I have finally got over my jet lag and crawled out from under the huge pile of backed up emails that built up since I journeyed to the land of the upside-down people. So, first, a public ?thank you? to the organisers of the Regulus Traditional Astrology conference at Melbourne for sponsoring my trip. This was one of the most enjoyable and informative conferences that I have ever attended. I'm not just saying that - I really mean it, partly because the whole event was themed on traditional astrological knowledge, which meant that it was all relevant to the kind of astrology that I am personally interested in. The quality of speakers was exceptional ? both from the point of view of delivery, and for the fact that their themes were very informative and also highly practical, so directly relevant to chart work. I don?t normally make a very good conference attendee (I?m a ?speaker? not a ?listener?) but I sat through every talk on this program and genuinely enjoyed each one.

Someone referred to this as the first ever conference (with a line up of international speakers) that was themed on traditional astrology and aimed at consulting astrologers. I questioned whether that was really the case, but I was assured it was ? and I must admit I?m struggling to think about a forerunner.

The announcement I want to make is that the organisers hope to make this a regular event, and are currently looking at options to explore for next time. If any of our members would like to consider the prospect of speaking in Australia on some aspect of traditional astrology, please give some thought to whether this is something that you could fit into your calendar. A whole-hearted endorsement from me - it was an excellent conference and I enjoyed both the wonderful line-up of speakers and the chance to meet other student & professional astrologers.

I hate to be a spoil sport but there was a strictly traditional astrology conference in Washington DC well over ten years ago. It was run by Rob Hand and a few others. The reason I remember this is because I did not attend, but it was the reason I became interested in traditional astrology. I was losing interest in my modern studies when a friend of mine who attended said to me, "You would love this stuff."

Me: "What Stuff?"

Her: "Traditional Astrology."

Me: "What is traditional astrology?"

From there I bought Joe Crane's book A Practical Guide to Traditional Astrology and from there I discovered The Traditional Astrologer Magazine an so on. The event was never repeated. I wish the organizers of the Regulus Conference continued success and may I suggest a future conference in the New York City Area.

Hell, come to New Zealand while you're at it...we're quite like Australians, just more polite!!

I didn't go to the Australian conference but Deb popped over to New Zealand and did a one day workshop and it was thoroughly enlightening and hugely enjoyable. Next time wild horses won't stop me attending the bigger conference. Really nice to meet both you, Susan, and Deb. I still think of that picture of the Queen on the wall - that will be the sticky-note of the day!
