Where have all the Bees gone?

1
Where are all the Bees?

According to the Norwegian Newspaper Aftenposten the phenomena first occured in Florida, USA 2006. A bee keeper who went out to inspect the bees was met with a sight that he discribes as a ghost town: Only the Queen Bees, some maggots and honey remained in the hive. All the working bees had disappeared and vannished without trace. Now England and other countries follow suit, and the dissappearance of the bees is an issue of great concern. What's going on?

A Bee Crash?

Total Solar Eclipse

Well, on Sept. 22 2006 there was a total solar eclipse in the 30th degree of Virgo. This may be worthy of some study, considering that Mercury and Virgo are considered as the natural significators of small insects and working bees. In comparison there was a total solar eclipse on Sept. 23 1987. This was prior to and in precognition of the Wall Street Crash of Oct. 19. 1987. Eclipses (or lunations) occuring in the 30th degree of any sign indicate matters that have come the the end of the line and are due to either alter direction or collapse.

The Saros

The solar eclipse of Sept. 22. 2006 belongs to the Saros Series 8S, according to Jansky, which was born with the initiating partial eclipse at the Moon's Southern Node on April 1. 1718, 00.15 GMT. The luminaries in this initiating eclipse are located at 10AR55. In this chart the positions of Uranus in 3LI16 and Saturn at 29LI43, at either side of the sign of the Balance, are interesting and to be noticed. And also Chiron is located at 29PI29. I include this for observation as the eclipse of 2006 occured at 29VI20 and in oppostion to the initiating Chiron, and we are either questioning an act of fate or a curious and unexplainable 'wandering'.

The Uproar of Xena?

In 2003 astronomers discovered the minor planet and trans-Neptunian Sedna, that later has been renamed by some to Xena, the Warrior Princess. I'm not up to date on the current issues here, whether the name is Sedna, Xena or whether in fact astronomers can agree upon anything - but do note that as far as bees are concerned, all working bees are female warriors. In the year 2006 Sedna/Xena made her first station at 20TA14 and this could be compared with the position of Mars at 20TA19 in the initiation eclipse of the Saros series 8S on April 1. 1718. The eclipse was in Aries, so Mars is infact the eclipse ruler. Sedna/Xena is due to it's remoteness to the Sun and extremely slow-plodding object. Her 2nd station in 2009 occured at 20TA20. The time from 2006 and until 2009 us the time it takes for her eliptic motion to transit past the lord of the eclipse at 20TA19. In 2010 her 2nd station is 20TA54. Hopefully her body at that time is sufficiently seperated from the eclipse Mars for the bees to come back, or the crises to be settled - for the present time.

To Bee or not to Bee, that is the Question... :???:

Native Bees

3
HI interesting post - so far here down under we still have our bees and export them to the US I do believe en masse I think NZ has the mite that is devastating hives. Here in the tropics they are cultivating the Native Bee who pollinates but doesn't produce honey - these too are being exported from AUST for the fertilization of crops etc . They live under my veranda ( porch ?) and like to live the phone line in particular. I dont see the large european type bumble bee around ( but used to however They might still be about I just haven't been in the garden that much) Did that eclipse Run through the country of decline?

I checked Hildegard Von Bingen's Physica. She says the honey bee apis is from the heat of the sun.It loves the summer, has a swift heat, and is unable to endure cold.

However,Israel Hibner in Mysterium Sigillorum lists the bee as an animal governed by mercury

In terms of fixed star connections there is one obvious candidate here. The nebula in the constellation of Cancer known as Praesaepe. This cluster of stars is better known by the name the "Beehive Cluster", or the Latin equivalent, Praesepe. This word not only means a "hive" but also a "Manger", or "Crib".

Praesaepe is very close to the ecliptic with a latitude of only +01.17' so it is frequently occulted by planets. It is currently located around 7'30 degrees in tropical Leo. When exactly in 2006 did this phenomena first get reported? Could it be traced back to when Saturn was in Leo around this degree? Saturn first crossed this degree of Leo direct in September 2005. Saturn crossed this degree again Rx in late January and early February 2006. It went direct over this degree for a last time in early June 2006.

The combination of the greater malefic in its sign of detriment with this traditionally malefic star cluster would traditionally indicate a very unpleasant combination. Especially for bees!

According to Anne Wright's Fixed star website:
The name Beehive derives from the appearance of a swarm of stars in a dance of activity. There are at least 40 stars in the cluster that are visible to the naked eye as a cloudy patch, its 1.5 degree size is equivalent to three full moons end-to-end. In ancient times this cluster often served to predict the weather; if not crystal clear inclement weather might be on the way.
Unfortunately, little chance of spotting that in most of our light polluted skies today.

Its interesting that both the Babylonians and Chinese associate this cluster with death. To the Babylonians it was one of the portals to the underworld and communication with departed spirits. For the Chinese this star cluster also has associations with death and the afterlife and falls within the Lunar mansion known as 'Ghosts'. Furthermore, the Egyptians saw a Scarab Beetle in this portion of the sky with its links to death and rebirth in their religion.

Its not exactly a beetle but isn't there a theory the bees are being killed off, at least in part by, the small parasitic, blood sucking varroa mite which spreads diseases to the bee colonies?

The subject is very topical. Check out this new book on the subject:

Saros 8S

This Saros series was born on April 1. 1718, 00.15 GMT.

It is interesting to note how this initiating partial eclipse occurs on the lower midheaven of Britain. Mars, Lord of the Eclipse, is on the cusp of the 6th house of insects and small animals. Mars is in Taurus. Bees visit flowers, collect nector and pollinate.
They work, buzz and sting.

Astro*Cartography

In terms of the Astro*Cartography, I find it interesting that the Mars-line that indicates where Mars was on the ascendant, goes through Australia - this in relation to Sunny's comment that Bees were being exported from Australia.

Hi Matt,
I have looked at some news items on the subject. Science Daily, a US based publication I think, were reporting on Varroa on May 18th 2005.

The earliest reference I found was on the BBC. Farmers were protesting about funding cuts to bee inspectors. That was dated Oct 13th 2004
I think the first reports of 'Colony Collapse Disorder ?' come from late 2006 in the USA and early 2007 in Europe and Asia.

Some of the early reports use the term Colony Collapse Disorder but was that a description of the disease before Varroa was discovered?Scientists will come up with fancy sounding syndrome names rather than admitting that they don't know what is causing the problem. :-?
At present they are blaming a bacterium. Let us hope Andrew is right about it ending next year as bee pollination is an important part of our food chain.

.

I think that is the reality isn't it? Lots of theories but nothing definitive yet?
