I recently went thru a chemical (very short lived) pregnancy. One day I was thinking much about it and then wondered when I will finally get pregnant again. I do remember asking myself this question out loud, in wonder. Then I suddenly remembered about the art of horary astrology, looked at my watch and the time was 10:06 AM, date: Nov.11, location: Atlanta, GA

I see Venus, the fifth house ruler, is conjuncting the ASC at 2 degree, along with Pluto. The Moon is applying to Venus (the 5th house ruler) at 2 degree orb as well, from the house of home- 4th. If that is implaying a positive result, how would you suggest I translate the 2 degrees into a time frame? The rulers are found in angular houses and are in cardinal signs.

I have to admit that yesterday, almost a month after the first question, I dared to ask the same question again and casted a second chart for it. I know I am not supposed to ask the same question so soon but I did anyway. The most bizzar things is - the chart configuration look almost the same, only now the Moon has jumped from the 4th house to the first, on top of Venus and Jupiter. While the Moon is applying to Venus (5th house ruler) and Jupier, my ruler Saturn had just separated from them. I know I am not pregnant at the moment because I just got my period. Did you had a timeframe in mind ? Were you asking "will I EVER have another pregnancy" or you were more like wondering "will I have a pregnancy this year" ?

no, I didn't think about a specific period of time. But I knew I was getting pregnant soon or later, I didn't question that. What I thought was - "when will that finally happen to me. Is it going to be soon, or is it going to take a long time, if I only knew WHEN!" Then i thought about horary and looked at the clock.
I am not sure horary gives a time answer, i was looking around in the net and I only got vague information.

Though your questions was- When will I get pregnant?, I'd say this cahrt (the first one, of course) is a strong testimony that you will have children. (Jupiter in the 1st, Venus ruling the cusp of the 5th and being on your Ascendant,and the cusps of these two houses don't fall into barent signs either).

As for the exact timing, I'm not sure I can be of a great help because I'm still trying to get a grasp on it myself but, lLilly does suggest that the time when the pregnacy will occure can be determined by counting the houses from the Ascendant to the ruler of the 5th where each house stands for a year. In your case, with Venus being in your first and conjuct your Asc, it really could mean during the next year (next 12 months). Its placement in a common sign could, though, prolong the matter a bit but not as much as a cardinal sign. So, given the fact that the L5 is in the 1st (one year) and that it is in a mutable sign, we may be expect it to take a few months (please, do note, I'm not suggesting it is true : ) )

A planet moving through a sign can sometimes show the development of the matter throughout the next period (often a year). So, maybe, it could happen just before the end of the year which should also fit two months more or less counting from the day your first question was asked. Not neccessarilly, though!

Of course, the time of your last pregnancy might also be of a ceratin help here if you don't mind sharing that information?

oh, this sounds so convincing and clear now. Two degree before the Moon completes the aspects and then exits the sign. I thought about 2 months before, given the rulers are in an angular house and Moon and Jupiter being cardinal, but didn't look at it as actually leaving the sign after the aspect had perfected (a completion of a whole long period). How bright ! Thanks, aglya.

For the sake of all us scholars trying to grasp the timing in horary, i will definitely let you know when i get pregnant and study this chart to discover the hidden answer.

As I said, it doesn't neccessarilly need to be true but the Moon should be a strong indicator of timing. try searching for a difference in degrees between the day you asked the question and your last pregrancy in any of the separating aspects, it may also be helpful. There is, obviously, no unique agreement about how to determine timing in such cases. Some astrologers would suggest the number of degrees the Moon will have to travel before it perfects the aspect with the significator. J. Frawley, on the other hand, suggests to multiply the number of degrees left to perfect the applying aspect with the number of degrees between the planet and the last separating aspect significant for the matter. Say, if the Moon will form the next partile aspcet in 2 degrees (next pregnancy), and if she (the Moon) is separated from the last aspect (the last pregnancy) by 3 degrees than the next pregnancy should occure in 6 units of time (3x2). (Don't know how much sense this sentence makes but there is a JF's article here on the site where you can read about that approach).

