The Centiloquium Of Ptolemy | pdf | 37pp | Download
The Centiloquium of Ptolemy is a work written by Claudius Ptolemy covering certain rules or aphorisms of Astrology.
Despite being credited with it, Ptolemy didn't write it. The author of this work is unknown, but the work has value.

Agree with you Tom.
May be the rest of his works are not originally authored by him. He is only compile them using different sources or "collect all known into one corpus".
In fact there is no example horoscopes/natal charts in his books, but only theory.

Centiloquium is very different from the scientific approach of Tetrabiblos and
Almagest, like magical astrology for example. This is a very famous example:
In generation and corruption earthly forms are subordinate to the celestials; wherefore they that frame images, do then make use of them, by observing when the planets do enter into those constellations or forms.
Hardly the author of Tetrabiblos would write this.

The best scholarly theory (coined by Richard Lemay) asserts that Centiloquium (or rather, Kit?b al-thamara) was written by Ahmad ibn Y?suf in the 9th/10th century. Since he is the first to produce a "commentary" on it, it may well have been his florilegy. No matter what the real authorship is, it utilizes conjunctional theory which was brought forth by Ab? Ma?shar some fifty years before Ahmad. Therefore Ptolemy's authorship is totally excluded; it is just its author's attribution, who knows, conscious or unconscious. Those times it was a real appeal to use a well-known authority eponymously, that is why Arabic works are full of pseudo-Dorothean, Ptolemaean, Valentian and Hermean quotations and allusions.

I am glad to hear it and am sorry that I came across so strongly. Inserting the phrase 'reproduced with permission of .........' is recommended for these situations and helps remove any concerns over intellectual property that others like myself may have.
