I have searched the forum and found a few threads on moon's nodes but one was no longer available. I understand if the mods don't think this an appropriate topic/question.

My son has major dental surgery scheduled under a south node exactly conjunct his ascendant. This procedure is solely to correct appearance, so it troubles me that the ascendant is involved in this way. I doubt I will say anything since I tried to have him change a surgery date when the moon was void of course (he got a needle track infection, very serious) so I guess I'm just anxious and curious to know what all the smart people here think. Would you schedule any kind of cosmetic procedure, or any procedure, under a SN ascendant transit? I think other indicators would have to be very strongly beneficial to override this.

I believe your point of view is quite correct. However, it is always the totality of cosmic influences combined together which determine the net result, and, depending upon these oher factors, the malefic influence of Dragon's Tail may certainly be neutralized or even completely negated,

Thanks for your response, dr Farr, I agree that many things must be considered when scheduling a big event, so much so that I find astrological input often confuses the issue. A friend of mine ordered a transit report from a famous astrologer, at my recommendation, and was left baffled at how to interpret the copious amount of information, often contradicting itself.
I know from experience to avoid the void of course moon and moon opposite sun sign for any important event. I think I will consult a horary professional.

I would have a look at L7 in your sons natal chart and Mars. L7 is his doctor/dentist and Mars is the natural ruler of Surgery. Are they weak or debilitated? There is also a part of Surgery A/C + Saturn-Mars. See if any of these points in your son's chart are weak or are afflicted by the South Node. Saturn is the natural ruler of teeth, what state is he in, in the natal chart? Check out his SR and Progressed chart to see if this is a bad year for Surgery-Teeth.
A transit by the South Node alone will not put him in harms way of a doctor there must be the promise of something going wrong with doctors/dentists in the natal chart first.
BTW was you asking a horary question when you posted originally?

So the north node is on the 7th cusp. Maybe the dentist benefits more than your son?

I haven't seen anything blatant in son's natal to indicate problems, but I'll look at those factors you mentioned. His SR sun will be in 12th.

Heavens, I hope not!!! I was thinking more about the pocket of the dentist perhaps.. am I being cynical?

If your son is having teeth removed, maybe SN on ASC is appropriate? Loosing something about his appearance, reduction etc.. like loosing buck teeth, reducing an overhanging bite etc.. It depends on the precise procedure as to how to interpret the symbolism, I guess. Even crowns need the original teeth filed down ie reduced?

NN on 7th could show a good dentist, skillful? A fated, beneficial connection.
If NN were ascending, SN on 7th would make a "bad" dentist?
It' so black and white, Me v You, on that particular axis. Not a win/win situation. So a good dentist makes him look bad, v. a bad dentist makes him look good.. doesn't make sense like that, does it?
More like a good dentist removes/reduces something about his appearance. Is that better?

The procedures do involve a lot of reduction, so I like that perspective, PallasAthene. Also, with NN moving into the 6th house, would that be an indication of healing?

Maybe I'm trying everything in my power to deny the obvious, i.e., there is a malefic on an angle. Two, if you count the NN as malefic, which I'm leaning toward. I guess that's another thread. Thanks so much for your thoughtful replies.
