I received an email from Malcolm who said as follows:
I saw your comment to Tom about not receiving notifications; I had a similar problem some time back and realised that, because I was deleting them without looking at them, the program was treating them as spam. Now I open them and then delete them.
Thanks Malcom! This took some time for me to figure out. Yes, I do use a spam-filter that applies a 'warning level' and a 'kill level'. At some point I stopped receiving topic notifications. That was a nightmare because there are so many interesting discussions going on in various forums but it was virtually impossible to keep track of the threads.
I lowered my spam filter levels by one notch. At this point I did start to received some topic notifications, but less than half. I have now lowered the filter levels yet another notch - it does seem to help!!
The thing that confuses me is that at do point in time did a topic notification come in at spam 'warning level'. My spam filter must be a natural Scorpio - an immediate kill!
Oh well, I appear to have won the lottery 10 times this week... but I have yet to be offered another batch of viagra!
