My forthcoming book on primary directions will include reviews of software offering primary directions. My current list of programs include AstroFrames, Janus, Kepler, Mercurius, Morinus, Placidus, Sirius, Solar Fire, and ZET.

Several software authors have kindly sent me review copies, but I still lack Kepler, Sirius, and Mercurius. I should be glad to hear from anyone who owns one or more of these programs and would be willing to share their views on them, along with some output for comparison.

Also, if anyone knows of other primary direction software than the above-mentioned, please let me know.

Are these pages available in English? The directions included in previous editions of ZET are not real primary directions. Hopefully this will have changed.

Unfortunately by that time there?e not in English.Primary directions are now calculations exactly after Makransky.Did be for Zaytsev,some confrontation results(with Placidus).Program has can zodiacal and mundo directions with latitude and without latitude,parallel and raptparallel etc.Parallax propably isn?t included.I must ask.Availability would had be in the late year also in English.Original calculation primary directions in Z8 was wrong,crucial error occurred in backward conversion on ecliptic and determination realization direction only from these values.Valuable was attempt at inclusion secondary motion of planets.

Not sure what this means. Does the calculations in ZET differ from those in Placidus? If so, my money is on the latter.

Hello Martin,

I am so glad you will be coming out with a book on Primary Directions!! It looks to be a great predictive tool, however when I read all the discussion on Primary Directions it looks very complicated and time consuming to learn, and for that reason, I haven't even attempted yet to get into them.

I will be looking forward to your book, can you let us know when to expect it?

And thanks for the encouragement. The book will be out some time next year -- no exact date set yet, but look out for it at The Wessex Astrologer. Primary directions are easy to understand, really, if explained by a non-mathematician, although time-consuming to calculate by hand.

Here are some other programs that include primary directions:
1. Polaris: my program devoted to the techniques used by the late Alexander Marr, the main one is primary directions in Topocentric system. You can read about this program in Analytical Techniques section in Noel Tyl website.
2. ASTRO- A DOS program that was written by Alexander Marr. You can downloaded it free from www.juanestadella.com

Horloge Astrale calculate primary direction with accuracy. I used it with succes with placidus domification.