As for your Moon and Jupiter being cardinal it could slow the process down a bit.Not only is Jupiter your ruler but that planet is also very important in questions concerning the 5th house matters.The L5 being mutable could be another testimony of this process taking a bit longer than you expected to reach the desired outcome but it may be just months. Taht is because, my common sense tells me that if a woman wants to know when she'll become pregnant in general, months are basically the smallest time unit in most of the cases (this month, 6 months...), but if a woman is constantly trying to get pregnant, paying close attention to her monthly ciycles, especially if trying to concieve using the help of the modern medicine techniques- than she is, as Frawley would say, determined to succeed and, if we'd dare playing with the words, we could say- she is not cadent. She is determined. (The only thing that could, of course, prevent a woman in that position and with such determination from getting pregnant would be infertility or any other medical issue or accident but, looking at your chart, it shows no such signs as far as I can see) . So, she is basically expecting her pregnancy to occure every day (we know that, though there are only about 5 really fertile days in each woman's cycle, the fact that the sperm can survive inside the body for more than 3 days makes it approximatelly 10 days long "fertile" period)so, we should take weeks (if not even days) for the smallest time units. If the woman was really interested in whether she'll concieve this Thursday during her next in vitro fertilization procedure than, I believe, we should be more careful with determining small time units because our time frame is different from the time frame set by a person who is interested whether her pregnancy will occure "this year"!.
Eventual prohibition or any other interference of another planet interposing between the significators before they perfect the aspect should not, when the question is about timing, denote a bad outcome but could be pointing to an "obstacle on the road" before the desired outcome happens. Fortunatelly, in your case, there are no obstacles between the Moon and L5.

I wouldn't want to discourage you but, keep in mind it's an angular/mutable/cardinal mixture here and, though using Lilly's method where each house from Asc to the L5 equals a period of one year does lead us to believe we're talking about one yeare here, some thuings could be happening slower than expected and we can't be that sure it's this NY's eve that will bring the change.There are lots of great signs in this chart as it is.

amazing....i miscarried on Nov 2, I remember it was 2 days before the pres election. I asked my question on Dec 11, it's 9 days in between. Looking at my horary chart - there is a separating aspect between the Moon and my significator Jupiter - Jupiter at 18'32 and Moon at 26' 57- that's 8.5 degree apart. Amazing how that degree coincidence with the days separating my miscarriage and my horary chart. So here, one degree= one day. However, it's a cardinal Moon to a cardinal significator, in an angular house. Look what I found here on Celeste Teal website:

In a cardinal sign and angular house, time is in days; in a cardinal sign and succedent house, time is in weeks; in a cardinal sign and cadent house, time is in months.

However, when looking at the applying aspect of my Moon - its a cardinal Moon to a mutable Venus - 2 degree apart. I'll take it as 2 months, because two weeks is obviously not, and I'll keep you updated. I am sure there is a formula of how to define the timing in a horary chart but we still don't know it yet. Must look at old questions with a known answer.

I'm aware of this timing technique but, though I'm not really a John Frawley type of student, I must agree with him we have to be careful some times. That is exactlly why I've mentioned that "common sense" logic about pregnancy questions. We need to adjust these rules to the logical time frame. To what makes most sense. otherwise, how else to explain cadent houses, cardinal placements and years as the time units in questions such as "When will I receive the letter?" I have recently asked a question "When will my boots arrive?" (I ordered a pair of boots from a catalogue)- I examined the boots through the 3rd house (a packet), even found the 3rd cusp in Gemini (two boots, two bodies , similar thing happened once when I was searching for my lost gloves- the 2nd house cusp was in a mutable sign) but both L3 and my ruler were cadent, one of them in a fixed sign and 5 degrees were separating them from making the perfect sextile. It would have made absolutely no sense if I had chosen to conclude it would take the boots a few years to arrive. So, I knew I should use weeks, potentially months, as the biggest time units. So, it's pretty much the same in your case. Most of the indications suggested by Llilly helpful in determinating whether you'll be able to concieve are rather positive so we have to take the fact you're intesively trying to concieve into consideration. If I were to ask this question, i think even months would mean swift!
