There's indeed a Venus Mars cycle of 32 years. Venus has 5 synodical periods in 8 solar years. Mars has 7 synodical periods in 15 years and 8 in 17 years. These are related to the best visibility of Mars, like the opposition in autumn 2003. More exact is 15+17 = 32 years in which Mars has 15 synodical periods. In 4*8 = 32 years Venus has 20 synodical periods. 20 for Venus and 15 for Mars. Dividing these numbers by 5 means that there's a coinciding synodical return at 4 for Venus and 3 for Mars at ca. 6.4 years or 6 years and 4 months and 25 days.

Schematically these dates inbetwee gives a Sun position 2/5th of a circle or 144? further than the las one. So there's not only a 'Pentagramma Veneris' of the alchemists but also one of Venus and Mars combined. Note however that these inbetween dates can vary strongly because of the eccentricity of Mars' orbit.

Another point is that Venus' synodical return after 20 synodical times is about 9 days earlier than the Sun's return. Mars' return after 15 synodical times on the other side occur some 8 days later than the Sun's return. So throughout the periods the positions of these planets get more off. Check the data for other plurals of 32. 64, 96, 128. The last one will be allmost unrecognizable.

For another reason the last 128 year date is interesting. As Andrew's data point out the MC at the return is about 90? before natal position. If the tropical year would be exactly 365.25 days then the MC would be at the same natal position. However the length of the tropical year is about 11m15s shorter than 365.25. After 128 years this results in one year's difference.

This forms the basis of the reformed Gregorian calendar in 1582. Till then the Julian calendar had been used with 365.25 days as basis and intercalary day every 4 years. In 1582 the equinoxes were 11 days earlier than according to the calendars. The solution was found in the formula for the Gregorian calendar in which every centuryyear that is divisible by 400 (1600,2000,2400) is an intercalary year. The other century years 1700, 1800, 1900, 2100 etc) aren't so there's a correction for this 128 year deviation 3 times in 400 years (3*128=384 close to 400). Only after over three millenia there will be a difference of one day again.

The MC at age 33 will closely coincide with the one at birth. The year 33 is also an interesting one for Mercury has the synodical return at 33 close to the solar return. There is a cycle of 13 years (of two rough cycles of 6 and 7 years, compare the one of Mars). However after several times this one gets off too. 46 years is a more exact one (hence 46 -13=33 is close).

Mars too has more exact periods, 47 or better 79. Jupiter after 7 returns is rather 83 (7*11.86) years than 84 (7*12). Saturn at 59 (roughly together with 5*Jupiter).

The Babylonians who's astronomy was rather arithmetic than geometric were already familiar with these 'goal years' as they are called, after many generations of noting positions of planets.

Still long after the Babylonian period the Goal Years seem to have been used for the construction of ephemerides without the difficulty of geometry and observations. I assume the Indian astronomers did the same for centuries with their calculations to fit (arithmetically) into the long yuga periods of 4,320,000(,000) years.

Thanks Andrew, how do you do that? I just had a look at some online manuals a minute ago, but nevertheless they could have been written in Chinese, I'm zero in computer stuff etc :? . I guess I'll have some practise next weekend.
