Considerations when judging a chart regarding health

1
Hi folks.

I have only recently taken up judo, which I absolutely LOVE as a sport. However, at a practice I fell badly and wound up with what could have been a very serious neck injury, which has resulted in me being unable to practice for the last month: I have a trapped nerve in my neck/shoulder now, which I have to allow to heal before attempting further practice. It is healing well, but now I am ambivalent about the wisdom of stepping back onto the mat, lest I have another bad fall and do myself in, all over again, or worse. I'm not 18 any more, and these things take a lot longer to heal! My osteopath will shoot me if I do injure myself; she's already tutting at me for even thinking about it.

I cast this chart:

'Will I be able to rejoin judo again [and stay safe]'?

There are several warnings in this chart:

An early ascendant: 0'53" Gemini
Moon at 23'11" Scorpio (void of course in sign but within orb of the Sun)
Moon in Via Combusta.
Moon Under the Beams.

The Sun, 5th ruler, sits on the 7th angle in Sagittarius, and very aptly describes judo as a sport of both competition and self-expression for me. I just love it: the physicality, the competition, the struggle.

Mercury, my ruler, is in detriment and has just separated from conjunction with the Sun: still combust, but leaving.

Mercury applies to conjunct Mars. Further injury?

Venus, 6th ruler, I would surmise describes my injury, or the possibility of future injury as well: it applies by trine to Saturn (which is sitting in the 5th, putting a damper on my sport), in Saturn's sign. Saturn is in the sign of Venus' fall.

So my question is: do these considerations preclude a 'safe' judgement of this chart, or does the chart simply describe my current position: in detriment but leaving combustion (still injured but healing), applying to Mars (further competition but risk of further injury), and that my health (Venus) will meet obstacles preventing me from continuing the sport (Saturn in the 5th)?

Moon in Via Combusta and Under the Beams is fairly self-explanatory: I am in quite some pain still, but also feel gutted at the thought of not being able to compete further. Other injuries are to be expected in judo and are risks I'm willing to assume: cut lips, bloodied noses, etc...but another fall on my neck and it might be my last; hence the apprehension. The Moon applies to combustion: not a good sign, or does it show that I will continue despite the risks?

Any thoughts on this from my respected colleagues?

Thinking about it further, the Moon Under the Beams could also signify me 'going blindly' into the matter, since the Moon is being 'blinded by the light', so to speak. I suspect that this, plus the early ascendant, simply show that it's still my decision, but that I'm likely to continue judo in full light (no pun intended) of the risks to my health. I think what I was hoping to find in the chart was a 'no, you won't break your neck', but then again, that wasn't exactly how the question was posed, either...

With combust ruler and VOC Moon there will be no change soon. Your ruler is Me, cold and dry in Sag, sign hot and dry, so indeed you are ill. Dispositor of Me is Ju in fall. Do not play games with your health. According to JF when ruler is combust, Su is significator of illness. As we see, both Me and Su are at the begining of sign so there will be no change soon.
Me, as you pointed out go to conjunct Ma, ruler of 12 house. POF in 12 house too. I do not see any positive testimony. Really sorry.

Thanks, Goca.

In hindsight, I do think I have asked the 'wrong' question...because of course I will likely be injured again should I continue with judo, and judo is not really a 'safe' sport, because it is full contact.

The chart clearly shows that I am injured, and that it will take some time to heal; it will probably take another month before I can see for sure whether my injury will heal completely or not. The early ascendant attests to the prematurity of my question...charts don't lie!

What I probably should have asked was whether or not I would re-injure THIS injury, which is my main concern...but then again, maybe the chart is showing the inevitability of injury or re-injury, no matter 'how' I asked the question...

*sigh* I will have to take up fell-running instead.

Hi Gunhilde

It's not as vigorous as judo and fell-running, but you could try Tai Chi (as long as you go to someone who teaches it as a martial art). You'll quite likely find someone who teaches Chi Gung as well, if you're still interested in that - they're often taught together. www.taichifinder.co.uk

It is funny that you suggested that, Malcolm, because I had considered pulling out my Chi Gung DVD to increase the flow of my chi, especially to my injuries, and along with yoga, keep myself flexible. The last time I did the DVD, I did it at night, and whoo! were my dreams that night strange...

Alas, however, that I have a 1st house Mars: I require something that is not only extremely vigorous, but also slightly competitive. I have enormous appreciation of Tai Chi and Chi Gung, but they are a bit too...meditative, for what my body craves, which is [apparently] a good thrashing every now and again! :D

I have a friend who belongs to the long-distance walkers club...66 miles in 21 hours! Sounds good... :lala
