relation..

we cannot avoid the fact that Venus is in Saturn?s detriment and Saturn is in Venus? fall, and without essential dignities, so I am not sure the translation of light by the Moon would be very beneficial.
It looks as Venus and Saturn are in mutual (bad) receptions and thats not so bad then. That signifies a lousy student and a bad university. I might not have a chance at Oxford, but a bad university might accept me...

The receptions are descriptive here, but I doubt that they show any results.
Applying Aspects will show what happens, and the moon is about to be conjunct saturn (university), having separated from venus (me) (Is it a translation as it?s across sign boundaries ?).

I?m still confused about this applying conjunction. It?s only half a degree till conjunction (31 mins). Half a month is already gone, and nothing happened. Maybe there will be some notice 31 days after I asked. This would be this week...

I?ll keep you updated....

Hi there,

I don't know about using the 5th from the 9th for university; I think the 9th house in this case is especially appropriate, as the 9th is 'foreign' AND 'university': perfect description.

The Moon going to Saturn definitely speaks of delay, delay, delay. The only other thing I could see Saturn representing, is that you choose to do something closer to 'home', since Saturn rules the 4th.

I can't see much past that Saturn. The Moon is peregrine in Virgo; not much will to get past the obstacles...?

GH :)

I hope you applied and you stand a good chance of enrolement. The Moon applies to Saturn. Saturn is almuten of the asc by exaltation and triplicity, and he is also lord of the hour. Saturn holds dignities on the cusp of the 9th by triplicity. The Moon and Saturn join in the 11th house of hope and wishes. Virgo signifies Greece.

Jupiter, the greater fortune, casts his dexter square to the ascendant, and Mercury, who is L9, casts his sextile to the same. Surely, opportunity is yours?
