Mercury retrograde:
A story in the Norwegian news this week, Labour member of parlament Seara Kahn has been dismissed after it was revealed that she had incurred large bills on part of the government by abusing her mobile telephone through personal use. The use involved a large number of personal long disitance calls to her boyfriend, but also calls to clairvoyants operating payphone services. She was also to have consulted the clairvyants on political issues. The amounts are to have been in the excess of ?10.000,-

She is to have asked the clairvoyant which place she would get on the Labour party nomination list - 2nd, 4th or 6th position. The clairvoyant said she would come 6th, which is the position she was given before she withdrew from re-election earlier this week. Her telephone history shows that she called the same number 58 times.

'Oh, I wish Mercury wasn't retrograde!' Or maybe that is just what the doctor required to get society to recognize a more intuitive way of thinking. Or as I explain: "Astrology is about listening to what is going on in your enviornment." The current situation in Norway is thus: We have a princess that is running an 'Angel School' and a representive at the Norwegian parliament admits using psychics reagrding political issues.

Aftenposten, Oct 12th (In Norwegian: http://www.aftenposten.no/nyheter/iriks ... 707778.ece) prints a story today that refers to Charles de Gaulle, Fran?ois Mitterrand, Nancy and Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon and Margaret Thatcher all seeking counsel with their personal astrologer (old news). Previous Norwegain Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik (Christian Democrats) refused to have any connection with astrology, although it was predicted by astrology that he would lead a minority government not only once, but twice!! I also found an article from 1992 where Prime Minister Kaare Willoch openly confessed his interest of visiting and listening to what the soothsayers had to say.

In the editorial of Dagbladet, Oct 11th, Marie Simonsen says that our finance minister Kristin Halvorsen just as well should call a psychic straight away. As she points out, financial experts have misguided their customers for many years, raised a handsom salary, and when they loose everyone elses money they are either bailed out or replaced to a new office of esteem and respect. As Simonsen says, politicians are caught in making lies all the time without society responding in shock , but as soon the story involves soothsayers and secret boyfriends we take off into en exotic drama that carries us beyond the corridors of the parliament.

The question should be: 'Where will this current uproar and stirr lead?' Are astrologers and psychics due to be given a more credible position and function in society? Will astrology be treated in a more accepted and dignified manner in society? Are there changes further down the pipeline? Or is the message just a discription of the current mess and an attempt to pull other scholar disciplines down from their secure establishment of well-paid high horses?
