Simple observations on the Saturn/Uranus opposition 1 by Andrew Bevan I thought we might have a thread just to collect some simple observations and thoughts in connection with the Saturn/Uranus opposition. Anything regarding the fall of nations, regimes, earthquakes or extreme weather conditions could be taken note of. Will anything of this nature re-appear under the reoccurance of the aspect? Changes of administration, change of order - i.e. consequence of US election Racial barrier broken - i.e. the first 'black' president Generation changes - i.e. Obama looses his grandmother one day before the election. One shift follows another. http://www.astronor.com Quote Wed Nov 12, 2008 12:25 pm
2 by Andrew Bevan On Feb 24. 1966 there was an opposition beteeen Saturn at 18PI07 and Uranus 18VI07. The opposition of Nov 4. 2008 with Saturn in 18VI57 and Uranus in 18PI57 is an accurate reverse. Are there any obvious observations or comparisons regarding what was going on at the time that can be made? In 1964 Martin Luther King Jr. became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 35. http://www.astronor.com Quote Wed Nov 12, 2008 6:16 pm
3 by granny_skot In southern Ca we occasionally Get really bad East winds called Santa ana's (named after General Santa Ana of Mexico, Alamo fame) but Very oddly we got WEST winds of over 35 mph (I think that is in the 70kph range?) that happens almost never. it was as though a monsoon had hit without the rain? that was Sunday. there was thunder in the night before, but no rain. that is 34N12 118W11 roughly 60 miles west of los Angeles (yes wesst the coast faces south here all the way to Santa Barabara, then goes north again) Granny Quote Wed Nov 12, 2008 6:56 pm
4 by Tom Can we tell anything from these celestial events by the zodiacal position alone? I recall a famous American astrologer grimly predicting "war" about the time of the last Saturn - Pluto opposition. Well there is always a war somewhere. Racial barrier broken? Well yes it is historic that a black man (even though his mother was white) was elected President, but what is far more important is whether he makes things better or worse. If he triggers a nuclear holocaust his skin color will not be all that important to most of us. The opposition should be put into some kind of context, like a national chart or the chart of a world leader, for it to make any sense. I like fooling with the chart of the Grand Conjunction that occurred prior to the US Revolution as a US Chart March 18, 1762 4:41 PM GMT (NOTE GMT NOT LMT OR EST) Washington DC USA 8 Cancer 50 rises Yes I know Washington did not exist in 1762, but setting it for Philadelphia or New York doesn't change much. This chart has the MC at 18 Pisces 29. This Puts the Saturn - Uranus opposition smack on the USA MC - IC axis. Now we have something to work with. Saturn rules the 8th and 9th houses of this chart (Placidus) or a modern might say Saturn rules the 8th and Uranus rules the 9th. Saturn on the 4th house of real estate ruling the 8th house of taxes seems appropriate for the moment. The so-called "bail-out" of banks and other agencies holding billions of dollars of defaulted mortgages is paid for with tax dollars (or printed money, but that takes us far afield), but today the US Secretary of Treasury said that all that money may not end up withthe mortgage holders, and now everybody and his brother is lining up at the trough (Uranus = chaos?), credit card companies (I know it is only a coincidence that Vice President Elect Joe Biden's home state Delaware is the corporate headquarters of MBNA, the nation's largest credit card company), automobile manufacturers etc. The secretary can do with it what he wishes to and it is not reviewable by any court. In the 2000 Conjunction May 28, 2000 12:04 PM EDT Washington DC 28 Leo rises The opposition falls near the 2nd - 8th axis (again Placidus). This reinforces the idea of resources and taxes being a dominant theme. Someone might wish to look at Mars in the 2000 chart tightly squaring the opposition. Finally there were two eclipses in August - the last of the year. Total Solar Eclipse Aug 1, 2008 5:21 AM EST (For some reason Solar Fire is calculating the eclipse in EST) Washington DC 10 Leo rises This chart picks up the 2000 conjunction as the signs on the angles are the same, albeit with different degrees. It might be interesting to see where 28 Leo was at the time of the eclipse. The opposition falls in the 2nd and 8th houses and Mars falls right on Saturn. Saturn and Mars conjunctions rarely bring good things. The last eclipse of 2008 occurred a few weeks later. Partial Lunar eclipse Aug 16, 2008 4:10 PM EST (subtract an hour for EDT) Washington DC 5 Capricorn rises. The ASC - DSC axis is the reverse of the 1762 chart. Older astrologers would have called this "evil" but it might be more accurate to call it a time of upheaval. The opposition once again falls in the 2nd - 8th axis. Ominously Jupiter, conjunct the 1762 Moon in the sign of his fall is rising. Jupiter rules the 12th house and I think Lilly defined benefics in debility as desirable on the outside and poison within. Terrorist attack? False wealth? False ally? Anyway the point of the exercise is to try to put the opposition in some kind of context and in these charts it seems to emphasize the financial side of things for the US. There is a lot more that can be done here. Tom Quote Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:10 pm
5 by Andrew Bevan Great post, Tom! I have calculated an Astro*Cartography Chart for the Saturn/Uranus oppostition of Nov 4.2008. Niel Michelsen's American Ephemeris calculates the time to be 13.23 UT (GMT). The chart is interesting because Saturn and Uranus appear on the Upper and Lower Midheaven of the US East Coast, covering New York and Washington DC. Explaination: Planetary symbols along the charts upper rim show where the planet are on the Upper Midheaven, MC. Planetary symbols along the lower rim indicate where the planets appear on the Lower Midheaven, IC. Planetary symbols that occur on lines that float across the chart show locations where the planets appear either the Ascendant or Descendant. I guess that if you calculate a standard chart for this moment for Washington DC, the Void of Course Moon as Lady of the 8th house in her detriment in Capricorn in the 2nd house does not do great things for the economy. http://www.astronor.com Quote Thu Nov 13, 2008 9:09 am

I don?t know if there is any name for this configuration it?s a very poweful one. On this date ( at 6:00am) the configuration it will be at the maximum and will be also highly activated by the exact Full Moon aspect." Dan Living Astrology Blog Quote Thu Nov 13, 2008 9:29 am
7 by granny_skot Andrew, Is that Jupiter line and Mercury DC line going through much of the middle east? isnt' that a good thing? Oh and just noticed Saturn going through some of the east coast and Cuba, cuba was hit pretty badly last week with a hurricane. G Quote Sat Nov 15, 2008 3:29 pm
8 by Andrew Bevan Granny, you are on the right track. Here is a link to the chart of the Solar Eclipse of April 8. 2005 that coincided with the death of the previous pope. http://www.astronor.com/SE0405.gif http://www.astronor.com Quote Tue Nov 18, 2008 7:42 am
