Duplicated Angles Question on Solar Returns

Hi Everyone,

Does someone have any insights about what it means when a solar return duplicates the birth chart angles aside from the fact that it going to be a pivotal year? I need a little bit more to go on. My sister's solar return for this year duplicates her birth angles by 1 degree (ASC/DESC) and 13 degress MC/IC, same signs on all four angles. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Duplication of the angles in a solar return is very important and the closer to the nativity the greater the potential for a significant year. The theory runs this way:

The nativity shows the potential of the individual or the promise of the chart. That is the "what." A solar return with natal angles repeated is an indication of when the promise of the chart will be fulfilled because the same rulers of the natal angles rule the SR angles in this year. Now the promise of the entire chart can't be fulfilled in one year. So we need to look for aspects that are triggered or other indications in the SR chart in combination with the nativity.

Suppose for example we have a nice ruler of the ASC conjunct the MC in the nativity indicating that honors of some kind will come to the native. That's nice but when will they come to the native? Well if the angles repeat and the ruler of the ASC is in the SR in nice aspect to the ASC when the angles repeat, this is a good sign that the honors are coming this year.

The older texts say a duplication of the angles works for good or for ill and that ir probably accurate. It all depends on the other stuff going on. The older authors considered reversals of the natal angles to always be bad, but I don't think practice bears that out. Reversals seem to indicate upheaval that year, but it isn't necessarily bad.
