Barack Obama awarded Nobel Peace Prize

The Norwegian Nobel Comittee announced that the Nobel Peace Prize 2009 would be awarded to Barack Obama. Time 11.00 CST, October 9. 2009, Oslo, 59N56 10E43.

It is the Day of Venus and the Hour of Saturn. The chart is not radical, which could cause a buzz.
I am including the Part of Spirit (POS) in this computation, because the POS is angular as the Peace Price is largely an award of honor.

It is not unusual that the Nobel Prize awards are due to some controversy and the Peace Prizes are difficult in particular. While Norwegians are largely pro Obama, a survey suggests that 2 of 3 Norwegians believe it was an incorrect decision and premature to award him the Peace Prize.

This is probably due to the fact that Obama is too early into his office for him to be awarded for his acheivements. The US is in fact in millitary combat in several places in the world. Important issues are yet not resolved. Matters could still get tough and there are several other good candidates that have exampled many years of dedication to making the world a better place.

The decision of awarding Obama the Peace Prize is very much the result or the vision and reasoning of the leader of the Nobel Commitee Thorbj?rn Jagland, who also recently has been elected as the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe. This is the first time the the Secretary-General has been elected from a country that is not a member of the EU nations. It is necessary to study the chart of Jagland to understand the processes behind the awarding of this prize.

Please show and explain to us what you have got. The prize has been considered visionary, yet probably premature and thus controversial. Being awarded the Peace Prize could be a burden for Obama rather than a help. What is it the Solar return says that indicates what is going on and what will happen? The motives of the Nobel committe and Thorbj?rn Jagland, who just has been appointed to his new office in the European Council, have also been questioned.

Several things happen within a few hours; Two and a half hours later NASA send a rocket crashing into the Moon in Gemini in hope of finding water. This event didn't quite work as astronomers had announced. Does pinning the Gemini Moon equate to a thorn in the side of the US president?

Venus in X shows that it was a good moment for a peace prize. I think the controversy could be related to Venus' conjunction with Saturn and Mercury, opposition of Uranus and the square of Moon.

While several military operations in the world (recent or those from the past) could be doubted, I think in general that it may be necessary to fight for peace if talking doesn't help. This reminds me of the recently deceased Marek Edelman who was one of the leaders of the 1943 Warsaw ghetto revolt against the Nazis. "He also felt obliged to appeal repeatedly to the world for freedom and peace - even when it had to be won in a fight."

The Venus, Saturn, Mercury stellium is in conjunction with his natal Mars (Moon and Uranus thus in square resp. opposition) and trine to his MC. Natal Venus is square to Mars and thus also somewhat affected by the Nobel prize chart. I think of his MC, sextile to Mars and sextile to the Jupiter Saturn conjunction which is thus trine to Mars gives him the strength to make him active for civil rights.

Quick observations

Morin used the 10th to indicate honors. While career makes more sense to us, in his day an honor was often the appointment to an important position, so the reference has merit. Saturn has no analogy with honors, so unless Saturn has great dignity (Libra, Aquarius or Capricorn) he denies honors or they are short lived or come with difficulty. This last is pretty descriptive of the situation.
Natal Moon in Partile conjunction to return Dsc.
I get natal Moon at 3 Gemini and SR DSC at 7 Gemini. I used Martha?s Vineyard, Mass for the solar return. Still it?s fairly close.
Natal Mars cnj return Mc and Saturn (natal Mars rules natal Mc).


I would find this troubling.
Venus returns too, on the cusp of return 8th.
I?m using Alcabitius semi arc so my 8th is a bit different, but the point that Venus assumes importance this year is correct.
Leo Sun cnj cusp of 9th to the minute.
Again this depends on house system.

When I did this I noticed something in the nativity that escaped me in previous observations and that is natal Mars on the 8th cusp (Alcabitius). JFK had this along with a lot of other stuff that indicated a violent death. It will be roughly six months before transiting Mars returns to Obama?s natal Mars, and of course it happens every two years, but a look at directions and progressions to that Mars might be worthwhile.

LR Mars at 25 Cancer falls on the malefic south node in the LR first. Notice this position, by mundane house, opposes natal Mars' house position

SR Mars is in the 7th house with which he has a strong analogy: disputes, lawsuits, warfare, divorce and duels are all part of Mars and the 7th. We can safely eliminate duels from our list of possibilities and I think divorce is probably out of the question. He's President of the US so disputes are a given. That this pertains to war is more likely and there is one going on in Afghanistan, and everyone is talking (Gemini) about it. Mars rules his natal MC and natal 3rd. These past two days, he's been at war with some of the news media.

Aries is intercepted in the LR 10th and having Mars in the LR 1st is an indication of honors, but Mars in fall and triplicity often brings events of mixed virtue. Looks like an interesting month.

OK I"m going to give up on data tonight. It turns out Obama spent his solar return in Washington DC, not Martha's Vineyard Mass and I thought. Arghhh.

Nobel invented Dynomite, it is not unusual for the peace prize to go to someone who is involved in WAr, especially if that involvement is geared towards peace. I suspect however it is geared mroe towards the US voting in a person who is more a peacemaker than a war monger, though I would also agree that it would have been better served to give it to him a few years from now.

In conjunction with the awarding of the Peace Prize, Obama is expected to arrive Oslo late Tuesday 8 December. The prize will be awarded on Thursday 10. The preceeding syzygy was the full moon in Gemini on 2 Dec 7.31 GMT. Calculated for Oslo this puts the Moon in the 7th house of guests. The Moon's final aspect in this sign is it's opposition to its dispositor, Mercury, the controversy?. This lunation occurs two months after the Peace Prize was announced, at which time the Moon also was in Gemini. The announcement was made only a few hours before NASA darted the Moon with a space projectile in search of water.

I'll get back with a time on his landing when this comes in. Today's news is that Secret Service will not permit Obama to accompany the Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg for a recreational trip in 'Nordmarka', woods that neighbour Oslo. These woods are enjoyed by celebrities, royalty and commoners alike. The Norwegian Prime Minister can frequently be observed on either skiis or riding a bicycle in the Nordmarka, according to season.

The cermony for the awarding of the Peace Prize starts at 13.00 CST on 10 Dec 2009, Oslo.

After a lot of urky planetary positions and aspects over the last few weeks, this chart shows the Sun in an applying trine to Mars in Leo, and the Moon is in Libra applying to the sextile of her dispositor in Sagittarius.
The previous syzygy was at 10GE15, which is conjunct the Part of Spirit.
This is a fine chart at any rate.
